Help with Sites!

Gah! For some reason I keep getting redirected, randomly, to Porn Sites while Using Internet Explorer. First I had a problem with "AdultFriendFinder", wich appeared everytime I clicked on a Link of a Search Engine, and I wasn't even looking for anything to related to it, but now I get redirected to Sickening Sites, always the same Lolita Shit, and I can't just stand that, it's so freakin annoying, so my Only Option was to change to Firefox.

Everything started after my conexion got canceled by accident, so I had to call the company, but when My conexion worked again, the problems began, and I have tried many things, including downloading Ad-Aware, Spybot and the free edition of AVG. My PC is apparently not infected by any virus, it works explendid, and the Internet is not slow, but it's really annoying to get redirected, and I do mind the underaged porn, it's just plain wrong.

Any Suggestions? Could anyone tell me WHAT is causing this problem? Should I get a more specialized program, something better than spybot?

And Sorry if some terms are "Incorrect". I'm not from USA, so I'm using "direct" translations.

try re-installing windows. (i know that is such a pain in the butt too)

I may try to "Clean" the messy PC of my Sister. We share the conexion, that sucks, and hers happen to be the one that is directed connected.

I think this has happened before with my older computer, and it was actually a problem with some Spyware and Viruses that were overkilling the PC of my Sister.

Re-Installing Windows? It wouldn't be a problem, but there's actually some important archives that are not even mine.

Get a hard drive, the last time my connection was being crappy, I had to use one of these to have everything on my PC safe before formatting.

Try checking if in you ADD/Remove directory to see if the didn't install a program on your computer.

Get spybot search and destroy and scan/immunize your comp. Also should go into internet options - tools and clear your cache and history.

Well, yes and no. It's better than IE, that's for sure, especially IE7…

Anyway, here's some stuff to try.

1. Click on Start
2. Click on Run
3. Type CMD
4. Hit Enter

Should open the Command Prompt. In there, do the following two commands:

1. ipconfig /flushdns
2. netsh winsock reset catalog

After that second one, it'll ask you to reboot. Do so.

Next, when the computer comes back up, open the command prompt again, and type netstat -a. It'll list all the connections your computer currently has open or recently had open. A clean computer should only have a few ports open, most of them being that of the site your accessing. For example, in this site's case, the port 38.101.153.11 should be open.

Other than that, run spybot regularly, clear cache and cookies and everything.

Step 1: But an External hard Drive. The extra space is sooo worth it. I fit every episode and special and movie of One Piece onto a quarter of the space, along with every image and file I had, as well as all my Warcraft III maps and save files.

Step 2: Reformat your computer. Reinstalling Windows won't remove everything, and the viruses will still be there. If you don't know how call a friend that does or print a guide online(if you can fight your way to one).

Step 3: Use Firefox from now on.

Step 4: Add security. Download Windows Defender, AdAware SE, Spybot Search and Destroy, and download some extra firewalls. Always leave pop-up blockers on and do regular system scans using all three programs. It sounds like overkill, but it's the only way to guarantee something won't get through, and even then there's still a chance, but it pretty much means if the virus or adware is able to make it through your router's firewall, the windows firewall, 2 bonus firewalls, and insert itself onto your computer, then just run all 3 programs and they'll nuke it until it's fried.

Problem is, once your computer is infected it's nearly impossible to stop. You need to prevent 99.9% of them from getting through, and if you browse the internet properly the risk of one even attempting to worm it's way in is low, and it'll likely be caught.

Some Adware lets other Adware in. If there wasn't this really nasty one that kept letting more in and would not give up, I might have been able to avoid reformatting.

Obviously, something has wormed it's way into your computer. Check your processes(Ctrl+Alt+Del and click the processes tab) and see if there's anything fishy. Also realize some are cleverly named, so if you see a process named "ipodhelper" and you have iTunes on your computer, but not running, that could be one. Not sure if it is, just one I saw on my computer sometime ago that worried me.

Don't tell people to reinstall windows! Ever! Ever, ever ever! Because then when all their drivers and their browser plug-ins are gone, they call in here and ask me why their internet's not working because windows doesn't have their NIC drivers!

I'd download software from this site: http://www.f-secure.com/

They have alot of different things you can download so it can be a bit hard to decide what to get, but they do have a scanner that will scan your computer for things the most other anti-virus scanners miss, tell you what you have, then you can look it up and it will tell you what software or procedures are needed to get rid of whatever you have.

Network Interface Card. It's the Ethernet port on the back of your computer where the Ethernet connects. Yes, most of the time the Windows CD or a CD that came with the computer has the driver for it, but not always. Sometimes it has its own CD or doesn't come with one at all, and it screws people over when they reinstall windows.

ah, this is what may have confused me when I got my new computer. I thought the drivers would be installed with windows, and I had to take it back and have the guy tell me "I told you to let me do it, and I told you, the drivers were in "this" CD and you have to instal them." lol oops.

I still got a long way to go ^_^

The big thing to remember: If you can get online, you can get the other drivers. So make sure your graphics card and your NIC card have drivers and are working properly. Once you're online, you can get all the other drivers you need.

What I do is usually make a CD of all the drivers, like the guy you bought your computer from did, CS. That way, if I do need to reformat, I've got everything I need to make the computer working again.
