Yeah, I want to start playing with this. I never tried this, so can someone give me directions or something?
Or any recommendations?

Well first you gotta set your controls. Six buttons, plus start, select and the arrows. Different characters could mean you could need to use start or select in battle too so watch out.
Then you gotta learn to download characters. You see download any character. Lets say Ryu and/or Ken from Street Fighter.
You download them,unzip them.
Put them in the characters folder.
So lets say "Mugen/Chars/Ryu" "Mugen/Chars/Ken"
Then you go to your Data Folder, and go to the "select.def"
There should be a place to add characters, blank or something.
replace blank with the character name folder.(note the DEF file inside the character has to be named the same as the folder itself)
Now save.
and play.This works very simular to stages. only different types of files.
I might have explained vaguely but I hope it helps with characters and stages. There are also debug controls and screen packs/life bars. I can help ya with debug but not screen pack or life bars.

Sorry to bump this but I tried downloading MUGEN. I have my characters (Ash, Batman, and Kung Fu Man) but when I try to fight, it says error and shuts down.
Any ideas?

The characters in it could be missing a file. What does the error say exactly?
