What is the best game from this amazing franchise?
Metal Gear Solid

Oh my friggin' god man, that's like one of the toughest choices I'm gonna ever have to make. Most of them are fantastic, but I think I'm gonna side with the original Metal Gear Solid.
-
Definitely MGS 1. 2 is in second, then 3 (plenty of people will idsagree with that though…) The onlu pre-solid one I played was the original metal gear, pretty good, 7/10. No comparison to solid, though.
-
I'd have to go with Metal Gear Solid 1, then MGS3 (awesome storyline and gameplay). I despised the second one, Raiden or whatever his name was just ruined it for me. Did we really need to see him running around with no clothes on near the end? Ugh, the sad thing is the gameplay was really good. If the story was better and we got to play as Snake it would of been a 10/10 game for me.
-
It would have to be
MGS 1, MGS 3, MG, MGS 2, and the MG 2… didn't play enough of it to get a real feel for it but im working on that :DMGS 1 wil always be the game that introduced stealth games to the world
MGS 3 so much awesomeness, young Ocelot, Naked Snake being Big Boss, ability to kill guy who looks like Raiden, excellent story, big surprise twist ending.
MG cause you can have so much fun with it both the MSX and the NES versions were good
MGS 2 Raiden was a lame addition but the story was good, making some what redeemed
MG 2 Still working on it -
What people don't understand was that Kojima purposly put Raiden in the game. He wanted everyone to see the story through a different perspective. Raiden was also the symbol of the theme. You know how the first game was about your DNA and genes, well MGS2 is about passing your genes. Snake was not in the same situation Raiden was, that's why I began to accept him. Sure I'll admit I hated him too, but Kojima knew that would happen, but he did it for the sake of the game. I'm not saying I lover Raiden, but I'm really fond of his whole background story and his character development.
-
metal gear solid 1 is the best. everygame created part 1 the best and so far nothing proved me wrong
-
Snake Eater. I liked the main character having emotion.
-
metal gear solid for ps1 for me.
and ill just have to agree that raiden ruined MGS 2
-
snake eater was the best. It had the best story of any game i've ever played, and the jungle thing was coolll.
Then MGS1
then MGS2.but surprisingly, Ac!d is one of the best games i've ever played. it has a really REALLY fun story, and the card based thing isnt as bad as it sounds– its realyl really fun once you know what you;'re doing.
-
My favorite is the Metal Gear Solid: Ghost Babel for Gameboy Color.
But my favorite Kojima game is Snatcher for Sega CD. It has quite a few Metal Gear references (your robot sidekick is even named "Metal Gear" and is described as a scaled down version).
-
Although when it comes to storyline, MGS2 is my favorite (I'm one of the only people in the world that DIDN'T hate Raiden,) I read the topic as "Game as a whole." MGS3 perfectly refined stealth action in my eyes, had some of the most fun boss battles in ANY game (including the coolest nuclear death tank fight ever,) and didn't have that bad of a story in it's own right. MGS3 gets a gold star.

DO DO DO DOOOOOOOOO…. Snaaaake eater!. :P

That song made the game perfect for me

I wish I could find an MP3 of it. :(
-
My mass horde of video game music finally is of some use.
-
Awesome! Thanks.

Final Fantasy, Samurai Shodown, DBZ:Budokai, Mario Bros, Zelda, others
I didn't mind raiden at all. I didn't like him much, but he was really cool looking. If there's 3 things I hate, its hear people complain about raiden, tidus for FFX, and shinji ikari.
The only real problem I had with MGS3 is that there was hardly a storyline til the end. I mean it was there in the form of hints and mysteries, but you didn't feel like anything was really going on. In MGS1 everything goddamn thing was an enigma.

I'm not, I'm saying the first isn't the best one. I never even said anything along those lines.
-
Snake Eater, by far.

I meant the whole series in general. They are great games, BDK3 is one of my favorites, but it doesn't compare to other games.

the first one but thats the only one i have played so :P

MGS 1. Despite the lack of FPV, it has an atmosphere the others have failed to achieve. I love them all, though.
-
Snake Eater(the only game in the series I have played).
-
I've played 1, 2, 3 and Snake's revenge as far as I can remember. I just completed 3 and I loved it.
-
Snake's Revenge is the one on the NES that Kojima wont even associate himself with haha!!!

But i didn't mean the whole series in general. I wasn't comparing them to MGS. devilkid said the first games were always best in any series, I was simply listing games were that wasn't so.
Ohhhhhh, I see now. Sorry about that._

Who else here thinks that Ocelot is one of the best game villians ever?
-
Nah. He was a dork in MGS3.
-
well i havent been able to play MGS 3 yet but i cant imagen Ocelot as a dork,
id say that he ranks at least in my top 20 villans list.

**I agree, I think I'll put my vote for Ac!d. It has addicting strategy gameplay (read: let's not sit in front of the TV and watch cutscene after cutscene) and it has a very good typical Metal Gear storyline. MGS was also a damn good game, but I haven't played 3 yet.

Snake Eater is everything from the other games mixed into one, but with evanmore features. The charecters are awsome, Big Boss (or Snake) is the classic hero, with all the moves and the attitude. The 'Sons of The Boss' are totaly unique, if they went straight they could of started a Super-Hero group, i can see it now! Im not too keen on 'The Boss' though, what do you guys think of her?

For sure, you carnt get better than Ocelot in Snake Eater, he was toatly not a dork. All i have to say is 'The hand gestures' ^_^
-
My vote goes to MGS1… :(.
MGS3 is a close second, but due to the fact that there is little to no charracter development with the bosses you fight bothered me throughout the whole game... Oh, some guy appears, lets fight... yay, he's dead. Lets move on.

Hah, yeh I loved the quirkiness of the young Ocelot. He's just so arrogant and bizarre, which is in stark contrast to the grizzled old man we see later.
-
I kind of liked it too, to be honest, it's just hard to say that he's "the best video game villain of all time" when he spends half the game getting PUNK'D by Snake. I even did some hand gestures unknowingly out of habit in the time I was playing Snake Eater.
-
I havnt played Metal gear 1, ánd I really want to play it, but wich one is best, the one for ps1 or for GC?
-
i prefer the PS1 version since its the orginal and has better music and voice actors,
but then again the GC version has better graphics but has on the other hand worse music and terribel voice actors and ridicouls new cut scenes.
so it depends on what you care about the most if looks are important to you you should pick the GC version.
but if you care most about the other stuff then its the PS1 all the way :D
-
the GC version of MSG is a joke.
they make it waaaaaaay to easy with the new abilities that were put into the game.

**Sure it was easy, but it wasn't a joke. It was still a great game.
-
What new abilitys? o.O
I dont care so much of the graphic, I just want it to be fun.
-
Metal Gear Solid 1 !!
-
well if you dont care to much about graphics then you should defintly go with the PS1 since its way more fun and a better game at all points besides graphics.
-
Ok. Good, becasue it's cheaper too… :D Though I dont have a ps1 memory card.. :(
