so, any testimonials? rumors? strange stores of random knowledge? :happy: ive done some research on my own, but id like to hear what you have to say. i want a neat looking pet, that will do fine alone and ignored, but wont fuss at being occasionally handled. also something that doesnt smell bad. what kind of pets do you suggest?
note: i have an intense fear of dogs and monkeys.
and have no problem handling mealworms or pinkeys.

Adopt a cat from a petstore
Or get a lizard or canary of your choice.
Canarys will walk around on your arm if you teach it to,so that covers handling it.

Try getting some "miniature sharks" or something. My next store neighbor had some when I was little… hammer heads the size of gold fish... Or you could get Japanese fighting fish (Beta)... or an Igwana.

Chameleons tend to be very delicate. I've heard bearded dragons are excellent starter reptiles, because they're fairly hardy and stay a manageable size.
Alternatively, a corn snake is also a good choice– inexpensive, available in many exciting colour patterns, easy to care for (feed it once every week or two, clean the tank with similar frequency)

No, some (can't say all, I'm not sure about that) can go without eating for over a week. My dad used to feed this one snake of his once a week.
Most snakes can go weeks or months without eating. You're not supposed to feed them daily.
Snakes have extremely low metabolisms, so they only eat sparingly.
Some species of snakes are known for going a whole year without eating, if memory serves. Same with some alligators.

It actually depends where you live. In alot of places, it's legal. The last time I visited Vietnam I met a family that had a caged monkey in their yard.

Why?
While many reptiles harbour salmonella, so do raw eggs and you don't fear the fridge. Basic good husbandry says to wash your hands after handling any animal which practices sub-cat levels of hygiene.
hey, i found a king snake outside last night and held it for a while. it was really cool. it didnt try to bite at all. it was about 2 and a half feet long and as thick as my thumb.
