Its only a thought but I wanted to say it ^^:
Maybe Robin is the daughter of Gold Roger?
1. Both can read the ancient writing (read poneglyphs)
2. Both have (had) black hair

Nico D Robin :P. While they bear few similarities I still doubt it. Roger's death might have to something do with the Ohara incident though.
It's possible, but highly doubtful. Unless Oda has some real curve balls ready to throw later in the series.

And of course, Oda is the master of doing that kind of stuff. Just when you think you have everything figured out, he pulls something amazing out of his usual place and we are all shocked at it.
Sure, but curve balls like this example would go right into the crowd…
Wow, that analogy sucked.
Nuf.
i highly doubt it. when robin saw roger's writing in skypiea she was shocked to know that roger knows the ancient language. if roger WAS her dad, she wouldnt be shocked to know such. besides, who else did she learn the ancient language from if not her dad/family?
but if you say robin's family was once a part of roger's crew, that has a bigger possibility, i say, even though still unlikely.
i think everything in this story basically ties back to roger, but not necessarily blood relationship or being-part-of-crew thing. so far in the story we've see oda doesn't care much about blood relations, as we've never seen luffy's father, or anyone's father. the only blood relationship that seems to have some significant importance is luffy and ace, and luffy and his grandpa, which we have yet to hear about.
No, she isn't the doughter of Gol D. Roger. Deffinitly! Aokiji says to ruffy something about Roger being his grandfather. So what would be Robin? His aunt? His Mum?
Then were would be the D. in her name?
No chance that Robin is a relativ of Gol D. Roger.
um, note that aokiji said nothing about roger being luffy's grandfather. aokiji said he was indebted to luffy's grandfather… but never actually mentioned who he was.

Roger had to have learned it somewhere though as it's an extremely rare ability; so he either learned it from Robin's family or taught their family how to read them. He must have spent time with them before he went to Skypiea or one of them accompanied him on his voyage.
Either way, that connection was probably what doomed the Nico family.

What about Yasopp? And how can we be certain that we've never seen Luffy's father?
Speaking of Ace:
Lot of similarities there.
thats awesome and if its true that'd be cool
yasopp is one case. plus the reason usopp joined the crew is not to see his father again, but because the pirate flag is calling and he wants to fulfill his dream of becoming a brave sea warrior. other than that, there isn't much of yasopp's influence to the whole story.
robin being rogers daughter was my idea…
and about robin being shocked at roger knowing about the glyphs could it be what the glyphs said? robin could have no memory of roger since she was 8 and had no parents. but i dont like the idea of luffy having his aunt on his crew.
yeahhhhhhh,,,,,,,,,,,, oh well it will all coem together some day

again, robin has got to learn the ancient language from someone, and robin did mention that her whole family was an archaeologist. so who's more appropriate to teach her the ancient language than her parents? if roger was her dad, then from this premise, roger taught robin how to read the ancient language. there is no way robin would have no memory of him.

Nico Robin Ohara?
Hmmmm….Maybe when she blew up those ships, there was something else on her mind...
Thats hard to decide… but Robin really looks like Korina ( from Zoro's past episode episode 19 i believe) but young...
do you mean Kuina?? hmm… I think Kuina looks like Tashigi
and I don't think Robin is Roger's daughter, but maybe she met him and saw the reason behind Roger's execution which lead her to question about 'why the Ds do that' or something like that (I forgot) ---> the question after she saved luffy from the sand

That's a good insight Tare_Chan It gives me the idea. Perhaps Gold met with Robin's relative or parent where he learned the ability to read ancient language. That may explain her relationship with Gold D Roger
I wish Oda would reveal to us Robin's past soon…... That would certainly clear up the mysteries surrounding her
At first I wasn't sure whether Oda would reveal her past just by her meeting CP9 but after Ice put an interest in her, the mentioning of the Ohara incident and her appearance in Franky's flashback may be clues to show that Oda will reveal her past in this arc.
I wish Oda would reveal to us Robin's past soon…...
that's also my wish  can't wait to see that ^_^

the ohara incident was something else then the five marine ships sinking i believe, Iceberg said something about Nico Robin being as evil as the ohara deamons or something.
