If Oda died and the manga was still running the manga would surley stop, Unless he already has the entire series drawn and written. The anime may still go on though.

It reminds me of this book I read in Grade school called "Z for Zachariah". The author died before he finished it so his wife and daughter wrote an ending for it. The book was awesome, the ending was terrible.
If Oda died, I would want One Piece to stop. Having someone else trying to write for an author just results in tragedy most of the time.

Well an author named FX Toole died while writing pound for pound and the ending wasn't that bad.
But it would probably be way different with one piece because it's harder to predict then most series/books.

And I'd probably catch up with Naruto (I'm SO far behind... and One Piece is so much more inviting, to the point that I've read I don't even know how many OP fanfics INSTEAD of catching up with Naruto)
But yeah, IF Oda died, the series would come to a tragic screeching halt. Though, they might have one or two chapters (enough to finish a book, maybe) of just tribute from the people he's worked with. It would probably NOT be continuing the series, though one might have Luffy actually at One Piece or something and all the crew's dreams fulfilled. Something to that measure. A tear-jerking 'alas that he couldn't script this' thing. Most likely, it'd just be pictures. Nami with a map of the world, Luffy opening a chest, Usopp looking cool, Zoro looking down at a defeated Mihawk, Chopper...I don't know, being a cool doctor? Franky with the Sunny, which has sailed the world, and Sanji cooking up dinner, or something. Or with a medal: "Best chef in the world". Something to that effect, And Robin reading the final Poneglyph.
And probably at the end, all the characters waving and maybe crying. "Goodbye to our beloved author". Something to that effect, and sappyness from his co-workers, maybe a comic showing how he was a great inspiration when they were working.But let's not jinx it.

I think Oda made a deal with the Devil like the Pirates do. He doesn't get to die until he finishes One Piece. So he's probably gonna delay the ending so he can live longer. When he finishes it, he's gonna turn to dust and his urn will be worshipped by the members of AP forums. Then there will be a revolt and a great battle for Oda's remains and the world will end.

I remember this thought came up alot when it was mentinoed One Piece wouldn't be published for a few weeks while Oda was sick. He had a cold or at worst something of small time flu level, and people thought it'd kill him :/
If he has the ending written down somewhere like in his Will(if he has one) where it'll only be found out if One Piece ends or he dies I'd probably hear what it is and then be happy and sad because one of the greatest Mangaka ever is now dead after 1 excellent series and One Piece is over.
If the Anime continued I'd stop watching it. If the Manga continued I'd stop reading, except I'd check out a synopsis of the ending, since if Oda left the ending written down then thew synopsis will be closer to the real thing than whatever his assistants could draw.
Would be cool if Oda had his own Near and Mello to pull out though.
And Suckel on the 1st page beat me to the Heroes Never Die thing. :(

The internet would be flooded with millions of fanfics for one thing. And I don't think Oda has the whole story written anywhere, he's like Sparrow, he makes it up while he goes. Maybe he has the basic outline and basic ideas and the story for the next 5 or 6 chapters though. Thats why I think if Oda dies OP as we know it is over.

Oda did mention once that he's always had a climax in mind, so I'm sure he'd write it down somewhere. It's probably just all the stuff in between that he pulls out of nowhere.

Oda said in an early SBS that he typically has several unfinished chapters saved up after one. He probably also has an outline for future chapters, even ones up to 800 or something, cand edts it if he sees something interestinmg in a book or movie or research or another manga….
I'd say, one of his assistants'd take over. Though it'd probableh look a bit wonky. And they'd probably get a collective name for 'emselves.
I wouldn't want the manga to stop, if only because I'd be curious which direction it'd then take, even tohugh it'd probably then be sub-par...and Toei'd have Annoying Kid Filler Heaven (TM).....
