@Skull:
Well I mean like I'm watching the other KF movie releases on a PC and 6 is the only one that does that, so I was wondering why that particular one was different. Usually whenever I rip a DVD it doesn't do it either. At least I dont see any black edges. It goes all the way across the screen.
First off, sorry about the rant earlier…
Second, the reason K-F's other releases don't have the shaded spots is because when they rip the video off the DVD, there's usually an algorithm in the program that cuts off the black lines, and sometimes an extra pixel to ensure the entire picture is in frame, without any extra. It's a similar idea with DVD movies.
Here I used a movie framed at 2.39:1 because the bars are more visible.
Here we have the unaltered image taken directly from the DVD. There are two highly noticeable black bars on the top and bottom of the image, and you can see a slight black line on the left side, and an even smaller shadow on the right side. This doesn't mean the image was cut off, in fact, if the image were to be framed to fit the full frame of the DVD, then it would in fact be cut off.
This next image demonstrates what the same image would be after the ripping program removed the black bars/lines.
You will notice that the width is slightly smaller than the first image, and that the height is considerably lessened. The main point I'm bringing up is that you see no more black lines around the edges anywhere.
Hopefully this will clear things up a bit, and again, I'm sorry for that rant earlier Skull Kid.
Now, back to the actual discussion.
