Claymore
-
-
Wow finally a chapter that I liked, I hope that this means that I can care about this series again.
-
I really don't understand why they never show the Claymores' bodies, i mean what could be so horrific that you have to just talk about, but not show/???
-
That´s how suspense works. If you see suspense/horror movies, you´ll be more afraid of the monster/evil spirit you can´t see, that the one you have seen already.
Some people will be afraid/disgusted even after seeing it, but some won´t. Maybe a lot of readers will say "that´s it! how lame! it doesn´t freaks me out at all!" after seeing a Claymore´s body.

Doesn't that answer your own question? Whatever it is, its bad enough that it would make the readers sick to see it. And for that reason, its not shown.
I assume its something really grisly and nasty looking, like maybe a large patch of diseased skin or something. Nothing that would mess with their figure obviously, but enough to be really disgusting.
-
This isn't the first time they did it either. From Teresa's encounter with that one dude you're supposed to generally gather that it's an unsightly collection of scars and disfigurements (Maybe missing muscles too?). Even if not disgusting it's bad enough to be really shocking.

Nothing, that's why they will never show it
-
Parts of those dragon race humaniods dangling around their per treated bodies.

Ah that explains why I can't view Mangareader. The Men in Black work in secrecy.
Anyway I have a feeling by the end of the manga we might actually see what they look like since it's been built up for some time, perhaps when Clare emerges so Raki and her can have an emotional moment. I really liked this chapter a lot; I feel like the scare that it could be over made the await for it all the more suspenseful, and reading it all the more rewarding. Looks like we're heading towards the final arc, and what an amazing on it's looking to be.
-
the ONLY reason why we havent seen it yet is because the Author doesnt know what to really put there that would be "disgusting" enough yet still be relevant to the story (so no not 50 armadillo penises) when the Author does get an idea, then he'll show us. but for now I'm pretty sure he hasnt even remembered it.

He just brought it up as a major plot point in the most recent chapter. Somehow I don't think he forgot.

With all of the horrific people being torn to pieces and monsters spilling each others guts I too was wondering what was so bad about a Claymore's torso. The only thing I can think of is that it must be horribly diseased/necrotic in visage as another said or that's where the flesh of yoma was implanted and you can still see it. So a Claymore would have pieces of whatever yoma part that was given to them still clearly visable and in Clare's case, you would see parts of Teresa's head/face. That's be a pretty shocking thing that you wouldn't want people to see. So yeah.
-
^ That's about the best theory I have read on the subject, and seems like the most plausible to me.

Actually, that would be pretty freaky.
Let's hope it's exactly that.
-
Real-life grafting isn't that pretty either.

New chapter's out on mangahere.
I liked this chapter a lot. It reminded me about a lot of the elements of this series I liked, and it's doing a good job of leading up to this final battle. With this pace we might see action as early as next chapter.
-
! Looks like we get to see Clare naked, and her body isn't a horrific Eldrich horror like we've been told Claymores look like under the suits. That said, there is something disturbing to see, but given Clare is whole, isn't that because she was put back together somehow?
I haven't read since the manga "ended".
-
Is this the second time Claire reformed from awakened-goo?
But the first time this splitting open didn't happen.
Soo.. the awakening of the destroyer only undressed claire nothing more? ^^
:ninja:
(chapter 93)
-
! The Body scar reveal, It was fated to be dissapointing. We trully never saw them without the tights, that they never showed any part of the scar ever?
! The reunion was nice though.Well, that was ok.
-
It just seems that Yagi never draws the scars. We've seen Claymore body shots without any scars on them. The scar seems to go all the way from the crotch area to the neck. But we've had alot of scenes where stomach shots are revealed after battles.
It wasn't as bad as it was hyped up to be.
-
The concept of the wound itself it's pretty creepy (the torso splitting open), but what we see isn't that bad.
-
Granted, the scar is pretty hideous. It looks loose fitting and almost unnatural, like the skin it's binding is a sort of jacket.
-
The problem isn't a scar. Its the fact that is an open wound which doesn't close at all, and the two halfs are just being held together tigh by string.
Pages in paper don't really do justice to what an open wound like that would look like up close in real life. It would make them look like some sort of fresh zombies at the very least.
So the concept is very cool, even though it doesn't look that gruesome on paper.
-
Yeah, exactly what he said.
The more I think of it, the more grossed out I become.
-
I think the problem is that we see these girls sliced up all of the time so this being a wound that doesn't close really isn't as shocking to what it was dramatized to be. Yes, it being a wound that never closes is terrible but by this time we've seen so many body parts hacked to pieces that it's just an…."oh." I think disfigurement would have been a better choice since we do see a lot of horrible violence and gore and not as many "disturbing" visages.
-
Yes its something that really give a sick picture if we think about it anyway it was nice reunion.
-
I have to say, for the reunion the majority of the manga has built up to, it was very well done. Claire tearing up at the sight of Raki alone was a great emotional moment, then the hug made it all better. I really liked this chapter a lot, this series is setting up for a great ending and I'm enjoying every step towards it.
-
I don't understand why they don't just carry that thing away from the city. Am I missing something?
-
They don't want to disturb it. Any sudden movement could instantly release Priscilla and then everyone would be screwed a full day or two before they were prepared to be so.

I dunno about you, but a living being having its entrails dumped out like was described in this chapter is pretty darn creepy. There was a video I saw linked to me a few weeks ago about animal cruelty where a bull killed a horse in a Mexican bull-fighting ring, by hitting the horse's stomach with its horns, tearing the belly. The horse was alive as its entire abdominal cavity collapsed on the dirt and was dragged by the terrified, panicked animal. It was a scene of fatalism and was deeply distributing.
Obviously this is manga, but something as amateurish as using steel wire to stitch together a chest wound so the body looks more like a suit with zipper instead of real flesh takes me out of my comfort zone.
…
That said, time for jokes. Jokes are a great way to alleviate tension!
So, about Clare. I think it's time she and Raki start that baby making process. Would be one of the rare cases where a C-Section isn't life-threatening!
-
Who in the world are those guys shown towards the beginning of the most recent chapter?
I cant for the life of me remember who they are. -
Who in the world are those guys shown towards the beginning of the most recent chapter?
I cant for the life of me remember who they are. They are single digit awakened beings who gathered around Rabona because they were curious about the great source of power they felt coming from the city.
-
Well they're all going to die know so it doesn't matter who they are.
-
So now some new beings are stronger still. I thought all the really strong awakened beings were accounted for.
-
The whole story has got some kind of late DBZ feel around it. Claymore should have ended way earlier and now its just draggin on, without any clear endgoal, just adding new monsters of the week and get them defeated shortly after, all good guys perfectly safe no matter what, no sense of menace anymore etc.

As long as Pricsilla is still alive there is a clear goal

Yes and no.
Yes for they should have been finished with the org, and the Island long time ago, and the author should have been dealing with the war on the dragonkin on the rest of the planet by now. I just marathoned this from about 4 months(after Raki FINALLY met Claire), and pretty much nothing has happened. It does drag on way too long.
Usually when authors do this its because they don't really know what to do with the other parts of the story they've set up, and are just stalling for time until they figure it out. Usually this Never turns out well i.e. Naruto, bleach, and to some extent Shingeki no Kyojin but he gets a pass as its one of that guys' first mangas.
oh and P.S. You'd better watch talking bad about manga/anime that people like here, you'll get bashed by the plethora of trolls (aggressively or passive aggressively) for your "wrong" opinion. Or if you don't give a shit like me, you can just add them to your ignore list. XD
-
I love this series, and to this day it remains the only anime I have gotten my shallow wife to watch. So that alone makes it awesome in my book.
-
So…is this actually getting a second season? I bought the first volumes way back when and hated it but got the first season dirt cheap and actually enjoyed it...but it just doesn't really end. Then I noticed it only goes up to like..vol 14 or so of the Manga.
Or is this just one of those anime that got finished before it's end like Eyeshield 21?
-
As far as I know the anime ended prematurely and differently from the manga and there is currently no plans to continue it, sadly.
-
One of the few times I wanted the back story to keep going. Priscilla's past is of importance and interesting.
Funny cuz first few pages I thought this was about Raki.
-
It's feeling stretched, and I feel that it shouldn't go to the mainland, just end it with Priscila. Going to war with the dragons would be falling for the organization's purpose.
-
Claymore was GREAT before the timeskip, then it became a classic shounen snoozefest where nobody dies and there are no serious themes. Now it's all just FIGHT! BATTLE! DESTROY! SLASH!
I just hope Clare deals with Priscilla quickly and ends the slow and painful agony of this could-have-been-masterpiece.
-

Unless the ppl from the mainland are coming to wipe them out.
Wouldn't be surprised to see things turned on their head and the ppl fromt he mainland are painted as the real evil bastards while the organization was evil for the sake of survival.

There is a new chapter out, but fuck if I still understand the story line:

This manga has really gotten bad after the timeskip. Looks like we'll now have to deal with another filler fight at Rabona now.
-
Claymore was fine up until this battle. It is just being drug on just end the freaking battle already.
-
I like all the "this has gotten bad since the timeskip" comments considering…. that happened around chapter 60... 7 years ago.
Less than halfway to the point the series is at now. Yes, it's gone at a plodding pace unsuited for a monthly and been a lot of non-stop combat, (which reads better in a single sitting) but... these problems are hardly new.
At least it comes out every month.
