There's always a chance she was using a reverse illusion on them… but, that seems unlikely to say the least. She was my favorite character too :/
Claymore

Was it ever explained what's with the bodies of claymores that make them horrendous to look at when in nude?

There's supposably really bad scarring left over from the Claymore surgery where they implant yoma parts into a human body. The scars are located in the stomach area but the scars have never actually been shown in the manga.
-
Do you know what chapter where that was explained?
-
Don't remember but it's early in the series.
-
Oh I see, thanks ^^
-
Am I confused.
I understand what the author wanted to say with Miria's fight. However, it's strange to see such an interlude at this point and in such way.
Maybe, it just the latest direction that plot has taken. The team comes back from the north, and while prepairing for the strike, members get scattered around the land and the leader gets massacred. I probably should read the first eighty chapters, perhaps I'll be less confused. Also, it's sad to see Miria go. Among all female characters that Yagi draws with the same face, I liked her haircut best.
-
Yeah…Clare handled this Genjutsu stuff a lot better than Miria did. And watching Miria's resolve collapse in front of the twins, she was destined to lose. And lose, spectacularly, she did.
I agree with Lourve, and feel Miria surviving this would cheapen her folly. It's time Clare stepped up to fill Miria's shoes, although it does feel sickening that one of the Northern Campaign survivors (extremely powerful Claymores) would be killed off at this point. But it's all justified.
Bravo, Yagi...
-
Okay, That was bullshit. :/
but I understand why. But still, for her to break down this quick. ugh.
-

I'm okay with her breaking down so quickly just because of the background of the Claymores. They are all EXTREMELY damaged in their psyche due to dealing with the monster within all the time. Not to mention that they all really tend to lose control when that special someone is involved (Clare with Raki, Jean with Clare, Miria with Hilda). Clare said very early on that she would cry and hold her friend Elena just to get through the night. Most of them are really fragile mentally, I would assume.
-
It's awesome Miria lost quickly the way she did. She went on hr own with half-assed resolve at a monstrously powerful organization. It wasn't enough that she just get killed, Yagi had to make it so that she was totally destroyed at all levels physically, mentally and emotionally. And destroyed she was.Miria, the super-badass, was reduced to a gibbering moron on her knees without even releasing her trump cards, her spirit totally crushed only fixated on her delusions and then and only then she was mercilessly cut into tiny pieces like a dog starting with her main emotional hope, her hand. It was fantastic:)

New chapter's out at mangastream. I think now I might be able to get away with rereading this arc, and still know what's going on in the next chapter. This one kinda took me by surprise going straight into a battle
-
! "Clare isn't dead yet."
! LOL, what? I mean Clare was in pieces last we saw, and she couldn't regenerate! It's more plausible Miria is alive than Clare. Yeah I know Clare's the main character, but pardon me if I'm going to naysay how Yagi will bring her back. Because being dead off-screen is one thing, but mincemeat is a whole 'nother story. -

Possibly some new power she might gain as a result of everything that happened? Supercharged healing doesn't seem totally implausible, if you consider what some people in this series can recover from. Either way, I suppose we will find out in a month.
-
I figured she was just going to awake and bring her back that way
Or make it so the Clare we saw was not actually her.
-
Claire wasn't absorbed by the twins monstruosity?
-
No, she was. If anything it's going to be her somehow taking the twins' power and making a new body. Perhaps saying goodbye the the one Teresa gave her? It's hard for me to believe Clare could get a stronger body without Teresa's DNA, even if she's taking the flesh from a very powerful Awakened being.
Also, I can't say I like the idea of Clare and Raki turning into monsters…that's kind of been a Claymore theme, walking the tightrope in-between, but Raki getting infected might turn him into some kind of nasty as well. Especially if The Organization gets to him. I really admired RAKI GAR.
Plus…wouldn't it be incest? :? IF Raki gets his body transformed by the Rafaela/Luciela mix, and Clare also gets a new body from the same material, they're technically from the same source so...

Teresa gave her a body? I thought Claymore's have their own body just mixed with Youma tissue.
Clare is a unique claymore right, she is imbued with a non awakened claymore tissues, she has an arm from another claymore (Irene). She has 2 different tissues of other claymores inside her…somewhere (Irene, Theresa). I'm not gonna be surprised if she can somehow meld with Rafeala/Luciela mix. She made cognitive contact with Rafaela before too.
-
Clare isn't dead since she was absorbed by the destroyer. She will eventually either take complete control of it or seperate from it completely like she did before when she faced Rafaela inside the destroyer. If she does seperate from it it'll either be after she defeats Priscilla or forces her to retreat.
Teresa didn't give Clare a body. She got parts infused from Teresa's body that made her into a Claymore. After the experiment Clare's body was 75% Clare's, 25% Teresa's. Now it's even less since she has Irene's arm and Rafeala's memories. Teresa's 25% will probably drop even more since she'll carry over some more stuff from the destroyer when this is over.
Looks like Dietrich will finally be converted to the ghost side now after this chapter. From her "this is just like" comment she either figured out that some Yoma attacks she has she before where Org related or a attack happened in the her past that led her into becoming a Claymore was Org orchestrated. The Org having Yoma control has been hinted for a while. From Miria saying that they Org made Yoma and from way back when Teresa would tell villagers if they didn't pay the Yoma killing Claymore fee a group of Yoma will eventually attack your village.
Good to see that Yagi is merging the storylines with everyone aside from Claire is accounted for.

Why attack Labona, then? I mean if the Organization really had Awakened beings just lying around somewhere, they would have been building Claymores using Awakened flesh long before now. Claymores like Clarice wouldn't be so weak, even with less time/material to integrate into her flesh.

Chapter 109 is out at Mangastream.

"Save Miria?"
These editors know no shame to put in blatant lies like that.

The cruel part is that the girls are as clueless as the editors.

You mean to say Yagi is going to bring back the best haircut of the series that had already been cut down in quite a meaningful way?

God he better not. Her death was awesome and brutal and final and a cheap "She's alive!!!" cop-out would be especially terrible.
I eagerly look forward to the looks of despair on their faces when they find out she was cut to itty bitty pieces.
-
Besides the mission will most likely turn to "Save… the guy that was once Claire's little atachee"
That most likely has a claymore womb thingie in the back, or Dragon's equivalent. Just a crazy theory.
-
I have to disagree with you all I'm afraid. If she's alive that would be awesome, and knowing the quality of writing he produces it won't be done in a lame way. This is one of the best chapters of Claymore I've read in awhile, and it did a lot for the plot. I think we're probably moving into the 2nd to last arc, and it also looks like we'll be missing our main character for awhile. I can't wait for next month's chapter!

There's a limit to what great execution can do when you're eviscerating masterful character ending chapters in the process. Imagine if Ace was saved by Marco's tears or something.
-
So I was right. Dietrich's village was destroyed. She's probably the little girl that Clare was talking to by the twin statue fountain in the north when she went looking for Raki. After the Org lost half their Claymores after the battle in the North. They probably started attacking towns to recruit all new Claymore girls to replace the ones they lost.
Sucks that the Clare/Priscilla fight didn't really happen. After Clare merged a shockwave happened trapping Priscilla with Clare. They probably won't get released until near the end of the org battle so Clare can show up to save the day or until after the Org is destroyed. Once this arc is over we'll probably start the mainland part of the story.
-
I don't think that the org just attacks towns for the lolz, I guess that they didn't pay the extermination of a youma, that was implied in the chapter
-
That's just a cover. There actually doing it to recruit new Claymore girls after they destroy there town.
-
In most series I would hate if a character turned out alive like that, but in Claymore's case I would not mind, it would actually be more surprising since he has already killed so many characters. Though I believe he will probably just use the rescue mission to reunite zaki with claire. Forgive me if there are inaccuarcies in my posts, it has been about half a year since I last read a chapter.
-
-
pretty uneventful chapter for me. talking about a severed limb for half the chapter and the other part they just introduce a new character, only real interesting part was pricilla
-
mmh well preeetty boring, ok it would be a decent chapter if it were 1-2 weekly chapters.. but for monthly this is to little "narrative density"!
The only interesting thing one might gleam is that necrophiliac dude is gonna resurrect Miria with Priscillas arm.
-
I hope Raki's OK. Priscilla liked him enough to help him out, it'll be a pity if he dies in spite of her gift.
-
I thought this chapter would go a different route than it did. The way they started it off I thought we would get a decent flashback of Priscilla and Raki… but it kinda brought on more questions than answers. And yeah, most of the chapter was them talking about that arm and older claymores. So it wasn't a bad chapter, but yeah, pretty uneventful.
-
What? Zombie Elite? OUTSIDE Naruto? Claymore can pull it out!
-
Once again the pacing is just death on this series. We got 30ish pages, but it was like the content of 5 or 6. Added to the monthly pace, eh, I dunno. Ecen if it were weekly it would still be pacing pretty badly.
I'm sure all of this information will be important later, and it IS interesting… but do we really need 15 pages of the council going "So, who is the monster that the audience already knows?" especially when one of them actually DOES know already and just isn't saying anything?
I guess zombie claymore might be another monstrosity to look forward too.
I think I need to give up on the regular chapter releases and just catch this series in trade form. Its so uneventful EVERY chapter, but its pretty good in large chunks.
At least in Berserk stuff happens.
-
Does it mean that with Priscilla's arm removed, Raki won't hold on his own against the spikes in his shoulder?
And, Yagi has some conflicts with drawing appealing to the eye human male characters?

Well…

On Zombie Claymores, I thought that referred to the Abyssal Feeders? I mean because now that The Organization has a piece of Priscilla, they could use it to hunt her down.

Shouldn't have readed all claymore in one day, I forgot about those!
-

They plan on using Priscilla's arm to make 3 stronger creatures. The whole point what Dae was talking about was this unknown being (Priscilla) is stronger then a Abyssal One. If they gave a Abyssal Feeder Priscilla's flesh so they could hunt Priscilla she'll easily destroy them. Remember, it took the AF a long as time to kill Isley. The AF would have no chance against a being above a AO
A AF is made using awakened parts. In theory, if they make a 3 creatures using Prisciila's arm they should be way more powerful than the current AF. As a precaution, if the 3 creatures end up being a failure the lead Org guy told Dae to immediately stop the experiement.
Considering Dae does have numerous #1 Claymore corpses he's necro stashed in his rape bedroom. He can do more experiements using #1 parts. A Zombie Teresa Amazon Stripper might be a reality.
-
If only they would attach that arm to Theresa's body.
-
New chapter's out on mangastream.
This was certainly an… eventful filler. 22 pages of a battle between random claymore and yoma, and a 23rd page of the good guys showing up. I'll give them a break on the off chance they were setting up this Anastasia to be an important character, but yeah, pretty uninteresting chapter this month :P
-
Claymore has the best hairdos.
-
What a boring uneventful chapter of filler. Combat for combat's sake isn't that interesting, especially when its total unknowns.
Claymore has the best hairdos.
It has to when its the only distinguishing feature the characters have. What with them all being blond women wearing the same uniforms using the same weapons.
-
Eh, I liked it. Especially the main gang showing up at the end. I'm always a sucker for new potential side-characters showing their stuff and epic entrances.
