I really enjoy playing all the RPG games of Super Mario. But, my most favorite of them all is "Legend Of The Seven Stars" for the SNES. What about you guys?

Ooh, tough question, since I love them all. Well, if I have to rank them:
- Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
- Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga
- Paper Mario
- Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
Hmm, this is definitely a series that improves with each one. And, since SMRPG was pretty good to begin with, you can probably guess at the quality of the others.
-
I gotta say thousand year door as well. Damn close to tied for my favorite game of 2004 with Tales of Symphonia. (Ahhh, what a good year it was to be a GCN owner…)
I thought the gameplay in TYD was the deepest a Mario RPG has been, the overall story was fun and cool, and the individual chapters were all unique and cool (ESPECIALLY Doopliss's chapter.)
-
Never tried the Paper Mario series, I always wanted to though… but Super Mario RPG for the SNES is one of my alltime favourite RPGs. Great gameplay and an awesome soundtrack. I've replayed it a ton of times, one of the games I've played the most, after Chrono Trigger and Earthbound.
Damn, I'm getting all nostalgic now.
-
I get your feeling, jewbagel. I've just about played every RPG snes there is in there market.
though i've moved on to full-fledge computer games, the SNES and GENESIS were the great of their time.
Have you ever played Phantasy Star or Final Fantasy, jewbagel

Of course! I loved PS and FF back in the day, although I don't really play the new "generation" of them, I've pretty much switched entirely to PC Games as well. But I must of played through FF4-7 three or four times each. I was pretty much addicted to my Genesis/Dreamcast with PS and PSO too.
Time to find my Roms and play a few of these old games for a while
-
I love Mario and Luigi:Superstar Saga and Super Mario RPG for the SNES. Not a big fan of the Thousand Year Door, though.
And old school Phantasy Star kicks all kinds of ass, espically PSIV.
-
You said it, Zio.
I never played games till i stumble upon Phantasy Star 4, and i played that one at least 15 times before going for the other Phantasy Star Series. Later on i moved to the SNES and got hooked on Final Fantasy.
I love Phantasy Star 4, it's my all time favourite RPG
By the way, does anyone here remember Shining Force Series, it was another great, wasn't it.
I have almost the entire collection of GENESIS and SNES Roms, so if anyone ever needs any of the ROMS, you can PM me
-
I love Mario RPG. Superstar Saga was pretty good, but doesn't stack up to the greatness that was SMRPG. I still have it. And I still laugh at those who sold their SNES to buy an N64 back in the day.
-
I laugh at those people as well. I have never sold a single one of my consoles. I somehow feel it'd be a blashphemy as a gamer.
-
I still keep my broken consoles (memories :) )

**Heehee it was a good year… my favorite chapter in TYD had to be the one with Bobbery (my favorite Mario character next to Geno). The ending wasn't that great, though.
Overall I enjoyed SMRPG and TYD the same.
-
I kept all my consoles and handhelds too, old NES/SNES/n64/DC/Genesis/Saturn and others are all in a box somewhere with all the games I had, I think they all work still. I could probably make a small fortune selling some of my stuff. I can't just throw them away though, they all cost me like $300 when I got them
@Spawnraven: I played the Shining Force series, it was great. I don't think I ever finished the third one though…
-
I've only played TYD and it was a nice game. I disliked the soundtrack though and, while the game itself was fun, it was too easy.
I've sold all my old consoles and games - besides my dusty Commodore 64 is broken anyway.
-
I friggin' love the Mario RPG games. Any Mario game, actually. The environments are always so colorful and beautiful, I can't help but get nostalgic when I play one.
I loved all four of the Mario RPGs, though. I don't think I could ever rate them. Mario & Luigi is just hilarious, and I like how it incorporates actual Mario characters (Toadsworth, Birdo, etc) instead of just creating brand new characters. Mario RPG had the Axem Rangers! And Domino, the best boss ever with his extremely gay outfit. ^_^ And Paper Mario would have to be the most beautiful game ever made. I just love the different towns and dungeons. I have yet to beat Paper Mario 2 though (I'm on chapter 4 or 5 or something, don't remember), but I remember I liked the Shadow Sirens a lot. :D GUHHH!!!!
sigh this made me remember that I need to buy a Nintendo DS…grumble Just for FF3 and Super Princess Peach! Eeee!
-
Wow, that quite a collection, jewbagel. I don't own any of the console myself  . All of the games i ever played were on the computer with ROMS taken from the internet. I don't think that makes it less enjoyable though.
I have never don't Shining Force 3 myself, only went up to No. 2, do you know where to get No. 3??
But i have finished every Breath Of Fire series ever produced, including the latest No. 4. The graphics were very nice, and Ryu having the ability to change in Kaiser was cool, though Fou-Lu's dragon was even better
-
My favorites:
- Mario and Luigi
- Thousand Year Door
- Mario RPG
- Paper Mario

**SF3 was for the Saturn, but I don't know if there are emulators or roms for that. I don't know much about emulating except for the Nintendo systems  And I did play the first 2 BoF's for SNES, not any of the others though. It was a while ago, but those were some good RPGs. So many great ones for the SNES.
Staying on topic, "Beware The Forest's Mushrooms" from the SNES Mario RPG is one of the coolest bgm's ever. Such good music…

that last battle was tough tho. I love to see old school gamers like myself wherever i can find them. I remember either renting it or borrowing it from my cousin and finding it hard back in the day but when i went back to it years later it was practically a breeze. On a side note, it is a shame more kids in my generation and younger(16 and younger, with me in the 16 age group) gravitating towards the new school entirely and hating the old school based solely on graphics.

Like jewbagel said, Shining Force 3 is for Sega Saturn. There were three scenarios (all separate games). Only scenario 1 came out in English though, which was too unfortunate. I think scenarios 2 and 3 only had Japanese versions (unless there were European versions that I don't know about).
Oh, and I like Super Mario RPG (I liked Geno and Jonathan Jones). I never got to play the other ones though.

I get that feeling too, the first time playing any game is definitely harder, it's amazing how you breeze through after that
Wow, did you also play BOF4, the first time was indeed hard, then i started again, this time with the Slayer and and another sword (can't remember, but you do buy it from a merchant, it's a two-hit sword) and voila, Fou-lu is down in seconds
I do enjoy the older games, especially RPGs. I don't know, it sort of gives out something that the new games don't.

No fair!!!, i've been searching for ages to get my hands on SF3.

Legend of the seven stars was great, first time I played it I just couldn't get enough. Favorite boss was probably a tie between Smithy and Jonathan Jones. Punchinello was good as well. Paper mario was a great one as well, Stupid Troopa Jr. always butting in.
-
I didnt like TYD too much. I mean, it was alot of fun, but the world was kinda lame and overall it was a pretty boring game. Its one of those games thats fun, but you dont know why.
1. Super Mario RPG
2. Paper Mario
3. Mario and Luigi
4. Paper Mario 2Mario and Luigi is almost as good as paper mario in my opinion. It was one of the best GBA games ever.
-
I wish that both Nintendo and Square Enix a.k.a Squaresoft would settle their differences and create another Super Mario RPG together again.
-
I dunno, I think the direction Nintendo has been going with their Mario RPGs has been swell. Much more creative and interesting, in my opinion.
-
It would be nice if they re-released it for the GBA (same goes for Earthbound).

Yeah, they need to bring out the GBA Earthbound/Mother 1+2 game (which has been out in Japan for a long time now). I don't know why they refuse to or something….

I loved Mario RPG with a passion. <3 Btw, whatever happend to Culex? Did he ever show up in any other game?
