Cindry died in an accident 10 years ago and Hogback said that he met Moria about 10 years ago. So what if Hogback was Cindrys lover but then she died.Hogback then seeked out Moria and asked him to revive Cindry.Moria revived her on the condition that Hogback would work for him and make him a powerful army of zombies. What do you think about that?
General Thoughts about Thriller Bark
-
-
Im wondering about whos shadow he used to revive Cindry… was it Cindry or the shadow that smashed the prized 10 plate collection? Seems to be the shadow since its a personality trait and a fighting ability.
-
i think its rather obvious at this point that cindry's body was an actress before she died, and hogback had a crush/relationship with her (the shrine)… then he met moria, who could re-animate her, but with a different personality. shes got the shadow of someone who had the plate incident.
-
I don't think Hogback's story is that tragic, having Absalom and Perona this simple-minded about their goals.
But then again, Hogback's goal wasn't shown with them, so he might be a different case.
-
Hmm so what have we learned? that Hogback is an incredibly shallow person only thinking about the outer apearance and does not care one bit about personality?
or is hogback bloodrelated to Cindry?

I'd go with Hogback being a bastard, or else Chopper won't ever agree to fight his all-time idol. Right?
-
Sometimes I wonder, considering the difference between her and Hogback if she wasn't just his first zombie creatation. I doubt numbers came into the frame until after he joined up with Moria. He has a room full of her pictures, maybe he had a thing about her… She died tragically, he brought her back using Moria's help... I don't know I guessing here.
-
First of all, I've got to say that Gecko Moria is quite the freak! I just knew he would look the part of "alpha freak" on an island of zombies and monsters. Hopefully his Devil Fruit power is more versatile.
Now on to random and various Thriller Bark discussion points! I felt that maybe we could use a topic to talk about anything and everything related to Thriller Bark that borders on broad speculation.
Here's some of my thoughts:
How should the conclusion go to this arc go, besides whether Brook joins or not?
Would it be feasible to render Thriller Bark stationary or to sink it altogether?
Do the events of Thriller Bark have the possibility of being isolated, i.e. will Moria share it with the other Shichibukai and World Government? To answer my own questions:
I hope like hell that Brook joins! Likewise, perhaps it would be in the One Piece world's best interest if Thriller Bark was sunk. If that happened, then Moria and his three comrades (Absalom, Perona, and Dr. Hogback) could just escape.
I would think that Moria would keep the destruction of his ship a secret. If there was any curiosity about it from the WG or other Shichibukai then he could lie about it.What do you guys think?
-
where would the people in the woods go ifit was sunk? would they all have to board Thousand sunny and come along for the ride to Merman island?
-
It's been just "good." so far for me. I haven't really NEEDED a new chapter in a while, like I did with enies lobby. It's getting better, especially this chapter, but it hasn't "OMG WOW!!" me yet. I liked where it was going when Brooke was on the ship, but once they landed on Thirller bark, it hasn't been all that exciting.
It's probably one of my least favorite arcs so far which sucks.
-
This is the bestest ever and whoever disagrees is wrong.
-
Hmm I don't know about the sinking of the world's largest ship.. Personally, I would prefer if the zombies and stuff just get blown away while they take the ship and use it for other (better) purposes.
And I do hope Brook joins the crew too.
Though, actually, I really cant see any suitable ending to this arc. Unlike in the others, where you just foresee the enemies being pummelled into submission, this arc seems a little more.. interesting. I don't know why this is
so either. -
This story started out a bit oddly. When we introduced a talking skeleton, although I liked him, it really made me feel a bit uncertain about where this story was going. In the following four chapters, my mind was changed. The general horror movie feel as well as the zombies and new characters won me over. I really enjoyed it a lot, though I don't feel this is as good as the major arcs. Right around the time Lola came in, I felt that too many things were going on, and the mysterious disappearance of the old man still bothers me. But now with Moria physicall appearances and his plan (semi?) revealed, it's won its place back in my heart. But so far, it seeems to be lacking something that the other arcs had, but I can't put my finger on it.
So far, I give it a 7.5/10
edit-
The boat sinking? Brilliant! I don't think the Strawhats had had to deal with a giant sinking ship before as a final climax. -
After Enies Lobby's epic and extremely awesome ending, a little craziness is exactly what I wanted from One Piece. Thriller Bark is doing an excellent job of that, awesome designs, lots of great new villains, and zombies make for a good arc.
-
I love this arc. It's not really epic, and it's hard to top some previous arcs, but this arc is very fun, wacky, and full of creativity, which I always enjoy. But so far most of the arc has been setup, soon it'll hopefully pick up into something awesome.
I'd compare this arc to the DBF. It's not really trying to be as epic as Enies Lobby, it's just for some wacky refreshement.
Plus it has Brook, who is made of awesome, and some very creative character designs.
-
Well, I'm Pro-Brooke, too… and I'm in love with this arc, it's the first time I said that a zombie looks cute XDDDD (Well... I think Ryuma looked so happy when he drank his tea, that was kind of cute XD)
... but I think sinking the ship isn't a good idea. The shadowless people in the woods probably don't have ships anymore and I Thriller Bark seems big enough for all the victims... so my theory is, that the shadowless people stay on Thriller Bark. (The question is, will Brooke stay there as their captain or will he become a mugiwara pirate?)
So... and I'm curious how Oda will manage the "Get the shadow back!"-story. I don't think that the entire crew try to catch all the zombies to purify them... maybe the shadows are released when Moria is beaten... (or someone throw salt in his mouth XD) ... (Or Brooke pulls one of his threads, he collapses into a pile of bugs and screams "What have you dooooone? My buuuugs, my buuuuuuuuugs!" )
-
If Thriller Bark sinks, it creates a lot of problems. First, how can everyone on board get to safety in time? Thousand Sunny is still moored in the docking area by the Spider-Mice Webbing. Unless Franky and Robin take care of this problem while attending to the (insert double adjective here) Trio, making a quick getaway will be tricky.
Second, there is the small problem of having a ship that big sink. If it goes down, it will create a giant whirlpool. This is not a problem if Franky has enough cola on board to blast off, but if not…
Third, as Hiso brought up, where do the shadowless victims go if Thriller Bark isn't around any more? At the very least, it should dock at an island to let its refugees off before disappearing from the story.
-
Hmm, the classic Faustian bargain. Moria revives Cindry for Hogback, in return for Hogback's life-long servitude making superior zombie constructs and undead chimaeras. I am curious about the story Hogback told Chopper and the others. Was it all a bold-faced lie to cover up the work he was doing for Moria, or does he really want to find a way to bring back the dead? If the Cindry Shrine is any indication, there might be a kernel of truth to that story. He seems tolerant of Cindry's current behavior, but I can't imagine he likes it. The real Cindry might not have been much better, though her pictures made her seem like a warm, friendly person. If the Plate-Smashing Fiancee` recovers her shadow, will Hogback continue pursuing the secret to bringing back the dead? Or could Chopper convince him to return to the world of medicine?
-
One thing I note about Cindry is she is different to the other zombies. She lacks banadges and is more "alive" looking then the other piles of rotting flesh around. You can't even see any signs of bones from under the skin on her like some zombies.
-
If the ship sank, why would the island sink? This isn't the Titanic, it's a giant ship built around an island. The island is on top of the ship and acts as the main body of the ship.
I can picture the outer boat (the lips and such) sinking and the mast breaking off, and then the island becoming a permanent addition to the Grand Line. That would work for me.
I can picture Moria as actually being a tiny guy inside a giant mechanical suit, and someone ends up busting the suit and then beating the crap outta Moria. Good times, that.
-

Why would the island float by itself? I thought it was just that the ship's carrying the island around… Wait, this is the OP world we're talking about.:getlost: Actually, does anyone remember what Brook said about the actual island? Is it special, or is it just a chunk of land from… West Blue, is it? (I really have to go back and read some more... can't remember a single detail.) Anyway, I highly doubt that it's going to float by itself, unless Brook has already informed us otherwise.
As for it becoming an addition to Grand Line, it would not be a "complete" island, since it's been established that it doesnt have that magnetic thingamagik for the log pose. Which is a shame, because then it would be like having an amusement park without a road leading to it.
So yeah, my verdict is to sink it. =P
-
thriller bark so far seems to be one of the most mysterious ship out of all one piece so far and there may be more lol but so far it seems that if so the island on thriller bark does become removed from the ship it would definatly sink due to the fact that it has nothing to hold it up on the water =( sounding dumb its a joke dont flame me =P
-
I don't care if Brook joins or not. For me he's already being awesome without the Straw Hats. As for the arc, it's good but not that great. At first it sounded fun with Luffy meeting Brook and all, but then when they disembarked in Thriller Bark, everything became terribly unexciting. It just became better after the General Zombies being introduced, but still…
I'm following this arc, but mostly because of Perona, Brook and The General Zombies. The rest is just a bunch of "meh".
-
Thats actually because she doesn´t seem to be put together from different bodies but just being based on the full body of the actress Victoria Cindry.
-
The left leg is different… Same shape, but there is a patten on it. I wonder if that was related to her accident. But still you have to wonder - why this actress? When Hogback has a freezer full of legendary fighters and have not, why worry about turning some random actress into a zombie?
-
Well, Cindry isn´t a fighter isn´t she. So reviving her is probably a different motive then when trying to revive fighters. Especially if you consider that one room with all the portraits of her. It´s just like the love chamber of an obsessed fan. Of course it isn´t said that this is Hogbacks room.
-
Maybe its Cindry's own room (hehee… But why would a zombie be obessed with its own form in previous life?). All we know is its in Hogback's mansion... Meh... Brain rain out of fuel. Can't think up anymore, dammit. :/
-
Come to think of it, just the body is Cindry, the soul/shadow is probably somebody elses. While it would be utterly ridiculous I can´t help but finding it at the same time a little amusing to have the soul/shadow of somebody who´s obsessed with Cindry being put in her very body. :D
-
I don't know if there is a other threat like this^^…
what's about the bountys of the straw-hats after this arc????
they WILL beat on of the Shichibukai!!!!
(i really hope it will be chopper^^:P:D)but whats about the all the other straw-hats????
robin and franky beat a lot of the generals...zoro and sanji beat just some of the picture zombies(hope they will fight some other strong oppenents!!!)and whats about the "Lame Trio"??????
-
I doubt they'll change at all. This arc is similar to skypiea in that the government doesn't really know the area exists, mindless zombies.
-
in skypea they beat "JUST" eneru..but now one of the shichibukai…the government MUST know about all teh things that happend
-
well, seeing that are in the Florian Triangle area, where not many people go and come back, at the moment, the Government will not know much about it unless Moria goes crying back to then after he's beaten, most likely by Luffy.
But I think once they get to Fishman Island, if Jimbei is there and Luffy beats him as well. The Government will find out eventually that he's beaten two Shichibukai’s and will be like "Aw s***"
Then we'll have the bounty increases before they go to the New World
-
I hope hey bounties will raise, ecpesialy(typo?) Choppers. Since… well... 50 beri... Do I need to say more? But to get back to the point. I myself doubt it will happen eventough Moria is a Shichibukai. This is cause, as I somehow got to my mind, The Thrilled park is in the middle of nowhere... It can't be found by any ordinary way (log poses, or what they are called again). Other fact is that WG does not know what Moria is doing or where he is. did that make my point clear? (Probably not...)
EDIT: Lame trio...? Rather PPT (Pure Pawnage Trio)?
-
Luffys bounty seldom rises in theese short in-between arcs.
Luffy just had his bounty raised for destroying a Marine Facility, just beating a second Shichibukai seems small in comparisment to me. He will probably have to do some more things before it warrents another raise of his bounty.
-
I doubt that anyone will get a bounty increase immediately after the arc. Following the patterns established, there won't be a bounty increase until the major arc is completed (ex. Alabasta, Enies Lobby, Arlong Park). However, the events of this arc may contribute to how much their bounties increase by at the end of the series of islands.
-

[…]WG knows where Moria is: Moria has been in the triangle for the last 5/10 years… do ya really believe that they don't know where he is? Moreover WG has always a mean to contact Shichibukai as confirmed when WG called the meeting to replace croccodile: they contacted all of them (Mihawk too... I guess he is harder to find than Moria but WG did anyway) but not all of them reply. But they know how to contact them.
Clear? -
I've just thought of something: Because of the 2 day coma rule, is it possible that this arc is actually a setup to have the weak trio's bounties raise, while Luffy's, Zoro's and Sanji's bounties stay the same?
That way there is a reason not to have the monster trio's bounties raised, and still shrink the huge gap between the bounties.
-
right now,in this moria arc,i doubt they change.but in fishmen island,i think the weakker/lower bounty pple would get an inc.
-
Jinbai might not even be in fishman island when they arive. shichibukai dont stay in one spot. Moria went to the new world remember.
-

Which doesn´t say if it happened before he became a Shichibukai or not. Personally I assume that it happened before while he still was on trying to become Pirate King as a free pirate until he got defeated and made a deal with the WG afterwards in order to find new ways to achieve his goal. And while Mihawk doesn´t stay on one spot Crocodile pretty much did. Not enough to determine what the others do.
But still true that Jinbei might not even be there. I mean other then coming from that place there´s no other reason to expect him to be there. I do hope to see him there but I won´t be suprised if we don´t.
-
And even if he is there how do we know he's going to be a opponent?
-
ok…im not a One Piece newb, but what the heck is this thriller bark and why is it so important?
-
Thriller Bark is the floating island ship of the Shichibukai Gecko Moira,
who is the main villian of the new arc. -
ok…so the new bad guy is a warlord of the sea...hmmm...hey, what have the warlords names been so far? Haven't we seen most of them yet? Also...can you patch together what sorta events have transpired in this new arc? I can't get it...
-
Are you serious? Now, I don't want to sound callous or arrogant and bog down the thread with this post, but… c'mon... are you really serious? I'm severely dumbfounded by this.
-
GGBA: One shichibukai still remain nameless and there is one slot empty, so we know the names of 5 shichibukai and crocodile who lost his title. (you can look up the five here: http://www.apforums.net/showthread.php?t=12891 or on wikipedia)
have you read the arc or? if not you should really read it instead, or reread it atleast once if you have already.
-
i tried reading it, but got so bored I couldn't anymore. And as for traitor Jim, I dont waste my time on One Piece arcs I dont care for. I however know just about everything in volumes 1-14…if that helps...
-
Your theory sounds pretty good but it's really hard to accept the fact that Cindry loved someone like Hogback :P
-
To those who deny that TB will sink, think about this. Why else would Oda make the place a ship instead of an island?
-
… It was really Moria that made it into a ship... =P
but it is still an island. i have a hard time to belive that a ship containing both water and landmass can float if the land cant float all by itself.
