In that mini-flashback in the top-right corner of page 7…is Brook bleeding?!
Chapter 456 "Demon from the Frozen Land" Discussion

But on the other hand, I think Ryuma is stronger than Brooke. A strong shadow fused with a strong body makes a strong zombie. The shadow/characteristic is the same, but who have the stronger body? Brooke or Ryuma? Thaaat's the question!
But that was the beauty of Onigumo's post:
Strength is a non-issue. Regardless of if he "wins" or "loses" the fight, Ryuma will still lose the shadow that currently animates him. -
Thanks BF.
900 is friggin huge. If Luffy's shadow rebels, then Thriller Bark is dust.
Then again, someone had the theory that if the zombie body is stronger than the shadow, then the shadow becames submissive. That would make sense.
It looks like we're gonna have an arc without the three powerhouses. Should be interesting.
And it looks like it's cemented for Brooke to join now.
Robin could easily beat the monster, though it would be kind of cheap. Just sprout an arm on its lip and throw salt in its mouth.
-
Unless Ryuuma beats Brooke badly without killing him, something he already did once, apparently. I suppose this time Brooke won't run away, and perhaps that'll make the whole difference in the duel.
By the way, am I the only one expecting MARIO to show up during that battle, since there's a big gate with his name behind Ryuuma?
Oh, and looking at Moria in that last picture and comparing him to the other guys' size, I don't think his size is messed up. Not as much as it looked before, though.
-
But that was the beauty of Onigumo's post:

But… I still think that Brooke looks really nervous. Maybe he knows that he can't win this fight... (or he's afraid what happening after this fight oo)
@ MrTeach
Where? oo Well, I think this dark lines on his forehead are just cracks. (Heh, Brooke's wounds can heal, too XD) -
In that mini-flashback in the top-right corner of page 7…is Brook bleeding?!
I don't see any blood. I do see his skull is cracked and some of his teeth are missing.
-
I have a theory about what might happen later on to do with the fights with Moria, Luffy and 900.
Okay I predict that once 900 is infused with Luffy's shadow, 900 will eventually disobey Moria's orders and those 2 will fight each other, the winner being 900. Then it's Luffy (once he's been woken up) that will fight against 900. Also the remaining 3 powerhouse's Zoro and Sanji will fight their own respective dopplegangers, like Brooke is with Ryuuma.
-
I wonder if Oda will show off Gear 3rd in 900. Definitely looks capable of Gear 3rd moves.
-
How about this for a fight: Luffy is still 900. Moria will find a way to become a giant, probably steal all the shadow on Thriller Bark and have it surrond him in a giant humanoid shape. Then we will have a giant monster battle on our hands. One that'll destory the entire ship.
-
My prediction: Something will happen next week that throws off 95% of the theories in this thread.
-
@ MrTeach
Where? oo Well, I think this dark lines on his forehead are just cracks. (Heh, Brooke's wounds can heal, too XD)That splotch of black right above his eye…socket. It doesn't really look like it would be hair, so I'm guessing it is blood. Of course, it could just be dirt or something.
-

It was made clear in the last chapter that Mario is a term to label the empty hull of the creatures that will become a walking, talking zombie once a shadow has been put into them. So that door in the back is probably the fridge were all the other lifeles bodies are stored in.
-

Ah, that's right… oo Maybe the shadow of his hair?
-
Ah, that's right… oo Maybe the shadow of his hair?
But…Brook is shadowless. Even back in that flashback. I mean, he was just beaten by Ryuma in that one.
-

Well, but there are shadows in his face in his more serious scenes, too… oo" Huh, we just have to wait for the fight to see if skeletons can bleed or not.
(... 10 bucks that Brooke will loose his shirt in this fight XP)

Except that it had 900 clearly maked on the door. Whcih means the room was specifcally made for that zombie.
But I see the zombie as being protective of those he considers his nakama. He will have a sense of humor, probably have a mundane artifact that he considers his greatest treasure, and will be amazed at the strangest things… I can see it now...
WOOAHH! He has a zipper on his back, I want to open it and see what's inside! (Open's Bearsy.)

Sanji's doppleganger is currently a penguin.
-
Just awesome.
900's design is the first truly scary thing I've seen this arc. Although once Luffy's shadow is inside it, I doubt it will be as badass. Brook vs. Ryuma will be cool too. And because of the 2-day coma, it looks like Luffy, Zoro and Sanji really won't get to do anything this arc.
Oda, you've done it again. Up until now, this arc was good and fun, but now it seems to be accelerating into Awesome Sauce.

Forgot that part. I'm guessing Mario is just a short term for "Marionette", then.
-
Thanks for the chapter.
Wow no one said it yet?
ITS OVER NINE HUNDRED!
-

@ MrTeach
Where? oo Well, I think this dark lines on his forehead are just cracks. (Heh, Brooke's wounds can heal, too XD)I think some of us are forgetting the possibility that Ryuma could disable Brooke without killing him. It'd suck, but it's possible. Ryuma must have done it before if he beat him last time.
-
But on the other hand, I think Ryuma is stronger than Brooke. A strong shadow fused with a strong body makes a strong zombie. The shadow/characteristic is the same, but who have the stronger body? Brooke or Ryuma? Thaaat's the question!
Ah, but see, Brooke actually strenghened [sp ._.] his body and mind in those 5 years. That's the whole point of rechallenging with the confidence he has.
But that was the beauty of Onigumo's post:
Strength is a non-issue. Regardless of if he "wins" or "loses" the fight, Ryuma will still lose the shadow that currently animates him.Well, can you prove [virtually] if Brooke can be killed?
I dunno, but I don't think so. And even if you say he can die from normal means, Brooke had his shit beaten out of him 5 years ago and Ryuuma stayed. I don't see how can't Ryuuma do the same this time yet still win. -
Except that it had 900 clearly maked on the door. Whcih means the room was specifcally made for that zombie.
I guess you probably misunderstand what we´ve been talking about. We´re not talking about 900´s door. We´re talking about the door on page 16 in the middle panel.
-
if Moria puts Luffy's shadow on 900, the first thing it will do is ask for food and insert his finger into his nose.
xD
-
hmm so perona loves cute things. does this mean she will end up fighting chopper and trying to kill him so dr hogback can make him into a zombie? i can see the fight happening that way and then robin or nami switching with him and taking over the fight. anybody think we will see monster point chopper vs 900 at some point? would be funny if they fight and then moria makes some comment about being pirate king and then 900 turns on him and then both 900 and monster point chopper attack him. these are the match up i would like to see…
moria vs luffy
900 vs chopper
absalom vs sanji
zoro vs jigorou
franky vs hogback
robin vs all of those famous zombies
nami vs perona -
After rereading the translation, I have concluded that this Kaido person that Geko was defeated by must be one of the 4 emporers.
-
Thx a lot BF, but wtf is .lzh?
-
@Rai:
Well, can you prove [virtually] if Brooke can be killed?
Of course I can't.
But I'm fairly certain that somewhere in a previous chapter it was mentioned that his DF power only works once – that it can't revive him a second time if he dies a second time. So assuming that this will be a "fight to the finish" (as so many grudge matches are in manga-land), Brook does run the risk of dying. That is, if he can actually die this time. And if he can't die, or if Ryuma just decides to disable him instead of kill him, then that sets things up nicely for someone else to jump into the fray and finish Ryuma off ...
-
No ridiculous zombie for Luffy? That's a shame, but I'll wait till 900 wakes up. I bet his first words will be "I WANT MEAT".
It would be pretty funny if Luffy, Zoro and Sanji woke up after those 2 days only to see the smoking ruins of Thriller Bark, Nami sorting Perona's treasure and Chopper patching up everybody else. Luffy would be dissapointed that the Zombies are gone.
-

But still, he can't die. His DF is still active, keeping him alive giving him imaginary bodyparts. Imaginary stuff are one category of stuff Ryuuma can't affect.
I don't think there will be a Death Match in the fight anyways, from Ryuuma's side, because he knows fairly well he will be killed if he kills Brooke. He's not that stupid.
But keep in mind that I'm just saying that so people can think what they need to when Brooke wins. Saying Brooke has advantage over things that are not proven will only mess the enjoyment from the fight and from the result. =O
-
Nice clean raw, can't wait for the translated. I don't read jap and I was hoping a translation would already be available.
I'm glad theres PLENTY of stuff happening in this chapter though. Zombie 900, Brook vs Ryuma, and the Robanky duo searching for their friends shadowless bodies (least I can assume, that should be priority #1).
-

I think another reason for a Nami VS Perona-battle is this entire "Cuteness"-theme. "I'm not just cute, I'm a warrior!" is one of Nami's catchphrase, isn't it? I think Perona could be a fitting enemy.
-
@Rai:
Well, can you prove [virtually] if Brooke can be killed?
Well, noone on Thriller Bark has interest in his death: If he dies, Ryuuma dies too.
-
Holy! 900 is gigantic. Thanks BF. This is a great chapter.
-
I think Brook will lose again. Then he'll learn how to defeat Ryuuma thanks to Zoro…
-
Two thoughts.
1. Usopp is ideal for taking out #900. He would need to use the slingshot, timing and aim to shoot a bag of salt into his mouth. And fast aim and timing is Usopp's specialty.
2. Brook has the actual advantage in the duel. If Ryuma defeats Brook, then he dies as well. If Brook defeats Ryuma, he gets his shadow back. Either way, Ryuma loses.
Im just gonna say, Usopp "shio boshi"(salt star), man this is the arc where usopp is gonna shine like in no other arc…
I think brook didnt know about the salt thinggy 5 years ago, this might be helpful for him too...
EDIT: Oh yea forgot... Luffys shadow additude is gonna affect this alot, just check out the "new guy penquin" which is obviously sanjis shadow, how he could disopey orders just for nami... i think the same prolly happen to Luffy...
-
It's looking more and more like the Straw Hats will have to fight their zombies to get their shadows back… although Moria may still be a significant threat, considering he made it to the New World at one point...
Sanji could kick PenDog's ass quickly, and then go do his "James Bond" thing...
And I nominate James Woods for the voice of Moria in the Thriller Bark movie. -
I think brook didnt know about the salt thinggy 5 years ago, this might be helpful for him too…
Regardless, he still needs to take him out right?

I think Brook learned the salt trick from Cindry
-
This chapter looks great
-
I actually am starting to care less and less about Moria. I want 900 to be the final villain, not Moria. I think the weak weak trio should all team up to kill Moria or something. Their bounties would skyrocket to their respectful place.
-
Namiis and Usoops are pretty fair. Chopper should be like $) mill though. No matter what he does though he doesn't get te credit because he's only the pet. They saw how amazing he was they just only concidered him a pet. I think no matter wht he does they won't respect him.

They saw what he did but they thought that it was Chopzilla, not him.
-
makes sweet love to Battle Franky It's under 10 MB, at last! Thank you!
A good chapter. Oda's artwork really shines here. Captain John and Jigoro look pretty menacing. Though Moria's design continues to remind me of…...... a lot of stuff.
-
did anyone notice that luffy's shadow is trying to run away in moira's hand?
-
In that mini-flashback in the top-right corner of page 7…is Brook bleeding?!
Pretty sure that's just a crack in his skull
-
**So.
Fucking.
Awesome.**
-
page 14 looks like trouble and 900# truly creepy .
-
this arc keeps getting better and better awesome.
-
The chapter is kinda disappointing, there is no flashback sequences. This chapter is pure and simple and strieghtforward, yet I hope in the next chapter we get a brief flashback on Oz. I would like to see what he did 500 years ago.
Plus is this northern continent the Red Line? Is it borderd by the North Blue? Is there an eastern, wastern and southern continent? I hope Oda explains this soon.
