Wow, it's been a while since the last time that I have been on this website. Here's a topic that I might want to discuss with you guys. What's is the new ship going to look like for the Straw Hat crews? Who's gonna make it? How strong is it? This topic may have been covered in the past so sorry if i repeat it.
The New Ship
-
-
I don't think it has had its own thread yet, but it has been heavily theorized/discussed in many of the chapter threads. But I guess there's no harm in having its own topic.
-
Well here's my possible ideas
1. It's gonna have same head as the old Going Merry has (the head with the sheep) because Luffy loves his special seat and it symbolizes the old going merry and that it hasn't been betrayed
2. It's a type of a train and it runs without a track (how? Beats me!)
3. It' gonna be huge! I mean even bigger than Galeon! Really heavy with full of metals
4. 3 to 4 carriage. One each for men and women. The front carriage is huge open area with spots that
i. Have weights for Zolo to train.
ii.A small cafe area where Sanji would work.
iii.Playground for both Chopper, Luffy and Ussop (suppose he joins back, which i think he will).
iv. A Ussop Factory but bigger5. It will have a lot of fire power and with stand a lot of force like (like Kuro Hina's spears)
That's what I have so far. Hehe, it's sorta farfetched so correct me if I'm wrong
-
I agree with whoever said this: Having Merry's old head on a new ship would be more than a little morbid. o_o
Other than that, interesting ideas.
-
I don't think it's going to have the sheep head. At first I used to think that, but now it seems morbid. ^^; Funny you should say it'll be a train. There was a color spread that Oda did that was basically a train with the Merry head. I don't think that's what the ship will be though. I'm still assuming it'll be a ship. A ship-shape ship.
I think Franky and Iceberg are going to build it together. Unless one has already been built, which is possible.
-
To CosmicDebris:
Well… I agree that Franky and Iceburg are going to build the ship, but I also think that Pauley will also work on it. I also think that they have already started building it. Although Franky and Iceburg don't meet each other but they don't have to meet in order to build a ship and the 200 mil berry could have been spent on it. If Luffy and his gangs help out enough I think Iceberg is going to present his crew with the ship and want to be like Tom and help out a great pirate and be proud of his work. Now, I think Franky is going to join the crew so I think Franky is going to work extra hard! : ) -
The Straw Hats think of the GM as a person, so it'd be morbid to them. But even to me, it's weird. You can't just rip the head off of something old and put it on something new, especially if you want to give it a "proper burial." You wouldn't do that to a teddy bear from your childhood, would you?
I kinda want it to be Kokoro's train. The idea of it is really cool, and it's already made. Even if Franky doesn't join, I don't want him to just take a ship out of his ass.
It'd also be cool for Galley-La to give them their best galleon.

**How is that morbid? Its a wooden sheep. Anyway, I hope they get a really big ship and have some ship battles.
-
Hearing Franky say, "My dream is to build a ship that can blah blah blah…"-> Doesn't remember.
I say it's gonna be Franky who will build the ship, but he will take some time to do it. But about him joining is really doubtful; after all, people who join the StrawHats usually have unaccomplished dreams...
-
If what Changsho said is true about Franky wanting to build the ship then the 200 mil berry definately went into his hobby. Now I don't think he's gonna work alone because it's gonna take forever to make teh ship if it's gonna be a good one which most likely it will be.
-
If the StrawHats (including Usopp) help in building it, they can customize it as much as they want ^^. That'd be fun…
-
Until that ship comes about, isn't his dream unaccomplished?
Franky joining is just my dream, but it really might make more sense for the ship to come from Galley-La.
-
Well…If Iceberg is going to help then Pauley is definately going to help then eventually the whole Galley-La would definately join to build the ship - to Buccaneer
-
IMHO, the new ship will be built by the whole Galley-La company and Franky. It's a sort of fitting ending for the Water 7 arc, signifying the mend of the rift between Iceberg and Franky.
How the ship will look like? Hm, I like Merry's design, but it will be too small if they're going to have more crews.
So, the ship has to be larger than Going Merry, but still in a manageable size. Perhaps after realizing what the Marines can do to them, the Straw Hats will start investing their time, energy, and money in ocean battle equipment and tactics. This is also where Usopp can shine.
Or they can steal a ship from the Marines.

Yea, I know you meant that metaphorically speaking, but…
Yup. I definitely don't want that either.
Seriously though, I do agree that if [this reads, Yumi is still refusing to let the GM go] there's going to be a new ship, I'd like it to come from Franky. And the shipwright from the Galley La, but I digress. Don't need to start that up again. [sheepish grin] After all, Franky is the one dreaming of building a great ship that can withstand the waves of the perilous Grand Line.
-
i think i agree with yumi on this one… except i think the going merry is firewood at this point. there's not going to be a big galley-la building action, because most of their foremen have well... were cp's. all that's left is for franky to produce one somehow. it's probably not going to have any resemblence to the going merry, and will draw from the design of roger's ship.
franky's words will be:
"ore wa kaizoku ou no fune wo tsukutta hito da (do-n)"
"i am the man who made the pirate king's ship (do-n)"ooshi78
-
I could see Franky implement some things from the Pluton blueprints in the new ship, making it not entirely an Ancient Weapon but still upgraded to handle all the new pressures that the Straw Hats will face later on.
-
It is very possible that on this Arc they will reveal about the Pluton and the design of the devasinating weapon. Now we all know that Franky loves to make fancy and dangerous ships and it's definately gonna have those descriptions. This might freak out the Straw Hat Crew but it's gonna go well with Ussops sharpshooting skills and Luffy's interest on bizzar machineries
-
I only know that it'll definetely have a big big bronze statue.
-
i think it will be a very reliable ship. something like Franky's Dream Ship. Prolly some specs gotten from Pluton, maybe the disonance device installed in the Umi Ressha tracks to scare sea kings. So many options…
and i'll guess it'll have something resambling the sheep head in Going Merry. but not a replica, that would be, as stated before, morbid.
also, i highly doubt it will be ANYTHING resambling a train and it will MOST definately be that SPOILERS 365 thingie... don't fit their style. Luffy is "old school", i think it will be a nice and sturdy fast galleon ( i'm sorry, haven't played Sid Meier's Pirates! in a long time and forgot the exact type of the ship, for anyone who played this game i meant the type the number one pirate has)
-
Yeah, I realized it second ago that they'll have a traditional ship if anything. Oh, and I avoided mentioning the RM's name for a reason.
-
it's gonna be a submarine…
ooshi78
-
Will it be yellow?
-
of course… and they're all gonna live in it.

While I favor the idea of Galley-la giving the ship it seems that Straw Hats are just going the leave the island before anything of that short's going to happen and I doubt that the story would go back to Water 7 anymore once it's left behind. So the burden gets down to Franky. I suspect the new umiressha end up into bits and Franky will rebuild a ship from it just like he did with the junk at the shipwreck island. So a steam ship. And now that we got back into Franky's dream I'll say what I always say: Building a dream ship is like to become the best shipwright there is - an impossible far away dream. While on a board, I would see Franky constantly improving the ship toward his dream, little by little, exploiting local materials and knowledge that Straw Hats encounter. Hell, this could be done by Pauly too. My point is, I hope the ship isn't going to be perfect to begin with. And of course, we still don't even know what did happen to the blueprints and on what Franky spend the money. Man, we don't even know whether Tom's alive or not, Impel Down perhaps?
-
I still kindda like their old ship, but if they were to upgrade it.
The ship shouldn't be too huge.
It should have strong Fire-power.
It should come in a nice shade. -

Well, this is turning out to be the arc that will start it all, so I think there will be some filler chapters, like in Alabasta. After all, they still have about 11 days left.

-
There´s absolutely no chance that they won´t return to Water 7 just because it wouldn´t be One Piece style leaving without a proper farewell. No matter what story arc we´ve been in where ever lots of turmoil and damage has been caused at the end the Strawhats said good bye after everything was put back to normal. And though the Strawhats reputation has been cleaned up again in Water 7 the city itself is far from being back to normal again.
-
I remember them saying they'd have to stay for 2 weeks. Day 1 ended with the Usopp fight, and it looks like it's midnight or early morning on the third day currently.
-
A new ship is going to be a train? Sounds unusual but let's see. I thing Marry's head should be kept in Usopp's room for memoir
-
Didn't they plan to stay a week? seeing as that's how long the log will take to set on W7.
-
Oh, I thought it was two. That'll make things really tight.

My issue with going back is with Straw Hats performing suicide attack to the government, after it they won't have time to spend on a vacation.
-
But if Eneas Lobby does have it's own logging time, and they eventually do return to Water 7, wouldn't the logging process on that island restart?!

(where's Ubiq when you need him?). I think it depends on whether Eneas Lobby is an island. If it is, it will have it's own magnetic field and logging time like all other islands of Grand Line. If it's not, I don't know. But even though the log would set to the next island they can still take a train and go back to W7 and have a new log there. I just don't think that Oda would take the story backward instead of going to a brand new island or perhaps Impel Down/Marine HQs. Furthermore they need to flee and fast before they are eaten alive by some government's big cheeses.
-
Yeh.. it does get a little tricky, because they've never really hopped between islands like this before with log pose. I think Nami would be smart to just leave the Log with Iceburg.
-
they really need to go back to water seven someday, coz' their luggages are all there, right? and they need food, and all this kind of stuff.
-

Not necessarrily. Maybe the times they´ve already speant at Water 7 remains recorded for a certain amount of time. And if they get back in time the Log Port would start to count from where the Strawhats left and not from the beginning.
I see similarities here with the whole Skypia/Jaya situation. Remember the Log Port pointed at Skypia but when the Strawhats were on Jaya they had to make sure to get to Skypia before the Log Port lost the memory of the island. Though this is a quite different situation then we would have now on Water 7 it might still be the same basics in having a short amount of time left before the Log Port changes memories.

I had forgot, they can't leave without Nami's trees and the waver (I'm getting overly anxious, why hasn't Nami yet employed it?). Perhaps they will come back after all. If they won't take their stuff to the train, that is.
-
Does she really even have the waver? Water Seven would have been the perfect place to use it. Crazy girl.
-
i think the merry will be a part of the new ship!it would in the middle of the new ship where they sleep.

Does she really even have the waver?Yep, in the chapter 303 "The Super-Rich Pirates" Nami's testing the waver she took along with her from Skypiea, the one Konis's father repaired. But what happened to the south bird which came down with them, that I don't remember at all.
I think the log issue is something to ask in a SBS, I wouldn't wait any real answer though :P.
-
i don't think Log Posts (Poses?) are all that intelligent. They are a metal magnetized that after a certain in a magnetic field(an island) they adapt to it and start to point to another field (a new island). I don't think it holds any capability of recording the time spent. That would be too weird, the physics of eletromagnetic fields are somewhat simple (at least the ones i've learned) regarding time issues. just think of a computer memory. it doesn't hold eletric impulses for more than 30secs after the computer is shut down…
my guess: if they go to Enies Lobby the field will restart the adaptation process and forgot all about W7 so they will have to stay a whole new week in W7 if they get in the area of a new Island.
also one leak in my theory above is that it's not specified WHY the Log Posts get a next island in the Grand Line.... but that's just a small glitch

Zoro should keep one of the birds. snerk
Okay; Impel down's located underwater, so we can expect water-related battles right? If Nami wants to fight, I see it as perfectly appropriate for her to use the waver, say, against Kalifa…
I guess they'll bring the waver with them on Kokoro's Umi Ressha.
-
I don't think the new ship will be very big, pirates allways prefered small, fast and agile ships, big ships aren't small, fast nor agile, so they will get a small ship although bigger then merry (space for the crew).
-
in the beggining luffy said i will get a huge ship. that means he wants a big ship and i hope he will get it
-
A small ship has more personality, I think. As everybody else has huge ships.
Black Beard needs a new ship too. It would be a quite funny incidence if they would come to Water 7 to buy one just after Luffy and companies has left the island.
