I'm really looking forward to this movie. I have a big spot in my heart for rodents, and Ratatouille delivers! Pixar/Disney films have always been really good (aside from Cars). This will also be the 2nd Pixar/Disney movie to be directed by Brad Bird (the 1st was The Incredibles). It's got a pretty original plot. A terminal rat wants to be a French chef, so he teams up with a human chef with very little cooking talent. Some would say it's similar to Mouse Hunt, but I don't agree with that.

It's premiere is set for June 29th. Who's going see it?

The moment I saw the preview before Cars (not to mention found out it was Bird…after The Iron Giant and The Incredibles, he can't do wrong), I knew I was going to see this movie. Also saw a bit of a preview (a five-minute thing) in Milwaukee when I was there last week…may need to see more but so far so good.

        Y'know, Negima WAS awesome…

        For the first 18 volumes.

What is this "Aside from Cars" thing? The only Pixar Movie I didn't like was Monsters Inc. Anyway, It looks interesting, but I might wait for Rotten Tomatoes to evaluate it…Why do so many people disklike "Cars" anyway?

If I think I'm insane, does it mean I'm not? Because a truly insane person wouldn't know that they are insane?

Yeah, this looks like one of those GOOD animated movies. Not like Happily N'ever After.

Whoa whoa whoa WHOA, how could you not like Monsters Inc.?! In my opinion that has to be one of the best animated productions ever, and probably the best 3-d animated movie ever made.

Anyway, I am actually looking forward to this. After the first teaser-trailer I thought it looked pretty dumb, but after this newest one with an actual plot in sight it looks pretty good.

Can't really explain the Cars thing either, but I just didn't feel compelled to see it. Though I did sneak into a showing just to yell "HEAT VISION" when Owen Wilson spoke and then left. Talking cars just don't do it for me.

This movie though seems interesting, especially it gains some points since the rat has a little floating French chef that he talks to.

Buena Vista Productions and Walt Disney Pictures did both Meet the Robinsons and Chicken Little.

Yeah, Robinsons and Chicken Little aren't Pixar, they're just WDFA (Walt Disney Feature Animation)

Anywho, Ratatouille looks great. I really didn't enjoy Cars, it felt kinda unoriginal to me, I mean the "character is taken far out of their comfrot zone, and learns a lesson in a new environment"

But this one looks great, I saw some scenes at Wondercon and they were not only gorgeous but very smart and funny. (The scene where Remmy and the chef dude meet by the river is hilarious)

My boss is interested in seeing this because his son shares a name with the rat.

Of course I'm going to see this. I love Brad Bird's work, so I can't wait. And I like the idea of a rat wanting to be a cook. Sure beats the hell of the implied plot of the teaser about a rat trying to steal good food.

Whoa whoa whoa WHOA, how could you not like Monsters Inc.?!

I asked myself this question and I came up with an answer…
First of all, I felt that they used "Boo" as an "awwww" factor, which has always been a turn off for me.

Secondly, there were one or two scenes that felt too Looney Toons to me. Not that there is anything wrong with Looney Toons, but I didn't feel like it fit with the movie. The Scenes in question were when Sulley kept on trying to put Boo back in her bed, and she seemed to keep re-appearing on the other side of the door. Seen it a hundred times on Animaniacs. The other scene was the garbage crusher scene, with Sulley doing his fainting act thinking Boo was being crushed.

Whenever I tried to watch it a second time, I felt like I was being talked down to in too many scenes. It is the only Pixar movie that I really ever got that feeling from, and have been unable to bear watching it a second time.

But I'll hold off my opinion on Ratatouille until I see the actual movie.

If I think I'm insane, does it mean I'm not? Because a truly insane person wouldn't know that they are insane?

Well, the scene was inspired by a Bugs Bunny cartoon.

As for Monsters Inc., I liked it even though there were a few scenes I didn't like. I gave it points for the creativeness of the scream energy shortage.

I'll most defentely see it, though it'll propably first be in a few months. Lousy cross-atlantic wait time.

So far, not a single Pixar movie has let me down; I find them all brilliant, though in different ways….Like Cars, for instance. Due to it's rewievs and reception, I thought Pixar had finally made a "Adequate" instead of "Awesome" movie, and was rluctant to see it, but I loved it.
It didn't have the action of the Incredibles, the humour of Toy Story or the Adventure feel of Nemo and Bugs life (personal fav). And sure it was damn Cliché, but I felt it was executed brilliantly making for a "smaller", but touching story.

I always like to see movies about humans than talking animals, so this will be a nice compromise. I just hope the animation will be as suprisingly breathtaking as Cars was (it always is because Pixar is pretty much on the cutting edge of anything animated).

I honestly thought I was going to hate the movie when it came out, though my mother loved the teaser. Then we both saw the movie. It went on to be my favorite of the Pixar films, while it also went on to be mother's least favorite.

And if just can't stop the burning sensation to make those claims beforehand, keep your words nice and sweet, because you never know when you're going to have to eat them.

The first Toy Story was pretty original when it came out, and it still would be if Pixar had attempted to repeat its success a little more creatively.

I can't imagine any other animated movie this year I'd rather spend 8 dollars on.

It has not only talented but creative animation fueling creative storytelling, and while the basic concept is not original in itself, the movie's handling of that concept is the most unique to date. Playing in limited release starting May 25th, you'd be lucky to be able to spend 8 dollars on it.

You really can't always tell from trailers. Big example at the moment is Surf's Up. Now I haven't seen it yet myself, but from the trailers I was convinced it was going to be utter trash, However, from everyone I know who saw it whose opinion I trust, it sounds worth seeing.
Honestly, not a single Pixar trailer really grabbed me. Even Toy Story looked dumb. So I gather from a variety of sources such as friend and professional reviews and the trailers before I decide whether I want to see the movie or not.

The Short movie entitled "LIFTED" before the movie began:

! The setting is a farm, and the Red-hair boy, Linguini, from the actual movie is being the one abducted by aliens. As the boy was being floated away through his room, he bumped into the wall. The alien that was abducting Linguini was actually being observed from a professional. He starts to panic because of the many hundreds of flickers(buttons if you will) that control the levitation device. He starts to hit every button possible and gets marked by the observer with a non-emotional look. As he went crazy, the alien finally gets it right, but the window and tree gets in the way. As the human finaly gets into the ship, he lets go of the switch, making the human fall before actually being abducted, as Linguini almosts falls onto the ground, the observer fixes everything and gives the alien a disappointed look. He starts to cry and the observer lets the little alien drive the ship, but soon destroys the entire house except for Linguini. He survives and as he wakes, he falls down in what appears to be an erosion. END

He was actually living in an old woman's house with his family. The family goes to find food and Remy complains about how they're stealing the food. Then, before his dad (the leader of his clan) starts to eat his garbage apple, Remy saves his life with his gift, his nose. He found out that the garbage they were about to eat were infested with Rat Poison. That was the first time Remy's dad ever appreciated Remy; but Remy's gift was being used as a "checker." He checked all the food for his rat clan if it was clean or not. But Remy always went into the house to look for ingredients; Remy wanted to live a more humane lifestyle. Remy tried to taste "real" food; it was exactly how he imagined it. Remy tries new things and goes by his culinary hero's, Auguste Gusteau, book called "Anyone Can Cook". Remy finds a mushroom and with his brother Emile, tries to improve that mushroom into something delicious. He uses the smoke from the roof of the little house but gets struck by lightning and actually goes with what Remy wanted. Along with Emile, they sneak into the old lady's house once again to look for more spice Saffron. But as Remy looked for the spice, he looked at the cooking channel and finds that a critic's words put Gusteau down in the dumps saying how "Anyone Can NOT Cook" and ruined his 5 star restaurant into a 4 star restaurant, and then soon a 3 star restaurant. A few days later, Gusteau dies. Remy's shock awakens the old lady and she takes out a shotgun shooting all over the place to kill Remy and Emile. But she soon makes a huge hole in her ceiling and discovers the whole rat clan. The rats all evacuate and move to a different location by their pre-planned boat. Remy goes to get the book by Gusteau, the only thing that keeps him going to become a cook.

We'll see what it's like when 200+ people review it. But so far so good. (and I would rather not even be tempted by the spoilers.)

I think that was one reason I personally didn't like it. None of the Pixar movies are exactly realistic in any way, but for some reason the idea behind Cars was a little TOO hard to beleive. (no people or animals, and little bug-cars made it even harder to get sucked in)

And on top of that, I really didn't think the story was that great. A big time city guy/celebrity shows up in a small town and is stranded, learns an important lesson, blah blah. That's original -_-

But Ratatouille I'm definately excited for. I've heard alot of positive early reviews about it, and the animation looks great.

END

                                                                                                        Major Freakin Spoilers:

! Remy, the blue rat and protagonist of this story, wasn't always under the city life.

! As Remy almost gets killed, he tries to catch up with the rest of his clan in the river leading to the sewers. But Remy ran into two different paths and, of course, goes into the different path and was lead to the sewers. Remy only had his book, and because of his loneliness, he starts to go through the book and starts to imagine Gusteau as a figure of his imagination. It tells him to look up and check around, Remy goes through many obstacles and odd scenarios, and finally reaches the top to see that he was in his dream city, Paris. Remy also found the restaurant Gusteau's; or was lead by his imaginary Guesteau (I.G. from now on). The scene changes to the kitchen. Linguini, red-haired klutz, meets the current head chef, Skinner. He hires him as a garbage boy (not necessarily him) and Remy spies on the kitchen. He sees that the garbage boy slips and drops the soup. He makes it taste absolutely horrible. Remy sees it and trips into the kitchen. Trying to make his way out, he goes through many obstacles such as the oven and carts. As he makes his way out through the window, he smells the soup almost about to gag. So Remy decides to fix it, influenced by I.G. But Linguini finds Remy fixing it and catches the rat but does not show it to Skinner. The soup goes out to the unknown food critic, and it turned out she liked it. Linguini was then a cook of the kitchen, he was to make another similar soup to that again. But then, the rat was found, and Linguini was to dispose of it. But finds out that Remy can understand him and such and the 2 team up. They go back to Remy's place to crash. Remy makes omelettes (by stealing) and does not get a chance to eat. They try to find a way to work together, first under his shirt, then they solved it by, unusually, using his hair. They practice all night and finally get it right. Linguini makes the soup again and then was told that he was to learn more if he was to succeed. He was being trained by Collette, the tough girl of the kitchen. Meanwhile, Skinner looked at the letter Linguini gave him earlier (forgot to mention this)and finds that Linguini might possibly be the son of Gusteau. He calls his lawyer and uses Gusteau's old hat hair to confirm through a DNA testing.
