I need cosplay ideas.

I'm usually very shy and a lurker, and hate creating my own threads… but I'm absolutely stumped.

I'm going to Otakon this summer, and I really want to cosplay, but.. I have no idea who! And I suppose I'd like to limit this to One Piece characters, even though it's in general discussion... I just didn't want to spam the General One Piece board with such a boring topic.

The only problem is... I have NO idea who to cosplay this time! Usually I have a character planned out months in advance, but this time... nothing. I want a new costume, not just rehashing an old one. On the day my boyfriend cosplays Sogeking, I'll be tagging along as Chopperman. However, the other day, he's going as Thriller Bark Usopp, and I just don't know what to do.

Here's a link to my cosplay thread for pics of what I've done in the past... and if any of you have suggestions I'd love to hear them, since this is the best place I could think of for One Piece specific ideas.

I had really considered cosplaying Vivi but I don't think she's much of a match for Thriller Bark Usopp… hm... I dunno, maybe?

Mihawk is a good idea though. I don't think I have the means to pull it off on such short notice, but I'll keep it in mind.

Captain Usopp, I definitely think Sanji–how about a costume no one does much of his? Ooh! Be Sanji in his wedding clothes from... whichever movie that was. First one, I think?

Mihawk? lol Not a big Mihawk fan... but a cool idea nonetheless. I really wanted to cosplay Pell, but I have no Chaka... and I really -really- wanted to to cosplay Cindry, but we haven't seen her colors yet (have we?).

Rargh. It's so tough to decide... Conis would be -amazing- but I hate to be Conis when I'll be with a Thriller Bark Usopp.

How about Perona? If your boyfriend is going as Thriller Bark Usopp, another female from Thriller Bark would work perfectly.

Or Cindry before or after she died.

Nothing on them yet, although Nami was featured in a color spread in Chapter… 453, I believe.

Personally, I pictured zombie Cindry looking like Sally from "The Nightmare before Christmas", as for Perona, I picture her outfit mostly black and white, with bright pink hair.

well wouldn't that be the fun part, is deciding your own colors before official colors are released? I think it was eggy a little while ago, made a pic in color with 2 girls from the new arc. I thought his colors were awsome.

I don't think there's anything on Perona or Cindry (which sucks, because I really want to cosplay Cindry but don't want to risk getting the colors wrong) but there was a color picture with Nami's current outfit in it a few chapters back. I'm too useless to be able to link you to it, but her shirt was a pinkish peach color. I think it would be totally awesome if you did that costume along with Usopp.

I considered a Lucci cosplay, actually–namely because his VA is going to be at Otakon.

Hm... I found the colorspread with Nami's costume from Thriller Bark in it, but it doesn't show her skirt or shoes at all. So again, I guess that one is out. Sadness!

Well, hopefully the cover for Vol. 46 will showcase either Cindry or Perona's colors, if you're still gunning for that route. The Chopperman/Sogeking idea is too cute, btw!^^

I think I'm gonna go as L. Everything just seems to be working out for that. (but hey, there is another con in toronto later in the summer) besides, I tend to slowch, and I can be all gangly and wierd like L. XD

Whoot! L is amazing. Mostly because Kappei is an amazing VA, but y'know, L's a great guy too. XD

I've tossed around the idea of cosplaying Merry (the person… not the ship XD), as well as Lucci, and I might be seriously entertaining the idea of cosplaying the Going Merry's spirit... thing. Raincoat, hammer, etc.? Klabautermann, that's what it's called.

But all in all I am still highly undecided. -_-;

i think cosplaying the boat would be interesting, if you could figure out how to pull it off. the spirit is really unique, but can you make it recognisable as that? I can see some people bothered by the question "what are you supose to be" but others might enjoy the conversation starter.

Yeah… but... I've gotten used to being completely unrecognizable at conventions. (Tis what happens when you cosplay a certain self-proclaimed god at a very tiny convention... one person knew who I was!) So that doesn't bother me so much. ^^;

you know who's overlooked? Dragon. He really hasn't had many appearances, and no one seems to care. I wonder why….Nobody suggested luffy, but I don't think anybody would want to be luffy, because he's so common. Why not Gin or Pearl(XD)? That would be so funny!lol

@Chaos Inferno19: You could go as Aokiji or Daz Bones, if you're that concerned about what skin colour the character has. Hell, you could do Gaimon as well if you wanted to.

Actually, I was thinking of Gin for Kaya, but I thought that charicter isn't easily recognisable. Though, aperently, Kaya likes that. I think you'd do a good job of that.

As well, I would be cold, as I always get cold. Then, there's the whole arm thing. I'm fussy when it comes to cos plays. it can't just resemble, it has to look good. Hmm, if I could find something to put on my arms, maybe it would look decent if I covered it with panty hose?

Question for the ladies. How do you carry all your stuff when you cosplay. Do you just bring your purse? That kind of interfears with your cosplay though. I'd just get a cheep wallet but I wanna bring my digital camera as well.

I generally just try to bring a purse or bag that looks like something the character would potentially own, or at least something that doesn't clash with the costume.

Brooke unfortunately will have a very cheap look no matter what. Panting yourself or wearing a skeleton suit, either way you look like you just went to a Halloween story and came out after spending $8 bucks.

And while Hina doesn't get cosplayed a lot, I have seen cosplays of her. I have yet to ever see a Paulie cosplay.

actually, I went today and got a mini guys wallet, and a nice little camera case that I can stuff a thing or 2 into. only the essentials I guess.
