I start this topic because flashbacks are discussed in several other topics, e.g.

These flashbacks haven't really done anything for him as far as I'm concerned, and they seem to be giving much more development to Tom and Iceburg. Even Kohza's flashback appearances had more development than Franky's have had so far.
It seems to me that flashbacks are sometimes used just for explaining past events (like Waipaâ€s, Viviâ€s) while others also show the emotions of the main characters. While Waipa had a rather long flashback, we never saw HIS personal feelings. In contrast to this flashback, Frankyâ€s emotions are shown in his flashback. I think it is interesting that we hardly see any of Tomâ€s, Kokoroâ€s or Iceburgâ€s feeling, even though this trial should affect them as much as Franky. This situation seems similar to Nojiko telling Namiâ€s story with Namiâ€s emotions while her own feeling (about being poor, loosing her mother and sister, getting a tattoo to cheer her sister up) are never talked about.
Another important point in the emotional flashback (or stories) of main characters is the mistakes they made and their feelings of guilt about them (Luffy, Sanji, Chopper). Frankyâ€s flashback seems to fit this type of flashbacks.
