I hate to bump an old thread like the guy above me but…apparently there is going to be a spin-off featuring Shishio.
Poor Watsuki...the guy can't do anything original so he's stuck with "one-trick-pony" Rurouni Kenshin stuff (probably for the rest of his career). Though, this might prove to be interesting regardless.

Hi guys, I was not sure where else I could say this so i'mma saying it here: Please do watch Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno. There are some noticeable differences with the anime/manga, but if you ask me the movie already gave me more than i could ask for.

Check it out! Watsuki made a short special featuring Shishio! Or rather, Shishio and Yumi, their first meeting before the events of the Kyoto Arc.

Also makes Shishio seem a little more human than just the "psycho mummy-guy," and Yumi more interesting than just the "Shishio-obsessed geisha."

Was Hoji that skilled as a marksman? I think I missed that in the main story.

And that was after Shishio's arc.
And seeing Iwanbo again after all this time and knows its actually the puppeter its where the crazy stuff is in. -

I don't think it ever really came up in the main story. I don't think Hoji was ever put in a place where he had to protect himself, although I do think he was shown with a rifle at one point. So Watsuki was able to have freedom to write.

Art is still crappy, especially the fight scenes. Sojiro cutting off that guys head looks pretty awkward.
I was expected a grey morality thing going, since but when the not-villains had to fight the child-kidnapping villain, that was pretty much never gonna happen.
Now I'm just nitpicking at this point, but-Good Stuff
Yumi offering her life is pretty chilling, the hell scenes were practically the coolest part of the series anyway. "Brilliantly, vividly, devour me"! (gets stabbed)
Shishio and Yumi are an… interesting couple. I do wonder how Yumi became a super Shishio fanatic, though, she still seemed somewhat irritated when she found out Shishio caused her life to be so terrible, unless I read that wrongly.-Other stuff

Kaguzushi sure was a beast technique, Shishio went to finish him off right from the start, that guy TBH can curbstomp Aoishi and Sanosuke imo..

I liked his Frankenstein series. Sadly that apparently wasn't popular enough to keep going.
Oda has devoted his career to OP. He said that after it eventually finishes he won't do any more series, just one-shots or specials.

I had hoped that Rurouni Kenshin would be able to continue this new story arc for a while longer, but now if he goes to jail he could very well never finish the project. I have to wonder what his writing partner and wife Kurosaki Kaoru is going through right now?

I was just thinking that. It feels like almost every day some famous guy turns out to be a sex offender.
I happen to like Kenshin, too. The anime specifically, as well, which has excellent direction and atmosphere. So what do you do here?
The story itself doesn't promote anything Watsuki has done. There are a couple of authors of stuff I like that have said horrible things, but not really associated with the story itself and not many that have done something actively. So to me it's the severity and association with the story that determines my support. It's kind of a tough thing to consider.

That was certainly not a headline I expected to see when I woke up this morning, but yikes especially at that deposition statement. That seals the deal doesn't it?
I was never a huge fan of Kenshin - it was one of the first non-Dragon Ball manga I read but it was never an all-time favorite or anything, but I can certainly imagine the betrayal the fanbase must be feeling right now. I feel bad for them, and especially the victims. If this was part of a larger investigation I hope for everyone's sakes it doesn't get any more sordid.
