I don't see Yamcha's voice that fitting for Zoro, honestly..
It'd work if he played it a little deeper and scarier than normal.

Tienshinhan's VA would be better imo.
Or the guy that did the Commander guy the fire alchemist on Full Metal Alchemist
Yamacha always sounded like he had his mouth stuffed with potatoes to me. I can't imagine him as Zoro.
I'm sorry, I'm still rooting for Vic for Usopp.
So am I. But I'm still also rooting for Spike. That guy is so underused.
@Pass:

Although I agree that Spike Spencer is incredibly underused, I'm still along the lines that Spike Spencer would be severely miscast as Usopp. I'm thinking he would do well to be a background character, or a supporting role in some arcs, but I don't see him as Usopp.
I think Crispin Freeman would be a great Sanji. When I heard his voice as Gale in Rogue Galaxy, I thought it fit Sanji perfectly.

LMAO- actually, I think you might be on to something was playing that game yesterday
Honestly, a lot of VAs could pull of Sanji well- its HOW they do it. All I've seen in fan dubs is someone making him sound cool and collected- ALL THE TIME! He never yells, always has that 'sexy' (more sleezey) voice. Not good. >_<
Always thought Michael Rosenbaum could pull him off well, than again, maybe I'm something of a Luthor fan ;P
I can see Spike Spencer as Usopp, but he works for Viz now. The latest voice he did was Hanataro in Bleach.

Viz doesn't have in-house dubbing, and VA's can be employed wherever they choose. Since Spike Spencer resides in Texas, FUNimation could easily employ him, but like I said, Spike Spencer does NOT work as Usopp, no matter how you look at it.
Lol, It's Tobasco Star. I just said Salsa because it rhymes lol. Oh, and I believe FUNimation have stated they're keeping death too.

Oh man, Michael Rosenbaum would make an awesome Sanji.
I think the person who did Laharl in Disgaea would be pretty good, not perfect though.But I don't think that's gonna happen since she's in a different group. Or not in a group at all. Oo;
I AGREE~! I love her voice for tough, rowdy boys. She also played Musashi in Brave Fencer Musashiden.
I was referring to how you were talking about people were only voting for him from [adult swim]. You sound like the people who call those who have only seen anime on Cartoon Network "not anime fans".
If you read my post, I said " I WONDER~!" As in, I was wondering/asking.
But for the record, if you've only seen anime on CN, you like anime but I wouldn't consider you an anime fan. That's like saying "I'm a comic fan!…But I never actually bought a comic or anything."
How about Kirby Morrow, or the one who does Inuyasha, Richard Ian Cox I think. There pretty good (along w/ Sangos, Kagome, Kikyous, and mosto f hte other major characters). And some people in DBZ are pretty good.

Should that have made me laugh like it did? Did you just pull the "real fan" crap?!

Actually its more like casual fans. The kind that just watch whatevers on tv or whatevers popular at the time and don't care about anime beyond that. They are the only people dub companies really care about (because they provide the most money) and the rest of the fanbase with common sense completely hates. A good 75%+ of the Naruto fanbase make up these people (as that and stuff like Bleach and DBZ is the only things they watch), as well as everyone watching a version of One Piece that isn't the sub/non 4Kids based dub.
Casual fans have the potential to rise above that level, but while their at it they don't deserve any kind of equal placing among the anime community.
Its basically the same thing as the people who call themselves gamers but only play stuff like Madden and Halo.
Personally I hope Scott Mcneil does someone; he would be great. I dunno who he could do, but he would do a good job anyhow. If you ever seen Beast Wars: Transformers he did so many characters in that. Though he broke out of his role of Silverbolt, and got back into his regular voice in one line, "But you SHOT me!"

That's… just a bit elitist.
That's not right>.> A true anime fan is one who loves it with his or her heart and soul and not one who has to go to cons and buy merchandise especially if they can't. If they appreciate it just more than a cartoon but a piece of art and if every other form of entertainment is second rate compared to anime, then that's a true anime fan.

Puts on shunglasses Indeed I did.

So American cartoons can't be art? This is a slippery slope guys.
I do believe, if you refuse to even give anything outside of what airs on CN a chance, you aren't a fan of anime as a whole, but rather a fan of specific series. Especially if you're one of those CN idiots who thinks, if an anime doesn't air on american television, then it MUST suck!
Are there people who really think that, though?
When I was 10 I watched stuff like DBZ and Pokemon every day, when I was 12-13 I ALWAYS had to catch the newest YYH episode, I watched it almost religiously. I'd seen tons of anime on TV and was just starting to get into manga.
I daresay I was a fan. I didn't read scans or watch fansubs, and I had no DVDs at the time, but that didn't make me inferior.
That's… just a bit elitist.
points to Naruto forums everywhere
Do you really want to be considered the same as them? Its not really thinking your better than them as it is liking and understanding anime more. To them its just a passing interest because their friend told them about that show. Once Naruto is over half of those people wont even stick around. They'll leave and then a new batch of kids will come for the next big craze, just like with Pokemon and DBZ. Thats the general idea of it.
And the fact that you are here now means you don't really fall into that category.
OH HOW DARE THEY NOT LOVE ALL ANIME AND WATCH IT ALL IN SUBS. LET US SHUN THEM!
But the way you were talking really was putting on the feeling of "Look at me and my superior nerdy ways!"
Look, I'm a hardcore anime geek, but seriously, saying that people who only watch a couple shows on CN "don't deserve equal placing" is kind of rediculous. Just because they don't go to cons or own a bunch of merchandise or have the whole thing downloaded to their computer doesn't mean that they're an inferior fan.

I really meant just the people who choose to watch whatevers popular and not bother with anything else. They come for the fad and they leave when its over.
Aah.
Well, they could still enjoy it xD
Yeah- lets not lame this thread.
If you watch anime as much as you watch normal TV and like the show- your an anime fan.
END. OF. STORY.
If you enjoy something, then your a fan of the aforementioned, thats all.
@Jedi:

Inuyasha was an Ocean Studios dub. Most of those guys reside in Canada, so its doubtful that we'll be hearing Morrow or Cox.
Excuse me>.> I don't even watch CN. There's never anything good on there. I watch everything online. I try and reasearch as many animes as I can and try to watch em all. I've alreay finished watching several anime series. I don't care about the tv show fads. Anime could be banned from TV and I'd still watch it online. I just find your criteria to be too elitist I will stick by my fact that if you really like the show with your heart and soul, sooo much that you try to learn everything you can about it and then you learn about other anime from this show, that makes you an anime fan. Its about liking not contributing>.> And anyway, many anime fans are made by CN who introduce them to anime where they can follow it up as mentioned above. It's wrong to say they're not anime fans. Oh and some American cartoon art might be good but it always pales in comparison to japanese anime. I mean they really take it seriously there, it's a huge entertainment industry. Just by compariosn, you can see how superior it is.
Just when I was about to say that people are completely missing the point of FUNimation dubbing the show = Texas VAs only…now I think people are missing the point of what the THREAD is about anymore.

That was probably the greatest line in the entire Beast Wars series.
Still, I stand by John Dimaggio for Franky.
I think that he has would be perfect for Franky….too bad it'll never happen
The page 1 FAQ still needs to be updated, by-the-by…

Eh, well that's a good thing since I won't need to be hearing from Richard Cox. I suppose he makes a good Inuyasha, although I can't stand the voice… but he was an awful choice for me when he did Burnerman.EXE, Shani Andras and... oh wait he didn't TomahawkMan I think... that was a dream. But yeah I admit that didn't really have to do much with the thread... just thought I'd put my 2 cents for a bit...
Yeah, let's not get onto off-topic rants, please.
According to the Anime Expo site, Funimation's press conference where they unveal something "big" about the One Piece dub shall take place on July 1.
That is all.
July 1st couldn't come fast enough.
When are scientists going to learn to speed up time already?
Alrighty, then. That's not too long off. Just a little under a month.
When are scientists going to learn to speed up time already?
They did. It's a little method called pass out drunk.
Well I don't know about FUNimation, but on July 1st Toei Animation, Inc. is holding a discussion panel entirely dedicated to "One Piece". Eisaku Inoue, Konosuke Uda, and Justin Cook will be there, and you can bet I will too.
