New stuff from my new manga! (still crap)

Main character from my manga, he has typical ESP powers, throw objects at people and stuff, but his attacks are shown as purple hands (sorta like robin). So if he's throwing a chair at someone, instead of him just standing still, I plan on vizualizing it as a hand. TOO BAD I CAN'T DRAW IT YET.

:sad: That's a really depressing outlook…you should be more positive. We all didn't start out drawing masterpieces. Actually...I still haven't gotten there yet. It's just "acceptable", all good things take time, and cultivation throughout the years...
Plus. Some people draw stick figures, at least you're not at that stage of your life anymore (though I do have a friend who draws "sexy" stick figures...XD okay they're not sexy, just funny.).

Reaux's name, comes from his fighting ability. He's incredibly fast, and RARELY gets hit. When he does get hit, he goes berserk. His weapon of choice is the dagger.
Ou is the ESP user of the group, and powers the Black Rose. His powers are generic ESP powers, but are visualized by purple hands.
Reston is the swords man of the group. He has some psychic powers inside of him, allowing him to use an invisible swords of sorts, consisting of steam pouring of his poores, which is like an insanely hot jet stream coursing from his palms. These steam powers really over exert Reston though, so it's only used as a last resort. Usually he'll just use any pole/sword like weapon he finds near by.

Inspired by the espada color spread, its The 9 Circles of Hell (1 is not pictured , which is the leader)
All of them are named after bands/artists except 1.

It's still not the greatest, since I'm still really bad at shading, but I think I'm improving.
I've seen worse. Just try practice as much as you can, it doesn't get good overnight.
Good character designs, although some of them look kinda familiar.
It looks like your drawing are getting better so keep it up the good work.
Some people from my story, only the middle one and the guy to the right of him are definite, the other designs are pretty iffy.
The middle guy uses a scythe until he gets his "power up", then he uses fists.
The far left guy will use water
Mid left uses a sword..
Mid right uses lightning..
Far right uses healing techniques/medicine but offensively

Good drawings. If u want, I have a few suggestions.
1. USE GUIDELINES
The 1st rulle of drawing unless you rock.
2. People arent flat, think 3d.
3. If you want, draw light outlines in pencil, then ink it with a good pen, just dont use crappy 10 cent pens.

There not that bad, I am gonna be a bit critical and harsh though. The bodys are pretty decent, but the faces and features on the face… maybe spend a few days or weeks just working on eyes, hair, head shapes, noses, mouths and ears. It will really improve your art.
Don't just go and say "I can't grasp shadows.." Because no one can. Study the darn thing, look it up and start studying shapes. Eventually you'll master it.
Also, I wanna say as an extra with e1n's advice, firstly first, COPY. Look at OP or Naruto or whatever and just try to copy it with eye-hand coordination. And in FREE HAND STYLE. As in, a reaaally sketchy sketch. The more you go into made-up details, the more messed up it'll look without a basic shape and proper experience with basic shapes.
btw, maybe it's just me, but eyes are extremely easy, no matter which kind, so I suggest you to try that first. There isn't a thing as an original eye, so just pwn something as a combination from various stuff you say until you see it okay.
I tried to stray away from the just standing there doing nothing, and went for more of a color spread type thing. It's still not great, but I'm impressed with it. My scanner doesn't really scan all that well, so that kind of made it look a bit worse.
If anyone's interested, these guys are from my like, 10th try at a manga, but I've been rolling with these 5 guys for awhile. Middle guy is the main character, and he's what I like to call a Successful Naruto. He was thrust into a parallel world, ruled by a council made of 5 fantasy races (Orcs, Ogres, Dwarves, Elves and "Beastmen"). The Beastmen had a legend where when a boy fell from the sky he would overthrow the destructive council, and raise to become King of their world. His power ups would be getting closer and closer to a true Beastman, and overall becoming the Feral King.
The guy with the dread locks that barely scanned is a veteran soldier in the Human rebellion. He's a weapon's master, a male version of Ten Ten pretty much.
The guy with the bushy eyebrows is an explosions expert. Eventually he can create his own bombs and light them without fire being needed (bogus manga physics)
The generic looking guy is a camouflage expert nicknamed The Mist, able to blend in with pretty much any environment, and a master at stealth combat.
Finally the big bag bruiser, who just overpowers his enemies with strength. He turns out to be half Orc, but just wants to help out the human rebellion due to the inhuman treatment by The Council.
It's basically an Army manga fueled by fantasy, which I thought was unique.

Yeah, that's a bit closer for a quality drawing. Though, for now, your biggest problem is HANDS.
Try to study them a little or something, they are completely off. And fix their stick figure base until it seems totally natural, they seem kinda.. sticky. One gets into the other and so on.
Dude thats a whole lot better than what i could do, as i have just very well lost all my drawing abilities 5 years ago, so cheer the hell up.
You really should stop insulting your art, if you are doing that, it means you don't believe you can draw well or that you don't enjoy it. Find a manga with your favorite art style, and try to model features off them, maybe even make characters that are basically exactly the same. Then once you feel you have made a gigantic improvement, start drawing your characters your own style.
I think I'm a bit more confident about my art now, it's improving, slowly but surely. I'm basically taking One Piece, Bleach and Naruto and trying to splurge it all into one.

"My name... Kazu Icarus. What was that? It was just an act. I can't be couped up in a school for my entire life. For all my life, I've been forced to goto school with these miserable humans, believed to be one myself. My mother was a human, and the only one to raise me... however I never knew my father, but what I do know, is he was a beastman. The beastman rule our area with an iron fist.. and it's my job to stop them. When I get myself kicked out of school, I head to my secret spot to train. One day, I'll be stronger then a full fledged beastman... one day."

! The blue sky turned to red, the grass turns into rocks and sand.. the wind howls through the lands, and as our hero looked back at the dome like prison, Ikki smiled. He smiled, for he was finally free. Free to take charge, as his reign, reign as The Feral King.
itll be a lot of work if you do it, but youd really improve your art if you practice drawing things from life. do simple stuff like pencil sharpeners and can openers until you grasp dimension.
and keep it up, if drawing is something you really wanna do, dont be stingy with buying artbooks and good supplies.

Not gonna lie, he was my inspiration.
I had a breakthrough idea for a manga.
An unnamed world has been at war for as long as man can remember. The world can be compared to a modern day Sparta, as kids are taught to fight at young ages.
In the City of Peace, children strive to become Mercenaries, whether they want riches upon riches, or want to achieve a dream. In the Peace Academy, students are taught the ways of battle. Classes on swordsmanship, archery, hand to hand combat, even elemental manipulation exist in this school.
Within the body exists a complicated circuit of energy that I call Energis atm. Every part of the body is meant to deal with a certain type of Energis, the palm deals with Elemental Energis, by simply looking at the marks on your hand you can tell your Elemental type. The fists and the feet are Break Energis types, meant for hand to hand combat. The Energis system is what I like to call Naruto's chakra system done right. Energis types differ from the tip of your head, to the end of your big toe, allowing for mountains of weird powers and different type of fighting styles.
The Peace Academy has always held a rivalry with the Demise Academy in the neighboring city of Demise. Weakling, Rain Doku, is known as the weakest student at the Peace Academy. He can't hold a sword up, even with two hands, lacks the accuracy for ranged attacks, and his elemental affinity of Water is nothing but a trickle.
However in legend exists 8 Kings, blessed with the power of manipulation of their element to an extreme. Unknown to Rain, he is one of these 8 Kings, the King of the Seas. Of course, he doesn't awaken these powers overnight. With the Mercenary exam coming up, Rain must train his powers, in hope to become a Mercenary, and achieve his dream of being number 1 in the academy.
Of course, the world starts off small, but gradually zooms out into the world, as Rain becomes a mercenary, meets new friends, learns of new Energis, and a hidden danger within his school. It starts off as a school manga, but gradually turns into an epic battle for survival.
A drawing of Rain is coming eventually.
That's not bad. You'd be amazed how many people'd love to be able to draw like that. You want help right?
The human body is roughly eight times the length of the head.
Male bodies have the waist halfway, so legs and torso are almost equal.
Female bodies have longer legs, taking up 3/5 or 3/4 of the body.
The length of a foot is from elbow to wrist.
The bottoms of the eyes sit roughly halfway down the face.
Just a few starter tips. (I had the whole thing drilled into me years ago T-T)

You can just copy a complete character with a pose you like [NO TRACING], get it naked from all of it's traits, and add your own. You can easily gain experience from such stuff.

For now don't try to invent poses based on that. Like, if he's like Luffy, then find a Luffy pose. If he's like Zoro, find a Zoro pose etc.
btw, after you finish everything and come up with what resulted in the volume cover, you might wanna put on that another page and trace, to get rid of the deep marks. It also helps creating more smooth and fitting shapes in. I'd say ink instead of trace, but you don't seem to use inking at all.

Aside from like what is the cloud guy leaning on, you should work on their eyes and shoes [shape, but also placement]. And, most importantly, FREEHAND STYLE. Because it seems like you're holding the pencil as hard as you can.

Notice how the lines are quick and light? Like a rushed sketch. Only this is a copy, so there aren't any sketch signs.
Try moving around the heads a bit. All your drawings have the face looking straight at us, try a profile, back of the head, whatever.

I know what you mean! I have two spiral notebooks full of comic ideas that have gone nowhere. XD But if your ideas seem to go nowhere for you, eventually you'll get to the point where you come across something big. Then you'll have a lot of material to pull from and reincorporate as something new.
Anyways, keep up the good work. Personally, I'd like to see you put up some still-lifes, figure sketches, etc. Draw things from life, as well as from your imagination. They are fundamentals, and by working on those, you can improve very quickly. Also, try to make sure you don't draw at too much of an angle. This can easily warp your drawings.
