Toonami will eb airing soon Pokemon Ranger and the Sea temple..
Pokmon ranger..in tie to the new game
honestly I believe there are too many pokemon series (johto, advance) and already 6-7 movies!its getting hard to keep track of what series pokemon is on
Has pokemon gone too far?
-
-
Yeah 6-7 movies are way too much considering one piece has 8 rolleyes
I don't know about the series itself, but they should have switched main characters after the Jhoto one (the one with may and co). I think Satoshi's/ash's adventure should have just ended there and have a new main character to death.
The games on the other hand, I don't think so either because they are pretty fun and Final Fantasy has like 1000 games so pokemon should be able too.
-
I think they should end Pokemon anime i only like the games and the manga
-
Definitely.
It was fine when it reached 200 different Pokemon, and I stopped watching when it got to 300. Gad.
It probably helps that I grew out of it, though.
The games were pretty fun and got better as more came out, but again, gets to be too much after a while. -
Pokemon's existence is too much for me to handle. It's a big piece of garbage.
Ignoring my bias agains tit's existence in general my opinion is that all the series are too long and if they were going to continue it one more would have been fine.
having 100 series lasting for like a loooooooong time and all with the same character? What's he want to do become the greatest guy in their world right? well let him just do it.
Because of this series(and it's merchandise and games and ay other form of it) I HATE anything that's a sort of card game fighting series. Or maybe it's just because THEY ALL SUCK, I have never watched an episode of Pokemon or Yu Gi oh and I'd probably die if I did because they are so stupid.
-
I plan to buy the next Pokemon game, especially because you can apparently battle online and I think that's cool.
I've been playing Pokemon netbattle on occasion, and these people remind me of why there is so much Pokemon anime and merchandise. Hardcore Pokemon fans are insane. It was once said that Pokemon is as complicated as you make it, and that couldn't be more true. In the game, there are an insane amount of measures that you can take to assure that you will have the "best" Pokemon. You don't just level up and pick moves - people actually "breed" Pokemon with hand-picked stats. If a leveling up changes one of these stats to what they believe is unfavorable, they get rid of it and start over.
So basically, Pokemon fans are crazy. This is why there is so much Pokemon stuff.
-
Good lord. I was wondering why the popularity lasted for so long.
-
The anime was and always will be awful. And this is coming from someone who's been a fan from the beginning. The games are what's good.
-
Has anyone notice that the new Pokemon are starting to look like Digimon?
-
now the count is at 400???
and it looks like something more yugi-ohish
yeah there was also the lame looking pokemon party in NY
-
I think pokemon went too far after Ash lost at the first Pokemon League. It's one thing for the main character to start out as a complete loser, but he should improve somewhere along the way. :/
-
there isn't such a thing as too far when people still want to watch it.
-
pokemon needs to die…*grabs a shotgun, grenade, air to air missles, nuclear warheads... etc. the starts throwning greands and firing machine guns/shotgun/nuclear bomb.... pokemon needs to die people.....
-
I like pokemon still always have, I missed almost all of johto so I started watching Advance Genration and I must say I was unsatifies, The scenerios constantly repeated themselves it got annoying, The new Battle Frontier dub is no good either, The opening is badly done so is the VA work.
I enjoy the movies in the Advance Generation series because they have better story lines and animation than the rest of that series, I wonder if the japanese version is any better than the dubs?
-
I'm still a fan of the games, but I don't really watch the show anymore… I don't think it really done anything outrageously bad though, it's just gotten really repetitive.
Also there's been Pokemon that look a lot like Digimon since the first generation.
-
Pokemon has gone on waaaaay to damn long anyway, although I do like a couple of the movies, other than that I'm just sick of it:getlost:
-
I was sick of pokemon in general until I picked up the manga. Now I'm completely hooked again. VIZ stopped making them at the end of the Yellow arc, so I imported the english ones from Singapore. To anyone who has read it: Good stuff, you know what I'm talking about.
For those who haven't: You are seriously missing out. There is no Ash, it follows the game's storylines almost flawlessly, and probably my favorite detail: the battles. They actually go into some serious Flippin' strategies which sync perfectly to the games. And the violence. Once you see an Arbok being sliced in half, and then see the front half go through death spasms in it's own toxic juices, you never go back.
Here is a teaser from one of my favorite match-ups in the Kanto vs. Johto Gym Leaders (and was also hinted at in the end of Stadium 2) : Morty vs. Lt. Surge.:
(LET ME KNOW IF THE IMAGES ARE TOO BIG)

paragraph of stuff

I happen to be a netbattler, and enjoy competitive battling. Is it a bad thing to actually look past the surface in a game to make it harder? I sure don't think so, it's fun to pit your Pokemon against anothers.
However the anime has been going on too far, or at least the characters have. Ash/Satoshi has been going to different regions for about 10 years now, I believe it's time for him to get out of the way. There's also Brock/Takashi, whom I like to call "…yawn" He's a symbol that the anime writers have run out of ideas, at least they let Misty/Kasumi and May/Haruka leave, why drag his characterless corpse through another season?
That said, I'm definately getting D/P, because it's fun to play. Liking a game and playing it gasp What a concept!

Actually in the Japanese version he doesn't want to catch them all nor claim he wants to be the greatest pocket monster master all the time… He just wants to make friends human and pokemon alike and have adventures along with them.
but I personally like Pokemon still if only because this site has kept me into it.
-
I personally don't care for the show anymore, I've lost all faith in it
though the games are bad ass IMO, and the manga is cool too
-
I haven't watched a full episode of the anime in a long time. The last time I read the manga was the Mystery Dungeon spinoff, although I used to have a few of the flipped comic books loosely following the anime, and I bought one of the individual volumes following the games for my little brother as a birthday present one year. I might watch the Pokemon Ranger movie next week, just to see how it is and because I thought the animation looked good (isn't the TV show being animated in Flash now?).
Actually, Diamond and Pearl are getting me back into the franchise. I kind of skipped the third generation since I didn't get a GBA until recently, and the battery wore out on my old Silver cartridge a year ago, so I hadn't been playing it. But now I have an SP, I found a guide to replacing your cartridge's battery, and Diamond and Pearl are looking fantastic, so I'm really excited for it. It almost makes me feel like I'm in first or second grade again…
Oh, and Turtwig's evolution chain reminds me more of Bulbasaur than Digimon.
-
Th only good parts in the anime are parts involving Snorlax. The games however, are extremely fun, I can't wait for Diamond and PEarl.
-
i haven't had cable since I moved out about 6 years ago. What did happen to brock in the anime?
-

He's still hanging with Ash ><
Indeed, the game series is way better than the anime. The only good thing was Jesse and James, and yet they were spoiled while the anime kept on.
-
didn't someone say in here, that all of ash's buddies have moved on, but ash is still around?
-
Anime's whack, but oh, have those games ever maintained their awesome factor. I can't wait to get Pearl!
-
Pokemon anime started to suck around the time when they went to the Orange Islands, it was all basically the same stuff now. Althogh the games are still one of the best things since sliced bread.
-
In my opinion I don't mind the lenght of Pokemon. I mean I watch One Piece that just reached its 300 something episode and has 7-8 movies so I shouldn't be complaining.
I do think that they should have changed the main characters when they started adding new ones. I really get tired of Ash and Pikachu along with Team Rocket after a while and keeping characters for as long as this is bound to create contradictions in their characteristics.Although they did change the people in Pokemon Crystal so maybe they thought of that but the popularity went down.
All in all, I don't think it went "too far". Just that they should have done like Digimon and just change main characters after a while. They created so many one shot characters they have a lot to choose from.
-
Maybe If ash wasn't such a reject he'd actually be able to move on… I mean come on! Every time he got a good Pokémon he'd either set it free or give it away.
Also I remember this one episode that explained how IMPORTANT his Red and white hat was to him…..but then I see pictures from the newer series with him in a new hat...oh I guess it wasn't that important eh?
-
Well One Piece hasn't exactly been a US fad yet….
Pokemon has been a fad for 10 years and like Power rangers...like I said.. it has lost its glamour
I used toiread the pikachu boogaloo comics by Viz -
pokemon anime=suck
pokemon games=pure pwnage
-
For a second I thought this thread was going to have those pictures of the seizure causing duck, blackface pokemon, and team rocket in drag. Oh well.
If people are buying/watching, then why would anyone involved to stop?
-
seizure causing duck? porygon wasnt guilty for that
-
blackfaced pokemon? i didn't hear that one. and team rocket always dresses in drag, what's new.
-
People thought that Jynx was making fun of black people.
How did the plot of the second movie go in Japan? Ever since I found out Ash's Japanese name was Satoshi I've been wondering that. The plot of the movie revolved around a pun involving Ash's name, so how did that work originally?
-
Ash fails. Evolve Pikachu already. Why did he catch an Aipom? Why doesn't he keep Charizard all the time? Why does he catch [insert generic starter pokemon] and then put them at the lab?
The games are incredibly awesome though. Can't wait for D/P, online play is awesome.
-
I think people need to give a little more credit to the Pokemon anime for having such longevity. It's very rare that a series is able to hold an audience for 10 years - they must be doing something right. It's really quite an impressive feat if you think about it.
That said, of course I'd like the anime to end, or at least the adventures of Ash to end. I think it was decent for the Indigo League and Orange Islands, went way downhill at Johto (though made it up somewhat toward the very end), was down at a lesser extent in Hoenn, then actually got very entertaining and well-paced during the Battle Frontier arc before slipping back into mediocrity with the current Sinnoh arc. I think they should call it quits with Sinnoh, definitely - 12 years is enough.
The games, however, are still stellar and I'll be picking up Diamond and Pearl for sure. The online battling and chat look awesome. I have no qualms with there being 400 Pokemon. I mean, they have to introduce new Pokemon or otherwise the series will stagnate, and there are other series with more creatures than that to keep track of (ie Digimon).
-

What tier/server are you? I don't think I've seen you on there before. I generally go under the name [PA]NE Freezer in Smogon U and have a UU "Cutie Wagon" themed team.
The behavior of the people on netbattle as well as that of some friends who play the actual game tells me that some people just go way too overboard. It's like the video game equivalent of those guys who go to football games shirtless and painted in their team's colors who scream and jump around the whole time.
-
I missed it when there were only 150.
Now there's like 1500.But the game's kicked ass.
I still play my Pokemon Crystal sometimes. ^^; -
@Roz:

Well, I haven't played in a while due to issues with my computer, but I was mostly a Smogon battler. My team didn't really have a "theme", I just used the pokemon I saw most fit.

I believe I know someone who might fit that mould, but it really isn't that big of a deal to me.
I tried that shirtless painting thing, but they threw us out of the ping-pong tournament.

I actually saw a fansubbed version of the Porygon seizure episode on Youtube. They toned down the strobe light effect, and when you're watching it on a computer, the bright lights have no effect, or at least that's what I heard. But I did feel a bit dizzy after watching it.
-
The Pokemon Anime has been way too repetitive for a while…
Not to mention some things I've seen in a "Tell that to the Writing Staff" fashion.
1. Nothing is immune to anything, PERIOD!
Shadow Ball WILL hit a Meowth.
Thunder WILL hit a Rhydon.
e.t.c. e.t.c.Anyway...
The Games are still awesome... I plan on getting Pokemon Diamond...
-
Pokemon should have stopped after Johto, the same with the GB games too. Now all the new Pokemon are horrible unispired throw aways.
-
Oh yeah, because Kanto and Johto had such inspiring designs! Like Grimer into Muk, how did they think of that?!
-
Oh yeah, because Kanto and Johto had such inspiring designs! Like Grimer into Muk, how did they think of that?!
If you compare the 1st and 2nd generation designs with the 3rd and 4th you'll tell there is a serious change in style, and I prefer the 1st and 2nd designs.
-
I stopped watching after Misty left, i only continued after first season for Ash/misty moments but once she left i said screw it
The Games are great and the Mangas are cool but i have yet to finish the Gold and Silver story but its still good

[qimg]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d/d4/Ebonwumon.jpg[/qimg]….. First off besides the fact that it's based off an actual god... Suzaku, biyako,
genbu...
It's a turtle with a tree on it's back.... Besides that, no. I honestly think the digimon one looks more dragon like. -

Though I do like Digimon designs for the most part and they haven't degraded with each passing season, unlike Pokemon.

And people seem to still like it.
I can understand the gaming, but not the anime. -
And people seem to still like it.
I can understand the gaming, but not the anime.I guess the anime is just to help promote it more and more.
But I played Red and Blue, and Gold and Silver, loved those, especially gold and silver. I tried Sapphire and couldn't get into it, I just thought "It's a little bit different, but I've played this game fully over three times…I don't want to do it again."
