Nami cosplay

hello all,

I was planning on doing a nami cosplay at my local (and only) anime convention this year.

The only catch is I'm not sure which version to cosplay, I would like to make a climatact to carry around however I am concerned that if I wear the outfit from the eines lobby arc no-one will recognise my character. So I would like to cosplay her initial (and somewhat trademark) outfit, however I'm still not sure if I should bother to make a climatact to carry around.

(note the climatact design I have is for the most recent version with the balls on the ends)

any advice anyone?

I recommend her "classic" style or Skypeia. If you are a girl you could do the blue camo but I'd probably go with the yellow shirt and pinkish red shorts if you pick Skypeia.

thanks I was thinking the classic style would be the way to go
(oh and yes I am a girl lol)
but still I have a burning desire to carry around a climatact would this just be pointless with classic nami?

Not at all, most videogames feature Nami with her classic outfit AND the clima tact. Since this is your first cosplay (it is, right?) I would choose the one you consider the easiest to make.

You shouldn't worry if people don't recognize you, just do what you want not worrying what others thing.

If you're carrying around what's obviously going to look like a Perfect ClimaTact I'm pretty sure that people will recognise you. Especially if you're going to have Nami's trademark mikan orange hair colour and style. Also, Buuhan1 gives great advice; who cares if you're recognised or not, as long as you're having fun doing it, that's all that matters.

Out of curiosity, what convention were you planning on going to?

About being recognised, as long as you get a good orange hair and you manage to successfully mime her hairstyle you won't have problems being recognised so if you're worried about that, focus on the hair

its actually my third ^^; my first one piece cosplay however, and thank-you for the advice.

I am going to supanova brisbane (I live in australia its the ONLY convetion we get)

thats a good point I already have the right length and simillar style all I really need to worry about is the colour lol

I was with finfish at Katsucon when she cosplayed Nami and Coby, and only a handful of people (like maybe around 5) recognized either character. So if no one recognizes you, don't feel bad.
