There is a new GeGeGe no Kitaro series coming to Japan April 1st. If you don't know what GeGeGe no Kitaro is and you call yourself an otaku, I weep for you. So if you don't know what it is, just go to Wikipedia.org and search for it. Basically, you should know about this series since it helped formed anime or manga series featuring Yokai.

Sorry for double posting, but if I was rude to you guys, I'm sorry. But, this series is the reason why people in Japan still think about yokai. Which resulted in some of your favorite series or movies.

Ah, I know about this one. I heard that Gegege no Kitaro was the first horror manga published on Japan, and inspired series like Gakkou no Kaidan, Shaman King and Inuyasha. I want to read the manga so bad… about the anime, I think I'm interested to see it too.

Well, yeah but that's probably because the manga is really old, plus the artist style is probably like because, well I won't spoil it for you. Just go to wikipedia and type in Shigeru Mizuki or Mizuki Shigeru, I can't tell.

Oh what the heck?! They're gonna do Kitaro again?! That was my favorite show when I was little. I watched them in Japanese AND Mandarin :)) I probably can still sing its OP/ED, too. I even had a game for that. Kitaro is my childhood hero :wub:

The art is becoming a little bit of cuter side comparing to previous ones. I didn't get to read the original manga until couple of years ago, but the art/story started off really creepy. But then, you just grow some love into it eventually.

No prob. BTW you should go to YOUTUBE. They have a couple episodes of the third and fourth series, and a live-action movie is coming out to Japan on April 28th.

Yeah, isn't a death god a concept of Japan's religion(?)/mythology, kinda like the reaper?

Other than that, Kitaro's not bad.You notice it looked different from today's Manga style(s).
I like the eyeball father. Strange creatures were a part of Manga since it was invented, huh?

Yeah, Kitaro is all about yokai. That's mostly the reason why people in Japan remember about yokai. Just look for shinigami in the yokai section of Wikipedia.

Not directly related, but the author of Gegege no Kitaro - Mizuki Shigeru - did draw a 28 page one shot manga called "Fushigi na Techou" (literally translated to Mysterious Notebook) on 1973. The main idea is almost identical - the main character got a hold of this mysterious notebook, and he eventually found out whoever's name he writes on it will die. I don't remember in detail, but I think he started off with neighbor's dog, and then killed his landlord, his manager, and his wife, and in the end he felt too guilty and commit a suicide. You can read this in "Mizuki Shigeru - Youkai Kessakusen 2," though I think it's really hard to find this book.

I only read synopsis on one of the Japanese blogs out there, but when the MangaNews translator was about to translate that article, that site got suspended for violating copyright or something S: Shame.

Is there anyone other way to watch the new series without YouTube? Why did YouTube take off the episode and prevent future episodes?

When you don't get any answer, most likely, there's no update.

YouTube is taking down any episode that is ilegally uploaded. Uploading Gegege no Kitaro to YouTube is violating copyright.

You can get raws at tokyotosho or #hxs @ irc.rizon.net.

WHAT copyright? The series hasn't even been liscensed. Also, I don't have Bittorent. It's too complicated to install.

Sigh. … Copyright is protected throughout the world, with exception of a few country such as Taiwan, by Berne Convention and/or International Copyright Law. Japanese media is one of the most concerned copyrighted material in YouTube. Please don't think you're the center of the whole world :X Go read up some news or something.

I don't like BitTorrent, either, but explaining the other application would be even more hassle, so I'll just link you to a Torrent application I use and explain.

I'm thinking Kitaro won't be fansubbed, what's sad when you see so many awful new shows getting released by 7-8 different groups. Maybe i'll check the raws.

Holy shit, I love this show! I'm glad it's been revived. Inuyasha and BLEACH have nothing on Kitaro. I saw the first episode of the new 2007 series on Youtube before they took it down and I'm not disappointed!

Unlike most shonen stories, GeGeGe no Kitaro is unique and always fun to watch.
