I mean look at it. All Luffy's Nakama were not pirates before he recruited them. Usopp maybe, but not really. It would be kinda funny if Oda through in a pirate who actually looked like a pirate, complete with hat, coat and etc.
That would be kinda sweet….and I realized that Brooke seems to fit this......I hope its a female pirate that joins!

Robin and Nami were both pirates long before they met Luffy, so every female that has joined the crew was a pirate before hand. Its only the guys so far that weren't pirates (excluding Brooke until/if he joins).

Nami was a thief who stole from pirates. Nico Robin was just running from organization to organization. Baroque Works was a underground crime syndicate and Nami stole from pirates to buy back her village. They weren't pirates to begin with until Luffy came along.

Nami was already a member of Arlong's crew, in other words she was a pirate. Robin had joined alongside pirates at certain points in her life.

I think Franky was more of a pirate then robin or nami were. Frankys the only one who ever did anything wrong.
A. Nami was stealling to get her village back from a tyraniccal person that the government ignored.
B. Robin had neveer done anything wrong, she got a false bounty put on her head. She tried to revel a mysterie to everyone that the government didn't want known about.
C. Franky beat up anyone who was a pirate to get his money so he could buy something. -

Brooke seems most likely but I'll wait until I see if he fights first. However, if Perona joins, I'll go with that too. Don't see how different from Nami she'd be but then again, we know next to nothing about her right now.
she seems totally different from Nami. o.O; she's not greedy; she loves cute things. Uhm, that's pretty much all we know about her, though I would speculate that she can walk on air for limited amounts of time, maybe. I don't know. It just seems like it'd be true.
Another note here: where is the 'scar on her back'? I didn't see it. >.o and in any case, most of the zombies are just patchwork all over. Like Hollywood-ized Frankensteins, some of them. So one scar wouldn't necessarily imply zombie. Look at Wall-Pig, Zombie Generals, and (yes I have to say it) Cindry. …I still can never see Cindry joining. If she does, you may all smack me upside the head with whatever you like.

There is no known scar on Perona. I just said it could be on her back and could tie in with her past. Either that or shes another zombie.

I also don't think perona can walk on air. Thats too much like ms. valentines day. However I do think its a shame that a fruit with so many possibilities was given to someone who was a background, minor character.

She is in her teens for sure… I've given up on speculating her powers and how they work. All I know is her goth outfit contridicts her preference for all things cute.

The idea of Perona joining doesn't seem too bad. However, we still don't know anything about her or if she's even Straw Hat material. She has weird ghost-based powers and loves cute things, but other than that we don't know about her past, dreams (if she has any), if she has any useful skills outside of her powers, etc.
For all we know, Perona could pull a Nico Robin and randomly join the crew. Who knows? She would be another female and Devil Fruit user, so that would be good.Brook seems like the best candidate so far. We still don't know much about him. From what we do know, he's a former Devil Fruit user, a musician, and has a unique fighting style. It will be good to know his past, his dreams and if he can win the Straw Hats over as his nakama.
He has so far bonded with Franky, Luffy and maybe Robin. So far so good!I just want someone to join, since it wouldn't hurt for the Straw Hats to pick up their 8th member! This arc and the future story arcs could have an East Blue feeling to them as far as recruiting nakama goes.

You know what something occurred to me… What if we actually get two new crew mates this arc? Wouldnt that be out of no where >.> I mean Oda is known to be unpredictable. So far the signs say no since it has yet to happen... but thats the unique thing about it
Personally after last chapter I am not going to refute Brook joining... he has too much character and is likeable in his own unique way. Yet I still cant shake this feeling someone like Cindry is going to become a central figure towards the end of this arc what with all the emphasis on her being an extremely famous entertainer with a weird and mysterious past. Its too early to tell but right now im going to bet that Oda is going to give us 2 new members after the end of this arc. We are like one arc away from the Redline and we are still missing 3 crew mates to Luffiy's supposed 10. I think he is trying to solidify the group (my opinion...) before they reach the new world which is supposedly on the other side of the Redline.

I think Oda by now has established the fact the average child on OP is weak beyond all hope. As I said elsewhere, most children in OP are there to get beaten up and even when you get a Mighty Midget like Robin, they are thrown into a situation beyond their control. For me a 8 year old is the worst idea yet and would ruin a certain element of OP.

yes ofc we got all these people with monster strenght in the SH crew and a little 8 yo girl who is left all by herself to fight her own one on one battle.
if they just dont ignore her because they think that she isnt a threat they will realize she is strong because she isnt beeing protected by the strawhats.
If she is protected by the strawhats thats just going to be annoying all the time. part of the charm with OP is that to some degree every SH can take care of themselves and can be left alone for a time while other matters are handled. Robin the only other "strong kid" we have seen was a total emotional wreck in her flashback.
Heatxz: still dont see why beeing beaten by chopper, who is like what? a meter tall most of the time in brain point, cant be as big a humiliation as a 8 yo kid

well chopper, when he fights, looks really strong. Whe he was first shown in the drum island arc I thought hhe would be really strong. I have a question though. Chopper had a less cute look in the beginning. When did he change to the way he looks now?

It ends with a 4, dammit!) came out a week ago, but as I said, I've been really inactive and busy, and just had time to read it a couple days ago. Honestly, two swordsmen would be really awkward, and would really cramp everyone's style. I think Brook will stay behind. Though if he joins, still awesome, but I dunno. I'm freaking tired right now and can't come up with much more to say. snore

Not only wouldn't it fit in with the Strawhat's style (let alone with their enjoyment of good grog) it would be possitively impossible for Oda to draw decent fights for that character. Have you seen the ammount of damage the Strahats sustain in each fight? Now imagine a child taking all that damage. Oda wouldn't have the heart to draw that, much less would we have the heart to read it.
