Thorfinn's parting of violence seems too soon or out of place, and especially the meaning of Warrior..
He should go back to his home, to sea his mother and sister though,
anyway It is not hard to picture that despite Thorfinn proclaiming that he will part with violence... he still have lot of fight left to do in this manga.

What I'm surprised at is that I didn't see Thorfinn becoming an explorer himself. I knew we'd get into that angle, but I didn't think about Thorfinn directly doing it. Silly me overlooking the obvious.
Meh, Blood-thirsty Thorfin is more fun. And kinda hate how all the anger-driven outcast protagonists always go the same path. I half-expect Thorfin to single-handedly beat a hundred men army from now on.
I seriously doubt he will never use violence again. It was the main theme of the manga from the beginning and although the explorer angle is interesting it will become redunant when there's no real action involved.

You do realize that Thorfinn is based on Thorfinn Karlsefni, a famous Icelandic explorer, right?
Yup.
That's what italicized surprise means. Not just "whoa!", more like "whoa I'm derp!" I know who he was based on, I just honestly never really… gave it much thought? It's not like much is there about the historical Thorfinn anyways, past "explorer". I got more distracted with the historical developments of the character Thorkell is based off of and Canute.

This potentially will be some amazing moments in the story, depending on how close the author will draw the inspiration.
I think he'll take the path of his father - disarming and disabling people without actually hurting them.
If he hurts them, at least he doesn't kill them.
The part I'm looking most forward to is when Canute does his whole, "Sea, you shall go no further!" speech to prove he's not omnipotent. There may not be a lot of info on Thorfinn, but there's plenty on his Princely friend.

I hope he appears in dreams from time to time. He is trully one of the most magnificient characters in recent manga memory.
Very good chapter. I suspect Thorfinn using violence again, and succuming into darkness at least one more time, but I for one want this to take the opposite route: Thorfinn trully lifst himself of this path and becomes the real image of his father.
That would be brave to do, and I'd applaud it!
And boring? This slave arc has had minimal action, and I'm loving it. So no, if done right, it doesn't have to be boring at all.

No the names aren't weird, the way the translators are spelling them are weird. Fx Canute is from Denmark, but the danish way to spell it is Knud. The same with Thorkell wich should have been spelled Thorkild.

! Seems there has been a 3 year time skip. hmm, seems like the old master might be dead, and the their current master is going on a trip, promising their freedom before he left. I don't like the looks of this. If they both die that would probably leave the violent son in charge (the one that wanted to have the kids hands cut off)

I don't recognize him either. Truth be told, at first I thought it was a flashforward of Thorfinn w/ the younger son or something.
I'm assuming the guy hasn't been seen before and is going after old master or his son(who just left). If not he may just be passing through (on his way to kill Canute?) and ends up fighting Thorfinn.
I too thought it was Thorfinn at first but it just didn't make sense as I read those few pages over and over before continuing.
Hm, maybe the escaped slave is going after the cruel brother. He looks awfully a lot like Thorfinn though. I had looked through some past chapters and I had forgotten that Throfinn was Thorkell's great nephew. Maybe there is some relation between them.

I just got up to date with this series a couple of days ago. It's the second Seinen I've properly read after Berserk. I would have to say Berserk was better but this was definitely a good series as well. My favorite character was probably Askeladd because while he may have made his "less than desirable" decisions (to put it mildly) he still had an interesting backstory and a dry wit that made him somehow likable. I also really liked Thorfinn's backstory and I think Thorfinn is one of the examples of how to do a "character on the path of revenge" well, because he later starts to learn how pointless revenge is.
He's actually kind of a "gateway/doorway" type character similar to Pip from Great Expectations (yes, a literary reference) in that there isn't an extremely large amount of focus on him. We're more supposed to see the world he's in from his viewpoint than anything else. That's just how I felt about it anyway. The art in this book was really good at times approaching Berserk levels of greatness and this made the fight scenes very fluid and intense (important since the series is about vikings who were kind of known for being fighters.) So on the whole this series was definitely good and I would say I'm glad I read it and I'd probably give this book a recommendation for other people. It might even be easier to get into than Berserk considering that it's quite a bit more tame than that series. So I give this series a thumbs up.

The pieces are assembling again. The question is: Will Canute murder old man Ketil or does he get caught this time around? I have a feeling Thorfin will have to meet Canute and come to terms with him before he sails off like Leif. Maybe he even goes to America because he has to flee from Denmark after killing the king or something. The next 20 or so chapters should be interesing. I mean the farm was nice and all but until this chapter disconnected from the rest of the story. Now we have the connection.

Damn, right after One Piece. It must be good.
Also what the hell is Noblesse?? Its not on MAL from what I can tell and I checked it out on mangareader and it looks kinda stupid. Keep in mind I didn't really give it a chance, it just looks weird.
