YES i agree. I kept wondering why Luffy didn't, I dunno MOVE OUT OF THE WAY!

ALso he managed to avoid the Storm Tail or whatever it is int he manga. But got hit by it in the anime:

It's such an amazing arc and for Toei to screw it up like this is just as bad as 4kids fucking up the rest of the anime -_-

Ah, the stamp, or what? Though it's true they switched things around, they did have a stamp in 302. Probably not the same one, but whatever.

Btw. Someone suggested a single video file that had the whole Luffy vs Lucci battle. Well, I've been doing one and all I can say is Awesome, being able to watch the fight in its entirety. Currently around 23 minutes of pure fighting (I took out one gatling gun to make it fit better) and it's sitting at around 367 mb at 704x396, which covers the time after Lucci hangs up the den den mushi till Gear 3rd, for now.

If it doesn't get too big in the end, maybe I'll upload it?? I feel I want to share it.

Seriously now, i never thought Enies Lobby was that great of an arc to begin, the anime even made the fights more enjoyable IMO (especially Nami's and Zoro's). I'd love to watch it when it's done Cinder.

I assumed in the manga when he blew into his arm, we just didn't see how much air actually went in there or he did it more than once. So... I dunno, but like look at him in the next episode when the air is in his chest... he's quite a big bigger than he was when it first went though his chest in this episode.

I dunno, but I'm pretty sure it was exaggerated. Mostly, normal balloons don't stretch out like that, and even though it's not a balloon, in the eariler frames it was very round while expanded. It's not like I expect things out of the Anime anymore, I only searched Gear 3 on Youtube to see if Toei managed to fuck up again.

Anyway, despite the terrible first 3/4, the last quarter was fantastic in my opinion. Some of the frames were just so brilliant and thought out.

And as for Luffy getting beating worse, I kinda liked it. I didn't feel it belittled him at all, since the barrage of Bashis' was extremely cheap on Lucci's behalf. And in the end, he still kicked his ass pretty hard, and that's a hard thing to do when your opponent moves at fucking warp speed.

I think I often enough explained why I´m reserved on something that can be undone in the future. I don´t deny what the creator said, I just don´t weight it the same way as stuff that clearly is in the story. Denying and being reserved isn´t the same thing, at least not by my book.

No, I´m not saying that it is it might not have happened "off screen" I say that it is not a element that is visible within the story. If it´s not there, it´s not there. And if the author aproves of it I won´t deny it, but I won´t take it as 100% undeniable canon until we get to the point where it can´t be negated anymore.

Erm, I'm sorry if I came across as mean at any point but I was just trying to understand you train of thought ^_^; While I don't agree that comments from the author cannot be canon unless proven incorrect (I believe they can be until proven incorrect) at least I understand your train of thought.

Well yeah, I have to give you that on that my train of thought is very…I don´t know how to say...the usual way to go. I mean I´m pretty aware of your point and everyone else and I even know that I stick out of it and being somewhat strange, but when something inside me just makes me feel different then I stay behind my view even though I know it is a bit unusual.

But perhaps that whole argument went wrong because I had my superiority complex again and made the comment about not accepting it as canon as something that should count for everyone while it probably only applies to me. :getlost:

haha nice post Cinder… but I was never doubting what the ANIME did with Gear Third. IMO it was the only thing in the episode done right. It was a question about Gear Third all together. I was just wondering how Luffy manages to get that big that fast because it seems like he somehow added more air over the course of time or something. I wondered it in the manga too but I never really said anything because I thought maybe the anime would clear it up. Maybe i just expect too much.

that is really cool though. I wonder if they sometimes use the manga for storyboards. it would apppear so.

Hmmm yeah. From a quick skim of the earlier post, I thought in my mind that you were seeing more air in him after hitting Lucci, so I noted that the last image was from a different team. The whole comparison thing with gear 3rd was just a bonus, I guess. I had the images handy since I was doing attacks, so I thought "why not".

This was for special 4, but it's somewhat related to your post.

I don't see Luffy doing any Better, all I see is him Trying to do better at one point, then Lucchi Soru-ing behind him and starting to totally own him. Everything that happened other than that odd exchange of fists in the beginning Happened in the Manga. Luffy WAS doing well against him (at least he was able to grapple him) but Tekkai always stopped his fist in Normal Mode. and So what? They added a few more Bachis and that Fire one was odd. But it Actually shows Luffy doing BETTER against Lucchi in the Manga, he's even able to Stop a Rankyaku there.

What? In the manga the only thing he does is stop a rankyaku and failing to rifle Lucci, and the excact same thing happened in the episode, along with the odd exhange of fists and Luffy throwing Leopard Lucci around! (and a whole other thing is that it'll make the Sai Dai RIng Rokuogan look like a rehash of this…)
And in addition, while the Bacchi and Hyobi worked like pointed bullets and a flying round saw blade in the manga, they looked like hard hitting gobs of snot and a flying saucer in the anime. I mean, so far Luffy haven't spilled a drop of blood in what was one of the most intense and brutal showdons in the manga.

The epsidode looks nice. Really great that they made Vice Admiral Doberman as he should be, meaning giving him the white eye and the mouth of a bad mothersmurfer. I guess it was just a screw up by the B Team then. It was in the episode where the ships looked nothing like the ones in the last ep so that might be the reason. Anyways, can´t wait for the raw.

Toei screwed up again… Doberman has both eyes intact. :wassat: I guess that means they probably asked Oda if making that change in the anime for the young audience would interfere with the manga (if Oda wanted to tell this VA's story of how he lost the eye). I guess Oda won't talk about Doberman's eye in the manga and might even not show him again at all.

I liked how Gear 3rd was shown, but the flashback was annoying. Episode seemed really short because of it.

Nice episode. The flashback didn't take up the entire episode, but was merely expanded upon, though the body count was obscenely huge. The fight animation on the ship was real nice, with a lit of the Gear 3 moves looking real smooth. Lucci's transformation looked a bit funny, but that was more about him changing color.

The next episode looks good as well, with a nice tease of the "mermaid" as well as Funkfreid

Edit:And yes, they gave Doberman his left eye back, as it looks no different than his right.

Darn, I´ve just seen it myself. What the hell is wrong with Toei to screw up Doberman´s eye again and again? I mean seriously it´s not something that we never have seen in the anime before. Just when Franky blocked the bullets that were meant for Robin he also had white eyes. True it was an effect but still the white eye is there. If it is so "evil" that Toei is scared to use it then don´t use it completely. I don´t see any sense in their dicission. Wish I could edit episodes to erase that crap.
