Okay, most Tokusatsu fans here have probably heard of the infamous Kamen Rider series so I guess this would be a nice place to have the official Kamen Rider Series discussion.

I took the liberty of watching the 1st two eps of Den-O today and I got to say, I loved it a lot, truly awesome, and of course, this Kamen Rider series seems way more lighter and less dark than how KR Kabuto was last year.

Oh and you do remember that Saban did an adaptation for the 1st series as "Masked Rider" right?

Guess what, there's another one, directed by the one known as Steve Wang is doing an american adaptation of Kamen Rider Kyuki, looked at the previews and pics and GODDAMN it looks fucking awesome.

Seriously, it should be people like Steve Wang doing adaptations for Super Sentai and from the looks of it, thi upcoming TV show aint showing on some kids channel, so which means, I'm pretty sure most of the suggestive content will stay in.

Love the actors so far, the TV series is coming 2008 and a movie is coming 2009~! It would be awesome if Steve decided on doing US Kamen Rider adaptations so on after he does Dragon Knight.

Well, at least they're putting a better effort and making it non-childish like how Disney is doing Power Rangers.

Saban did the 1st Kamen Rider years back and that's it But seems this studio is planning on doing the Kamen Rider series.

Power Rangers was adopted from Japan's popular Super Sentai series in which Gekiranger is airing in Japan right now and Boukenger's (2006's Sentai) US Adaption-Operation overdrive is airing in a week.

Ya think Americans could come up with this badass shit ? Of course they adopted it and used Super Sentai footage and has different plot lines and casts.

So far, to me, looks that Den-O will be more lighter. I found Kabuto a bit too dark for my taste.

Local, VR Troopers was an american adaptation of the japanese series "Metal Heroes", while the Power Rangers are adapted from the Super Sentai series, like Daisuke said. And Masked Rider was the American adaptaion of the 1980's Kamen Rider BlackRX series. Personally, of all the Sentai/Tokusatsu shows, I like Kamen Rider the best. I love how some series are dark & adult-oriented (FAIZ & Kabuto), while others are more character driven & humorous (Hibiki & Den-Ou), while others are more geared towards children (Blade).

On a side note, good god I love Liner form in Den-O. Finally, Nogami stops hidding behind his Imajin, and shows his true power.

Is the "Rider Kick" move in Kamen Rider Den-o back to it's usual flying kick,cause I heard from my friend that the Rider Kick from Kamen Rider Kabuto is just a normal kick without shouting "RAIDAAAAAA KIIIIIIIIIICK!!".
Man,I missed the "RAIDAAAAAAAAA HENSHIN!"scream from the old days when they about to transform,but they never do it again since Kamen Rider Kuuga,I think.

Through most of the series, he depends on switching personalities with his Imajin but when Liner form comes somewhere in eps 2-30, dont remember, he finally shows his true courage and starts kicking ass.

Den-o has its moments here and there, but overall it's a boring series, IMO. After watching 34 episodes, i still feel like it's going nowhere.
Honestly, i miss 555.. it was the last new Rider i actually enjoyed.

I haven't got a chance to really watch Den-O, but from the first couple episodes it seemed nice enough.

It takes a lot to make a character that's a bigger loser than Kagami. I respect that.

Though Nogami doesn't stay a looser, Liner Form kind of killed that status of him off in some parts but yeah, he was a big loser in the begging of the series.

Well, every finisher in Kabuto gets announced by both the Rider and the Zecter belt just before performing the move. Kabuto has both a counter roundhouse kick (which he uses most of the time) and a flying kick version. In Den-O, only the Rod and Climax forms use a flying kick without yelling the name.

OK,I've watched the 1st episode of Kiva,and I love it.
The design of Kiva that resembles bat is awesome(you can go to hell,Batman),and I like the henshin belt,Kivat.It can talk,fly,and has it own mind.
Kiva's Rider Kick is kinda cool,but my favorite Rider Kick is still Faiz's Kick.

Watched the first couple eps, Kiva is ok so far. His armor design is pretty neat, but the sentai-ish talking bat wasn't really necessary. Im digging the premise anyway, it's definitely more promising than Den-o.

This thread is making me miss those days where I would marathon Kamen Rider almost every day. Loved Kabuto because of the rider designs, plus Tendo is sexeh~ And it always made me hungry! Why must they make such delicious looking food every episode?!

Den-O is definitely my favorite so far, I don't see how people think its boring. The Imajins make it worth while and it is definitely one of the most memorable to me. And the belt was pretty slick too. Still have mine, haha...

Kiva was awesome too, I remember being really into it and getting a major crush on Jirou, the sexy wolf man obsessed with the scent of coffee. That one had some really weird episodes, but overall it was fun to watch.

Decade was awesome in the beginning, but then it got confusing, then awesome again when Black and Black RX showed up (squee'd like a school girl). Then then ending pissed me off.....

Haven't seen a whole lot of W or OOO's, but I know I want to finish them eventually. Still working on finishing Hibiki, I love that one so far, (Zanki-san~ <3) but I have a feeling it will end badly... Also, I really want to see more of the first gen riders, like the rest of Black and Stronger.

Watched the finale of OOO two days ago…

...to call it a disappointment would be an understatement.

! Ankh was wasted, Eiji was wasted, Uva was punked even worse than the other Greeds were, and Kougami… ugh.
! There was a lot of potential, and the show got damned interesting when they finally started revealing shit (at episode 30, mind you). but... they let all the momentum they built wear out really quickly and the show was just mediocre overall.
! I mean, there were exactly TWO developed characters in the entire damned show, and neither of them was the main character.

Next week brings us Fourze, the worst-designed Rider ever. I hope the writing makes up for it.

So I thought Fourze's first episode was torn between kind of being terrible and kind of being a lot of fun.

The high school setting had high potential minutes in and promptly became idiotic when they revealed the school operated under clique divisions, which was so direct and so dumb, that I was actually taken aback that they were seriously saying YEAH THAT TABLE IS WHERE THE GEEKS SIT AT AND OVER THERE IS THE PARTY KIDS AND THAT'S THE FOOTBALL QUARTERBACK HE RUNS THE SCHOOL!!

But then the main character is just flat out awesome and the suit seems really fun. I liked its abilities, although I do take back my comment about the suit looking fine, since in action it looked even more outlandish, once he started equipping bright, Fisher-Price color coded weapons on each limb (i.e. the right leg is bright blue).

Gonna be wacky seeing if this is gonna be a colossal failure, or a really entertaining series.

Okay, I am three episodes into this show, an I can safely say that it is crap.

I mean, I went into OOO wanting to hate it because of its crappy designs, but I couldn't because the story was genuinely interesting and Ankh was awesome from the get-go. Mind you, both of these were wasted in the end, but at least I had a definite reason to keep watching. And Den-O, another show that I didn't care for, at least had Mono and Deneb being awesome for the entire run (the other Taros less so but they're still pretty awesome too), and some of the best music to come out of a Rider show since forever.

But this… it's just not good. Leaving the design aside, the action scenes are CG-riddled meh-fests, and even his finisher is lame. And to top it off, this is the first time that a main Rider's belt has been crap.

As for the characters... bleh. Gantarou's character-type is nice enough... or at least the idea is. He's the first real NEKKETSU HERO-type main Rider in a Heisei series, but his actor can not fucking sell it at all. He's somewhat passable in passive scenes, but when he's trying to pour on the I WILL BEFRIEND YOU charm, he just comes off as extremely flat. This has NEVER been a problem before. I mean, I can't fucking stand Ryoutarou at all as a character, but I could at least admit that his actor did a damned good job portraying him, along with the various Imagin posessions. But here… no.

And the female lead is just not good at all.

So far, the only good things I can say about the show are that the head jock guy is consistantly amusing (especially in the second episode, that shit was funny as hell), and that the head bitch cheerleader is really cute.

But they're not main characters, so yeah. It doesn't matter very much.

I'll be giving this show until episode five to give me a reason to keep watching it before I dismiss it as the worst Rider show ever, but at this point... it seriously is the worst Rider show ever.

I disagree, Gentarou is cool and doesn't afraid of anything. But seriously, I'm really liking it probably (if not) more then OOO. The CG thing really doesn't bother me and the finishers are over the top awesome

I finished watching my first Kamen Rider OOO after being recommended by enel16 (Thanks enel XD). Ireally enjoyed the show, very well made.
Now I am at ep 40 of Kabuto, very different from OOO and I like it too, Tendou and Kagami are awesome!
also I am watchin Fourze up to date. I like it too! it is very light compared to Kabuto but I like the cast even the weird hair cut of Gentarou!
I guess after kabuto I will start watching W.
