Your internet ego or what you see is what you get?

I don't know. I think I'm pretty much the same offline and online. But then again I don't think that's true for anyone, no matter what they may think of themselves. So I guess I'm not totally honest to myself about this.

People usually say I'm really calm (I read that as "slow") and down to earth and yet a bit peevish and hard to approach in real life. And apparently I'm weird but I won't sign that at all. I think I'm really normal, boring guy and my posts reflects that quite well.

The biggest difference is that offline I won't use full sentences and instead I prefer to use grunts and stuff . Online gives a chance to think over what I'm about say, to consider, and to parse my thoughts better. So I often come off more idealistic than what I'm in real life.

And naturally, if you meet me offline, I won't speak English. Or if I do, I do it through thick accent. So that alone makes a huge difference.

Well, I'm probably more of an asshole and more outspoken than I was before, after some forums stints.

But otherwise I act the same way on the internet as i do in real life, there you have it.

My Arlong Park sort of prescense is my real life persona drenched in acid until only the sense of humour is left. Like a SENSE OF HUMOR SKELETON.

My Narutofan persona is my real life persona making angst farts. Just sort of releaseing bad energy without really straining but leaving a bad smell behind.

My first Gaia persona was the same as the Narutofan one. My second Gaia persona is basically an evil flamer version of my AP persona.

I don't think I've posted quite enough in order to give a specific image of myself to the people here, but if that'd be the case and you'd meet me IRL, I wouldn't be the same. I don't try to be a different person conciously, but of course I use varying ways of approach around here where I don't really know anyone.

The same thing Yoska mentioned applies to me as well: when I'm offline I don't even speak English, so that alone creates a gap between the real me and LaCaSiNa.

All in all, I'm not as familiar as I am here and I react to things differently than in real life. I'm a lot more daring here, too.

I'm far more docile on this message board than I am in real life. I don't know why I just don't feel the need to pick fights here; whereas in real life I tend to do that constantly whether I meant to or not.

Uhm, I guess I am kinda half and half. In real life, I am VERY loud, but I'm funny if you're one of my real close friends. I actually tend to not be so open about who I'm friends with in real life, and can be a real ass sometimes, but on the net, I dunno, people I talk to on MSN have told me I sound cute(DDD: ), intelligent(SOMETIMES I'm like that in real life. Very rare), and somewhat quiet.

I'm kinda turning into my internet self, though. It's a mix between the two.

Eh, my IRL and e-persona kinda reversed over the years, like when I was fourteen-fifteen years old I used to be a post whore and write walls of text but I was really quiet IRL, but for couple of years now I've been a lot more outspoken and active in my real life, while now I only post when I really feel like I should say something and i've scrapped lots of posts mid-paragraph recently. I guess you could call that laziness.

It's not a big secret that I post here (hey mom and dad!), it's not like I would be ashamed about stuff I post here or anything, so at least I could ask somebody who knows me both way to to shed his opinion about how big difference there is, if there is at all.

I am different only because my ADD puts up road blocks between my brain's thinking part and my brains lets put those thoughts into writing.

I act pretty close online now to how I act in real life. How I spell stuff online is usually how I pronounce them in real life as well, like my habit of adding a hypen to words that don't need them or using fake pseudo slang (which I use compulsively in regular speech).

When I was "Troll Terek" I was far nicer, more pious, and a lot smarter than I was online, but since then the online persona and off line person have virtually become the same being.

I only change when I get put on a hot-seat, which makes me go all serious. I actually like being serious all the time, but it's awkward as heck because I'm afraid to use my normal deeper voice when serious for fear of un-nerving people, so my alto-ish voice comes off as honky, at least to me during interviews and the like.

Maybe I'm too self-conscious at times…

I'm very different online. In real life I keep to myself, I'm really modest, too kind, and just generally don't wanna be an inconvenience for others. The first 2 years or so while being on the net, I was pretty much the same…but the people of the internet generally being assholes changed me.

It was just like in real life where people got on me and found me easy pray cause of being a loner and overly kind, and I ultimately started "pretending" to be an asshole right back and stuff simply to see if it would have an effect. It did and before I knew it that was how I was on the internet, I was no longer pretending.

And really, when I think about it there's not much need to be the same person completely online. Sure, people will know you better but the internet really doesn't need to know exactly who you are. Being different on the net actually helps keep yourself "yourself" as you're able to get it out of your system on the internet.

Just like how someone screams into their pillow to relieve stress, you can do the same on the internet by typing a rant or just generally acting different.

The main difference between me and online and me in real life is that I just don't talk often in real life. I don't have much of an ego either way.

The only difference I can think of is that I'm more irritable offline. Online, what people say doesn't bother me as much since I can just ignore it if I want to. I'm also probably a little more open about my emotions online, I don't like to seem like too much of a softie in real life.

That and my usernames are generally male while I am female, but that's not really an ego difference.
