Surely not the gold standard of verbal translation… but in its own right I think the atmosphere was captured very well - and that´s what translation is about in a broader understanding, really a fresh wind in the scene

A pun in Japanese loses it's potency when translated to English, right? No one finds a joke funny when it needs to be explained to them, nevertheless, the Mangaka's intention was for a joke to be there. A slavish adherence can often result in crude and stilted dialogue, and - as bedrock says - a loss of the proper atmosphere.
At the end of the day, if you enjoy it, then that's great and what we want obviously, if you don't, hopefully you can find a group you prefer.

I wouldn't call this an "official" translation though. More like a gag translation. Even while you're trying to keep the atmosphere, it's like putting in your own set of dialog that was never said by the characters. Adaptation is a must, but changing the entire line is something you shouldn't do.

I actually really enjoyed it, to me it captured the mood so much better.
However I do have mixed feelings about it also because it isnt the "direct translation." Suprisingly to me though I actually enjoyed it a bit more reading the chapter the second time more just because of the translation. I think from now on I'm gonna read another translation for accuracy but yours for entertainment. Once again thanks.
I liked it, m'self. The only qualm I have was changing Brooke's explination of his strong roots preserving his afro. If that had been left as-was, it'd be perfect. I see what you're saying, too, about americanizing the jokes. Makes sense, since part of the job of the translator is to convey the original experience of the source, not just blindly translating it.
Hello guys, thanks for the comments. We've been in the Bleach community for a little longer so I reckon they're used to us by now, obviously I don't want to comment too much on my thoughts since I'm a bit biased (
) but I myself do quite like the translation.
