Ok me and my room mate were thinking about getting a new pet, we were either thinking about getting a puppy, or my plan a lobster.
Any suggetions?

Make sure you do your research and determine which is better for your lifestyle. Remember puppies live for 15+, and will need all their vet visits, shots, dentals, etc. And puppies have to go quite a bit at first to get their puppy shots.
As for a lobster..a nice big tanks with good filters. Though if i were you I and was going to have to get all that for a lobster, I would just forget the lobster and get a really cool Marine fish. Maybe a lion fish, or some kind of eel.
It would probably be easier to go smaller. Ferrets are awfully cute, and they have the funniest personalities. There are also rabbits, and chinchillas. I would love a sugar glider.
Anyways, don't know if I was any help. Good luck finding a pet.

Get a hamster. Or a Rabbit. They both need less attention then a pup.

Depends on where you live, for one thing. Do you have a yard for a dog, or would you be willing to take him out for walks and play time a couple of times a day? Also, if this is your roomie, when you go seperate ways, who takes the pet? Will you guarrantee being able to take care of a pet that may live more than 15 years? Plus pay for food, vaccinations, license, other medical bills from illness/injury?
If you're not sure what your situation is going to be in a few years, stick with an animal like a hamster, rat, fish, they're easy to take care of.

Corn snakes are a good choice. They're inexpensive, relatively docile and resilient, and have been kept for many years, so they've debugged the care process pretty well. You'll probably only need to feed them once a week or even less frequently (depending on season) and clean them equally often. They'll fit in a mid-sized aquarium and are quiet.

Here on Oahu, at Ranch-99 there used to be one of those claw game machine things. The only difference was, instead of grabbing toys, you grab live lobsters. They were intended to be food, but when I caught one, we kept it as a pet for a month or so. Unfornunately, we decided it was best for it to meet it's fate, and we cooked it. It tasted really good actually.
Two years ago or so, they removed that machine from the store. I miss those days.

A hamster is the lazy mans pet. No real attention needed for it but to just enjoy watching him live his life until his expected death. Kind of like sims.

Guinea pigs are good pets, as well… plus you can hold them in a blanket like a baby & feed em carrots!

Rats are much better pets than hamsters, because hamsters are solitary creatures, not really wanting attention, whereas rats are social, and love human attention. They're really rather smart and you can train them to do tricks and even be litter trained if you're patient enough. Unfortunately they rarely live more than 3 years, maybe 4 if you're lucky. I had a rat that lived to be about 4, but I actually had to put her to sleep because she had a huge tumor and was just looking sickly and listless.

I got a dog, who fills my bedrooms floor up with dog shit. But I've had him for 12 years, basically my entire life and I love him with all my heart.
But, get a cat. They goto the litter box and you can be lazy with them. Just give plenty of love.

Yeah, rats are awesome. I have had two in the past and they were so sweet. Hamsters are evil. they are nocturnal and really grouchy when you wake them up. I have been bit by so many stupid hamsters. The Dwarf ones are cute but even more ill tempered than the regular ones. They will chase your hand down to bite you.
Also, if you like snakes, milk snakes are really cool too. There is one at work that I loved, but I sold him today. Both milk and corn snakes are really docile, and if started early will eat frozen mice, you won't have to feed them live mice.
Though Cats are the best pets ever!

Rats I could never own because I live in NY and I have been traumatized, just thinking about them as pets… shudders

I had a rabbit when I was a kid that ate anything rubber. We kept her in the garage and she ate my bicycle tires, and half a floor mat from our car. She also ate a hole in a friends shirt while she was holding her. We gave her away, and the first night she ate the hose to their washing machine. ::wassat:

Cats only ruin your house if you have lots of them and you let them.
I've seen houses with one or two cats that are prestine, because the cats were trained to be well-behaved. Some people are just too lazy to train them…or they have exceptionally problematic cats. My little cat Ziggy REALLY took a lot of training, still ongoing...probably because he's part feral. Our old cat Cinto was a saint of a cat. Even Brownie, the stray cat we brought in, is completely mellow...he was obviously previously owned by someone else but was abandoned. -
Go for a dog. They are very loyal if trained and can protect the house or you in the time of need. Dogs can be trained to do alot of things, heck my dog eats rice and other asian foods. That and don't get a cat…just my opinion but this one time a cat attacked me out of nowhere...and well...I kinda hate cats now.
If you dont want to give it too much attetion but still want to play with it, get a cat since they can be trained and can protect you a bit. Though you might want to train it on what to attack and what not to attack.

I mean, sorry...maybe you should work at a restaurant where they don't cook lobsters :3 I have a hard time feeling sorry for creatures that taste good...I don't think I could slaughter a pig or cow myself though. Chickens, I could deal with cutting their heads off. Fish, I could kill and clean. If I had to fend for my own food I guess I wouldn't eat red meat or pork.

Try killing & gutting a deer… it's traumatizing... especially when you're 7 years old... lol

If you don't feel right about killing and gutting it yourself, you shouldn't be eating it. Think of how many vegitarians there would be, if people actually followed that. Though, I would have to stop being vegitarian then. (I do it for health reasons, not for moral)

Lobsters are basically fat insects living in water. If you don't have any regretsl after squashing a bug, and I sure as hell don't, you shouldn't feel remorseful when you boil a lobster alive.
I've seen a pig getting killed when I was a kid… Wasn't a pretty sight. Still didn't stop me from eating pork though, but I can't help to feel a little bit sorry everytime I have a piece of bacon. I like pigs.

I couldn't actually take the life of something..but once that is already done..
I grew up in a farm town and understand the concept of raising livestock for market. I showed pigs all during high school. Sent three to market, and the last one ended up in my freezer. the first time it was hard, because I got attached and thought of him as a pet. Next ones I didn't.
I have seen a pig and cow being processed, didn't bother me at all. (I wasn't there when they actually killed the animal) and in my Animal Science class at OSU, we toured the processing plant that was on campus.
I don't mind eating meat, but I have a lot of respect for vegetarians. I couldn't do it.
On the pet topic…a lobster would be a nice conversation starter. "you have any pets" Yeah I got a lobster.

So in a sense, yes. XDThere was an article I saw that I was looking for…about how people in Africa or wherever it was have this big feast of locusts...they call them the "shrimp of the desert" because they taste similar, apparentlly.

Us humans concentrate too much on looks, if someone cooked a locust while we aren't present and then present it to us saying it is shrimp, we'd most likely eat it and like it.

Well sounds like you should consider getting tropical salt water fish that don't reqire all that much care.
Otherwise, if you want a pet pet, then if you feel like it a cat(although I'm not fond of most of them, not playful enough) or a small dog(but no chiauwa or however it's spelled, unless you really love them) like a maltese or a small poodle. I like maltipoos.

they ate on Crocodile Dundee... and that's only because it looks like a bird -_-
