I wouldn't mind if Brooke stayed as a full-member, however I believe that he is only a temporary companion. If skeletons are immortal and could roam the world, then the whole world would be covered in them. I figure the Florian Triangle handles the supernatural/undead; and thats partially why I see Brooke staying behind rather than remaining.

I said it before in another thread, you people are really jumping the gun with this.
Luffy asks anyone at first glace to join his crew, Gaimon and Iceburg being two examples that come to me immediately. They both declined, but just because Brooke says yes is not a sure thing by any means.

His concept is kinda cool, but there's no way I'm completely sold on him yet - we know next to nothing about him yet, other than he can shit.

I think a lot of you will suffer from something I will coin, 'Kaku Syndrome.' There's a hint of potential for being a crewmember, and since you have some sort of internet-pride, you won't let it go no matter how hopeless it becomes.

I knew if I was an immortal skeleton, wandering around the mists for decades, I'd latch onto the first living things I saw and hoped for a safe exit. It certainly would be interesting if he joined, he'd be on the Franky scale of weirdness (though in terms of greatness he's still not comparable). Still, we simply don't know enough to make an educated guess about him. In any case I wouldn't ride him off as good just because Luffy seems to like him.

His anatomy is that of a human. A very tall human, but a human nonetheless.

I'm telling you, he's bloody Mr. 11. Except for the hat, it all matches up. Tall guy, bullet wound in skull (Mr. 11 was shot in the head), Suit, and a character being introduced just to die is not Oda's style.

They're both black. Mr. 1 looks like a buff version of Sisquo. Ok, so there are more afro americans than I said. Aokiji still don't look black to me though.

It may seem crazy but some ways I agree some ways I don't agree. Why however I don't know so as Black Beard would say it, "It's all up to fate!" So it's up to fate and how Oda decides it wether Aokiji and Brooke are related or not.

When he was first introduced. To be fair, at the time the other Galley-La foremen had potential too, but NOBODY let the Kaku issue die. Even after Zoro beat his ass. I don't know why, but people gave him a greater chance than Pauley at the time.

I mean the captain asked him to join the crew, and he accepted. What more do you need? He is a Strawhat now. It has nothing to do with Gaimon, Crocus, Kureha or Iceberg, who all refused straight away.

I'm not saying he'll stay a permanent member, but to compare him with Kaku or any other characters who seemed helpful to the Strawhats isn't relevant IMO. It's clearly a case we've never seen before in the manga, actually reminds me of Robin's joining more than anything.

Nobody has any idea whether there is any blood relation to Aokiji and the walking dead guy. Being tall and having dark curly hair is a silly reason. Oda likes drawing guys with fro's. And considering these skeleton guys have probably been that way a really long time, if there is a relation is so far in the past it might as well not matter.

I hate to say it, because I think he's all kinds of awesome, but I think that Brooke is going to be another Gaimon - a nifty, likeable character that makes friends with the Mugiwaras and hangs out with them for a short time and a short time only. There has to be some kind of bizarre reason that he's undead, and I think it's likely that he can't "survive" outside of the Florian Triangle.

Also, Brooke probably can't leave the triangle, but if they aren't able to take him with them I will be very sad. It would be a waste of both a (bona fide) gentleman and an afro.

Wow, for once there's a character I don't especially like.

There's something I've been wondering, where did all this hype about Brooke come from? He was only shown for about three pages and yet people are talking about how cool he is. At first, I thought it would be kinda funny, but after hype wore off (about a day later) the idea of an afro skeleton seems… kind of boring to me. We haven't seen much of him, so we don't know anything about his character or his past, so it would be really out of place for him to just randomly show up out of nowhere and join after one panel.

As for my opinion right now? I think he'll be a red herring for a potential crewmember. Oda got us all good when he first introduced Paulie just to have Franky join, who's to say he won't do the same thing again? Plus, we've barely seen Franky interact with the other crewmembers, having Brooke join now would make Franky's official joining seem not as important.

I guess you'll put me in the "have Brooke join but leave because of the triangle" wagon.
