If someone is going to go ahead and spend an hour preparing a post to the best of his ability and then get a following of 10,000 posts saying "There are no physics in One Piece", why not just go ahead and add a rule and delete all the threads?

I'm inclinded to think "who cares", but I don't see any reason to ban that kind of discussion, I think that if you happen to not believe in debating any kinds of physics issues, then just stay out of the discussion.
On the other hand, making it some kind of punishable offense for someone to make a comment that they don't believe in physics in One Piece is also silly. I think you all should just learn to get along and respect each other.

More often than not, the actual discussion is just a bunch of people whining endlessly. If more people like Zephos, Terek, "Fire Fist" Ace, and some others contributed more that those people I would be glad to discuss physics.

Anyway, it is somewhat insulting to start an intelligent conversation and then just have everyone lower your post to idiocy.

I know, but we can't really ban people for just being "unintelligent". It's forum fact of life. However, if people are posting completely off-topic, flaming, or not taking the threads seriously at all and are just there to heckle, then yes, we can do something about that.

Do you really need to go in depth about the physics though? Is it really that important, and more importantly, do you think Oda has even thought that far into his own series? I'm not going to ask you if you can't simply enjoy it without tearing it apart and examining insides that might not even be there, because I suppose that's what some of you people do. But you have to realize, One Piece is not a Pulitzer Prize winning story, nor is Oda the next John Steinbeck. You can't expect others, who simply view the story for fun and relaxation even, to read you guys' through examination and not think, "Geez, this guy is either obsessed, or he takes things way too seriously." If you can post long essays, then they can think you're crazy, and you can really just ignore them. And honestly, don't expect me to monitor something like this. It's harmless.

I know Taboo, and don't get me wrong. I know this sentence has been copied and pasted countless times but Oda obviously has quite ä flippant and ridiculous side to his attitude with One Piece, but some people don't get that this series is weird and fun.

Even so, I still think it's ridiculous that Luffy can push two buildings apart because he feels like it.

The reason I watch One Piece is because of it's originality, so it especially pains to me to see Luffy throwing buildings around.

take this from a physics graduate student: if you want to analyze the physics of a manga, then you either KEEP IT TO YOURSELF, or talk with fellow physics people. the public could care less about physics. in fact, when you say physics, most of the people on the street would tell you how much they hated physics back in highschool.

mangaka write stories. oda, in particular, excels at story-telling. ONE DOES NOT NEED TO BE A PHYSICIST IN ORDER TO BE ABLE TO WRITE A STORY. so really, there is no need to discuss the physics in a manga. if oda concerns so much on getting his physics explanation correct, then he'll take a 10-year break from writing manga in order to finish up a PhD in physics.

It's not like if you fail Physics, you suddenly think that people can take blows to the head and live where that blow would originally smashed daimond!

I know it's a Manga, and I know it's not realistic, but honestly.

manga usually deals with fantasy world. that's why we see harem manga, mecha, supernatural stuff etc. one piece is no different. it's a fantasy. luffy throwing building is not a result of oda's lack of knowledge, but merely because of his superhuman strength.
using physics to analyze where luffy got his supernatural strength and whether things obey the laws of physics in OP, however, is simply overkill
