Figured it was about time I started my own art thread, even though my art is mediocre.

And here's your first toy. A functionable Robin paper doll. The design is poor. Best printed on stock. Use an exacto knife for hard to cut places.

Mr. Bushido- I wish I had illustrator. T_T I used photoshop so it was somewhat a pain in the ass.

Well compared to other amateur artists on DA, I'd say I'm mediocre…or worse.

'nyway, I've just read OP chapter 441. I liked a certain panel, so I drew it and colored it.

Ahhh, I really like your last picture, but you're right; the blood looks more like ketchup than actual blood. Other than that, though, nicely done!

Hmmm… The coloring is definately fantastic! But, the lineart needs some work. By itself, it feels very flat, and the proportions and posing seem Egyptian*. However, again, the coloring is great. There are some iffy parts (Ace's blood is one example, and some of the manga colorings look like they were colored by hand [not in a good way]), but all-in-all, you're definately more skilled in coloring with Photoshop than I am.

Not perfect, but pretty good.

*A term I use to describe pictures wherein the poses are flat and rigid, resembling Egyptian tomb paintings.

Well, for instance, in the first pic, the characters look a little flat (particularly in the head and arm area). Xiao Lu Nu's a bit hard to make out (and my best bet at her pose feels akward), and the Bleach one where you say your lineart sucks apparently needs no explaining, since you can see it. However, the one below it has similar issues (particularly the placement of the arm). Also, Ace's head feels like it's a bit too far back in relation to his neck.

As for the manga coloring, the Ichigo and Orihime pic is alright (though I don't know how crazy I am about how white you let some of the areas get), but the one you gave up on seems to have the shading trace around the characters' faces oddly. Particularly Rukia's cheeks; they seem huge, and her nose looks like its sinking in because of it.

Don't mean to seem nitpicky or asshole-y, just giving constructive criticism. I figure this is better for you, as an artist, than blind praise (don't get defensive, folks).

Yeah, I'm not a great artist, far from it but I'd say when coloring blood..don't give it a dark shade. It should already be dark and just have light color reflecting off it.

Thanks for the crits, I really do appreciate it. I just needed to know which pics you were specifically referring to. I'm easily confused, just so you know. Just to clear up a few things though, the digital coloring technique I use has its roots in traditional coloring techniques, which is why is sort of looks hand colored.

In all honesty, I really dislike coloring digitally, but I continue to do it, because it is the most convenient. No messes, no need to buy paper or other art supplies, and lots of access to effects and stuff.

I especially love the goldfish one! Fish are some of my favorite creatures. It's very lovely and realistic. ^^

I'm not dead…yet!

So yeah...I've decided to push back that deer girl oneshot due to lack of experience. Instead, I've started on a test one-shot called Dream Diary. I'm currently 7 pages in. I'll post a couple pages once i get further.

Increasing the contrast made the pic more glowy which was great but at the same time it made Tatl and Tael look ugly. Oh well, can't win 'em all.
