Actually, it's on there three times.

#1 is the OVA series from 1999
#36 is the TV series
#92 is the OVA series from 2001

Oh, and keep in mind that the number of votes matters too, not just the rating. For example, an obscure series that has a rating like 9/10 wouldn't make the list if it only had like 5 votes.

Naruto isn't first, but it is on there and a pretty high number, so it works out. My only complaints are I say DBZ should be a bit higher than that. In fact, a lot higher.I also can't see why Kenshin got FIRST; I love Kenshin, but I think some other series on there should be higher than that, especially since it is listed THREE times. But, beggars can't be choosers, so ah well.

Although Lupin III has high ratings, the most votes a single one has gotten is 16 (and that's for Castle of Cagliostro). Out of the 28 different Lupin III related things on the site (movies, series, etc.) most have only around 2-6 votes/reviews. Advent Children has like 80 something votes/reviews.

Well, I haven't seen it so I don't know. I'm just saying that the number of votes doesn't mean (to me anyway) that it "beat" Lupin. It just means it's more popular.

If Lupin III had around 80 votes, there's a chance it might still have a higher rating that Advent Children's 6.7. But I dunno, I'm just guessing.

I mean, my favorite series ever (Giant Robo) only has 5 votes. But I would bet money that it would still be just as highly rated (9 something) even if it had 200 votes (well, maybe its rating might go down to an 8).

Well, Akira's animation alone would guarantee it a spot on my list (if I had one). I watched it recently and the quality of animation still blows my mind. This might seem shallow, but part of the reason I watch cartoons is to see them actually "move" and "animate" or whatever. So visuals are very important to me (otherwise I might as well read a book).

And Akira is fairly popular, so it just seems realistic to me that it would get on there.

Hokuto no Ken is a cool series, and it has a reputation, but I still doubt that too many people actually watch it. I would never expect it to even get close to being on the list (it currently only has 5 reviews).

Oh, I see. It was my fault. I thought you were objecting to Akira being on the list. I used to go to a forum where Akira (the anime, not manga) was bashed quite often, so it was just a reflex to defend it I guess. And since it seems to be the story that people most often have a problem with, I usually defend the animation (because even if somebody doesn't like the story, they should at least give some credit to the animation).

Well, it certainly ain't 'Happy Flower Mountain Gumdrop Lollyland Adventures'. It's very 'adult' in all aspects. Nevertheless, certianly give it a go if you feel mature enough.

There is a bit of exposed boobs scattered about. But the oddest thing to me in the beginning's Griffith's orientation. But other than that, it is an awesome shonen story.

It really didn't affect me at all I just saw the whole series because alot of people said it makes you really sad and cry. It was more boring than sad to me.
