Lyrics for Crazy Rainbow Star

Ok so I have been a watcher of ADC for a while now and I love the fansub. This is my first post to this forum, but I have a question/concern about the lyrics to Crazy Crazy Rainbow Star. Ok, so right after the lyrics "Cast a magic spell" the phrase "kakereba" is sung. And the way it is translated by ADC is "With all your hope." Now I am not saying this is wrong, or questioning the authority of ADC's translator, because that person undoubtedly speaks much better Japanese than I do, but there is a verb in the Japanese language that doesn't have an english equivalent about making a rainbow. Kakereba is the conditional form of the verb kakeru (i think). this verb can only be used when talking about a niji (rainbow) and since this song is about a crazy rainbow, then would that alter the meaning of kakereba? I am just trying to fully understand the translation. If I am off with my assumption, please let me know I just want to figure this out, because that phrase has been bothering me for a while. Thanks for your time. Also this is in no way a stab at the translators of adc or at adc themselves; this is for the pursuit of knowledge.

sounds interesting - you said that the meaning is altered when used in context with rainbow - but how altered?

does the word - you have in mind - make sense?

jalatiphra: I really didnt want to have to get into linguistics with this matter but it looks like I might have to. So the word kakeru has multiple meanings in Japanese. To run, to wear, to soar/fly. Ok then you factor in the grammar: Conditionals which with ru verbs you take off the ru and put in re ba. So with kakeru you would get kakereba. What this does is express an open hypothetical condition. And that is the form of verb this is, a conditional. (Im starting to get in over my head). Going back to the lyric kakereba, and I think it means to cast a rainbow, but only when talking about a rainbow does the verb kakeru mean to cast a rainbow, or something of that nature. I really dont know what it means exactly, but I'd like to find out. So I want to know where the translation for kakereba in c.c.r.s. comes from. I hope this clears up my thoughts.

Well if anyone cares I think i figured out why this has been so confusing. With the subtitle for kiboudejyumonwokakereba. there is a period after the translation for cast a magic spell when I believe there should be a comma. This whole time I thought the word kakereba stood on its own. So maybe I have this figured out.

LPS, avitar and sigs take to much time..I just wanted to figure out this translation thing on this forum so I might do it..if I have time.
