This group hasn't got a name still. And our QC was missing these days so this release could have some mistakes.

      Download subtitle file

This is a script release, meaning that you have to use a RAW, if you don't have it, you can get it here, you can choose whatever you prefer:

Download High Definition Raw (This is the best one but you need a decent PC)
      Download Widescreen Raw
Download Fullscreen Raw (This is LQ this week, not recommended)

UPDATE: SakuraDestiny has an HD fansub here which you may prefer instead.

If you are wondering why we release subtitle files it is explained here.

To use a subtitles file you only need to name it the same than the video file (except the extension).

      For example:

      OP293.avi
      OP293.ass

Then open the avi with any directshow player (windows media player, media player classic, zoom player, etc…). The subtitles are in the ass file and you'll find it in the zip that you can download in the first link of this post.

If this doesn't work for you (it should) download VLC which has built-in subtitles support, and choose the ass file when loading the movie. If in doubt, ask. VLC is also the best option available for macosx and linux.

This release is free to use (and intended to) for translations, encodings or corrections; just keep some kind of credit. Hope you'll enjoy it. Special thanks go to Murasaki who did the translation.

      EDIT:
Some people seems confused about how to use the subtitles in VLC. You have to specify the path to the ASS file in the open dialog.
      Visual clue:

      EDIT2:
chpollastrini says that with bsplayer you have to rename it from .ass to .ssa.

      EDIT3:
If it doesn't work in Windows Media Player for you is because you don't have DirectVobSub but that's weird because it is included in every codec pack that I know of so you should have it. If you don't have a codec pack I recommend only cccp.

Awesome, I'd test it out but I need to get caught up in the manga, stopped following it after they reached Enies Lobby.

Thanks Kuzan. It works great with Windows Media Player.

I'm going to try to create a subbed release of the widescreen version using this script, and then if that turns out okay, I will work on the HD version. I've never tried this before, but this seems like as good a time as any to learn how, so hopefully I can get something released within the next couple of days…

I'll be first to say GREAT JOB! It also helped that the episode itself was action packed 😛 .

Don't know why everyone is having probs, it's really simple. Download the raw put it in the same folder with the extracted .ass file, make sure they have the same name, but with their respective .avi and .ass file types, and that's it. You may also need that super codec pack for windows media player
                        but I doubt it.

Thanks Kuzan. It works great with Windows Media Player.

Yeah, directshow players like Windows Media Players seem to do the best rendering of the fonts.

I'm going to try to create a subbed release of the widescreen version using this script, and then if that turns out okay, I will work on the HD version. Oh, ASS supports positioning, if you watch them you'll see translation notes appear on top like regular fansubs. We could also have some effects (karaoke) and formatting (like colors), but I want to keep them on the default format so people can override it and choose the color and format they prefer (With Windows Media Player look for the DirectVobSub icon in the taskbar while playing, it's the green arrow, and double click, there you can change the font family, color, border color, etc). Apart from that, that kind of visual candy would be better suited for a full fansub that anyone is welcome to do. Our goal is fast releases, usability and facilitate encodings and translations.

Okay, just watched it and, it was not bad. The font could have been bigger and there was one part where it overlapped subtitles (idk how that happened). Otherwise, good job. 🙂

I liked it. Had no problems. I say go back and release these files for previous eps because I prefer this than hard-subs.

Okay, just watched it and, it was not bad. The font could have been bigger and there was one part where it overlapped subtitles (idk how that happened). Otherwise, good job. 🙂

We are not setting a font size. You do. Look for the preferences in your player, or if you use Windows Media Player in the DirectVobSub dialog (the green arrow in the taskbar that appears while you are playing). I guess I'll have to post some screenshots.

Great, looking forward to it. But why don't you start with the HD version since we already have a couple of groups doing widescreen?

Good idea. Actually, I'll probably just stick with the HD altogether unless I can figure out how to speed up the process. It's taking a little longer to figure out how to do it than I'd anticipated. Working with the subs is not too difficult, but figuring out which codecs to use for encoding is proving to be a challenge. If anyone has suggestions for a codec or for better software to use, please let me know (I'm using Sub Station Alpha and VirtualDub).

And, Kuzan, until you guys come up with a name, how should I credit your group? I will leave in the individual credits that you already have in the script, but I was thinking I should add something for your group name, otherwise it will look like everyone is part of my fansubbing group (which is really not even a group right now - it's just me).

aww man I love you guys. I've been waiting FOREVER to someone just to release subtitle files. I don't care that the special effects aren't there.

hey you guys made sence out of that "nukumori tsuki no hane o ageyou" line… I always wondered what "Let me give yo a warm feather" was supposed to mean XD I notice the text looks like crap in VLC player... maybe it's just me. But I prefer VobSub... I actually had uninstalled it I guess, so I had to reinstall. But Im glad I did.

So if anyone is reading this and having trouble with the text looking bad, try VobSub. Just put the sub file in the same directory as the video, and make sure both files have the same name. (except for the extension) It even works in winamp. That's what I use.

SO yeah, good job. Thanks for doing this. So glad I don't have to download two huge files anymore. It was really great... I might have notice a spelling mistake though... but now I can't find it.

Yeah, VLC doesn't render the subs as nicely as vobsub does, everybody should use that if possible.

You are welcome, and the spelling mistakes are my fault, I'm spanish and English is not my first language so I must have had some errors slip by. But from now on we have a quality checker (Hurricane) so it won't happen again.

No, sorry, and I don't think we can find the time to do it. Maybe if more people asked the other groups to release the scripts as we do they would do so but I doubt that will happen anytime soon, hardcoding subs is a long lasting tradition.

Yeah, at this point it is kind of pointless I know 😞 One of the reasons I started this is because others groups wouldn't give the scripts for translations. I was even naive enough to ask someone from K-F for them, to translate them to spanish; of course they won't do that and I respect it, though he told me that I could use their avis as base for a translation. So even is anyone is interested in tranlating from K-F you would have to time 200 episodes, which is too much work.

                                                                  @Kuzan:

Hihi, you're speaking to someone who was the fattest transscriber at one of her sidejobs. We used a nifty little program, in which you just click, enter the text, click again when the frase was over. Without the text prefabricated it would take about 2 min per 1 min video, if the person typing is fast of course. With some exercise and adding the text later it wouldn't take more than 1 min per 1 min. videa, skipping fast through all the images where there is no talking would spare a lot of time as well.
We had our own software developed but I wouldn't be surprised if likewise programs are widely available, aren't they?

But you're right, having the prefab timing always takes less time than having to do the timing yourself.

The problem is which video file to use, the raws for the earlier episodes are hardly available. Or you could use the KF avis, and use a bar over their subs. But that would be uhm… weird. I don't like it when that happens in subtitles. And I haven't got a clue how to get that done properly.

And you shouldn't think 200 episodes, you should think one ore two a week, and with more people to help, as timing is something anyone could do, it could be done in no time.

Kuzan 1 Reply Last reply Reply Quote 0

                                                                    2. Unlike with Windows Media Player and Media Player Classic, you don't seem to get the Green arrow for VLC, so hence you cannot edit the subtitles. They have to stay in their default setting.

                                                                    3. During the beginning of the episode, a subtitle line from Kumadori overlaps with another.

An OCR script extractor using directshow and some of the free open source OCR libraries should be easy to do, specially if you feed it with the font the sub is using, it could process the entire series in matter of hours. The point is being nice and not infuriating fansubbers that do not want to share their timing efforts. Though you could argue that they are doing something illegal (?) anyway, you wouldn't want to steal their precious fansubbing derived intellectual property, would you?

The problem is which video file to use, the raws for the earlier episodes are hardly available. And you shouldn't think 200 episodes, you should think one ore two a week, and with more people to help, as timing is something anyone could do, it could be done in no time.

                                                                      @Buuhan1:

                                                                      2. Of course, because VLC is not a directshow player. VLC has its own rendering engine so to edit the format just go to the preferences of VLC.
                                                                      3. Yeah I noticed. That kind of stuff won't happen again hopefully 🙂

You can do that easily with Subtitle Workshop, for example, just load and save in another format (but you will lose positioning info).
