Thundercats- now with 90% more anime!!
…......... why does everything need a fresh new look? Fuck the new generation of kids if they cant appreciate Thundercats as is.
Wow, Lion-O kinda looks like that one guy from Outlaw Star.
Also, I think it gets worse. Rumor has it that Snarf is the leader with a third eye. All the cats transform, Mum Ra gets wings. And worst of all, THE THUNDERCATS ARE IN A FUCKING ROCK BAND. Now this is rumor tho, so some of this may not happen.
Lion-o does look like guy from Outlaw Star. Gene star-something-or-another.
Yeah, I wasn't alive in it's prime, but I saw Thundercats on Toonami several years ago. Anyway, it's a fine example of classic animation, and the new design is just…blargh.
Meh, I mean many of us who grew up with Thundercats just accepted them as awesome but….yeah....they were in their underwear.
I'm just not crazy about the top of his costume being all…uh...curvacious? Makes him look like that guy from the other animated series on Comedy Central. You know, the one that sucks and isn't South Park.
All comes down to the stories and voices though I suppose.
Hope this doesn't totally kill the spirit of the series like the he-man remake did. :/
This is gonna be awesome!!!
This is gonna suck dorks!!!
This makes me question my faith in God… I weep for humanity.
Agh, it's hideous! Although to be fair, the slim figure is more cat-like… but then again, he's a lion and lions are supposed to be bulky animals.
Anyway, I think cartoon producers don't seem to understand that the fact that they're EIGHTIES cartoons is what makes them appealing. I can't imagine the Thundercats without their glam-rocker look and other weird stuff that could only be dreamed up in the eighties. I also heard a rumor that Jem was coming back, and a modernized version would serve absolutely no purpose.
ya, I don't mind the new design that looks like Gene Starwind, but remakes of awsome 80S cartoons always end up bad. bad bad bad bad bad!
OH god, my friend is an ultamite thundercats fan. I have to show this to her.
(jem could work, if they don't give us a shit ass story)
How the times have changed

Lion-o, on a never-ending quest to save his girlfriend.
I am only going to give this new Thundercats a chance becuase i really loved the original version.
So, is there any new actually being made? God forbid someone would ever come up with something fresh.
American Anime Fans! Rejoice!
It's not like the Thundercats were non-queer to begin with. I mean I loved them as a kid but looking back….yeah.

You sir are weird.
I admit I for the most part I like the new look, except A. lack of muscles, and B. the lack of the Gauntlet/scabard. That was my favortite gadget.
I be sure to give it a chance.
@Mr.:

oh come on, he does have a point. Let's call a spade a spade.

You sir are weirder, but seriously I will be opitimistic about the show untill I see the final version.

Maybe it magicly shrinks as it goes into one of his side pouches there. You know, sort of like what happens in Zelda.
It's funny because in the old picture Lion-o actually did look pretty damn stupid. Well, I guess it would've been okay to me with the new style and his old bulk. I always find myself at odds with these bony girly "heroes."
It does look a bit like Gene Starwind… o.o
I don't really mind the new style, though I do wish it didn't look so, er... 'typical?'
Then again, I didn't really group with much Thundercats to begin with. >.>
I'm conflicted on the new design.
I wouldn't associate scrawny with lion when it comes to character designs, but at least he's wearing actual clothes. It's kind of stupid that they took away his boots though; having exposed feet isn't that wise when you're a melee fighter.

ya, but he's part creature. creatures love going barefoot. Beats confining their feet in tight aquard footwear. besides, you get better grip without shoes.
and what's this about being girly? He looks pretty manly to me. Just more realistic muscles. Seeing, as he looks like Gene Starwind, I never thought of Gene as a wimp. I look a gene, and can tell he can hold his own.
@Mr.:

So just because you liked it as a kid it means it's gold amirite
wrong
Truth be told…..
The best part about Thundercats were the intro and.....
wait foooor iiiiiiiiiiiit
Snarf.

Creatures also love going about naked, but that doesn't seem to be the mentality here.
Anyway, Lion-O fights with a sword, which means close combat. In real life, the minute his opponent noticed he wasn't wearing shoes would be the minute that his toes are stomped into the ground.

Well, he's a twig for one thing. If it were some other kind of big cat, then it might not be so bad, but lions are pretty solidly built animals compared to, say, a cheetah.

Snarf.
I treated him as a "so lame it's kind of entertaining" thing.
I remember one episode he somehow used Mum-Ra's cauldron or whatever to became SNARF-RA or something and become huge. It was so loveably retarded.
My friend was telling me about the wierd plot of an episode, where the ocean had a plug (like in a bath tub) and the villains wanted to pull it out and drain all the water from the world, and the thundercats had to protect the drain at the bottom of the ocean.
anyways…

ok, well you have a point there…then again, thinking of disney's gargoyles, they wore clothes, but no shoes.

aha, well, then you can't complain about his new outfit with that mentality. The old Lion-O had less protective armor than the new one. His abdomen is wide open for a shot. His intestines could easily be ripped out with one swipe of a claw. (eaw….)
New design needs less points and curves and more MEAT. And some masculinity.
"Does this costume make me look fat?
ANOREXIA HOOOOOOOOO!!!!"
Good part: Liono looks great
Bad part: Snarf…the leader..... thats crazy

No its just means I am going to give it a chance, what wrong with that.
Plus monkeys are blue.

I remember that episode.
In addition to owning my soul it's also a prime example of how awful ideas were in the 1980's…..in a good double-negative kind of sorta not way.
I don't like it.

My favourite episode is the one when Tigra becomes addicted to drugs a fruit that causes him to hallucinate.
And those robot bears were just weiiird.
Mumm-Ra was an awesome villan; I liked Thundercats a lot ages ago but I probably wouldn't have been so passionate about if if Mumm-Ra wasn't so dang awesome.
THE THUNDERCATS ARE IN A FUCKING ROCK BAND
Like a many a cartoon from the 70s? Awesome.

Haha, yeah, those always seemed trippy as hell.
It's not so much the characters that's bothering me about a new series. It's the fact that the Thundercats are teens and are supposed to be in a rock band when not fighting supervillians. Which means emo and crappy music.
Haven't seen you in a while, what's up Bucc.
Mumm-Ra was an awesome villan; I liked Thundercats a lot ages ago but I probably wouldn't have been so passionate about if if Mum-Ra wasn't so dang awesome.
Oh yeah, I agree. He was pretty much the main draw to me.
And those fucking robot bears… the stuff of nightmares.
@Cap'n:

Why the hell were they so protective of those damn fruits if they couldn't eat?
How do they even have sex
The same way they eat the fruit probably. There are males and females for a reason.
Oh no…lol. I knew IT WAS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME!
They must bring back every 80's franchise. Next it will be the Smurfs!
(yes that's a joke, I hope I didn't have to tell anyone that)
I can certainly understand the re-design of the Thundercats, I just don't know where the story will go. I thought the He-Man remake was pretty cool because it was very close to the original's story. I didn't really watch the Thundercats much though.
I was gonna say "There is no God!" but, I never really payed attention to the original series, so..
Smurfette looks hotter.

Oh god, if that was actually a show, I'd watch it in a heartbeat! XD
