Hmmm, i like this theory, scar a Yonkou 22yrs ago before they had Yonkou status and then be forever renowned as stronger than them. come on people, stop being so silly. As things are at present what we know for sure is that even against WB shanks is no pushover. A scar means nothing at this moment in time. However if BB isn't a red herring, you can expect him to at least rise up to be as strong as Shanks.

BB is crazed maniac who doesn't think about anything except of trying to become the Pirate King. On the order hand, Shanks doesn't care about that (since he does always look the person who doesn't really care about issues like that). Plus Shanks is one of those characters that who only thinks "im an emporer, and no one can beat me, so life is good" or something like that (the time when Mihawk visited him, he does show that, since he's just there, and not doing much, unless he was celebrating about something he accomplished that time)

That's not reckless because of the personal implications, but cuz their crews would hafta start fighting big time, and that isnt wanted by anyone. the four emperors are on WB's level, i remember they were introduced as such. I don't think BB is quite Yonkou level yet, so if he challenged Shanks or WB at this point, I'm pretty sure it would be a fight that would be long, but with BB losing. he still doesn't have reflexive Logia powers yet, as we saw this last chapter, so that would be a weakness. And i think that WB and Shanks are on a level that they have some way of dealing with Logia's, so BB would actually have to be very strong and not rely on his DF to even get near them or dodge.

Wow, this topic has quickly gone from being a 'Shank vs Blackbeard' to a 'Shanks v Whitebeard'.
Back on topic. I believe that it is to early in the story to call this as se have very little info on these two. What amazes me though, is that people can use the fact that Teach scarred Shanks as evidence that Teach is stronger. That happened whilst Shanks was still a kid with above average combat skills, and we have no knowledge of the improvements he has made till now. Same for Blackbeard. Anyway, thats my two cents.

dude all of the 4 emperors are of similar strength or else they would of destroyed each other. that's the reason whitebeard and gold roger didn't destroy each other because they were of similar strength and could not get over each other. let's say whitebeard is stronger than shanks but maybe shanks is a better fighter so that makes up for the difference in strength. the other 2 emperors may have stronger crews than both whitebeard or shanks and that is what makes up for the difference in strength. blackbeard may end up being both a better fighter than shanks and also stronger we don't know and now that he has a devil fruit then he will be all that much harder to deal with.

Blackbeard is tough but a scar is not a victory those missing teeth of his may have been the consequences of striking shanks.
If whitebeard is the strongest man in the world then he is more powerful than shanks. However when all the crew is put together they are probably even which is why they haven't all annihilated eachother

I betcha none of them have a crew bigger than Don Krieg, or at least much bigger, so by that reasoning he should be pretty strong.

Got some thoughts about Shanks VS Blackbeard, and about both of their stregth;
What we know about Shanks & Blacbeard:
Shanks got his scars after Gol D. Roger died, and before he met Luffy.
Shanks or Blackbeard did not have a DF power back then.
Shanks had both of his arm when they fought.
Blackbeard got a logia DF, darkness (from what he said in ch.440)What I think (strictly speculations):
Blackbeard Pirates < Whitebeard Pirates
Shanks got a DF ability
Shanks with DF ability > or = BlackbeardOh yeah was he an emporer status pirate before he went to Fuschia and met Luffy? If he wasnt, i'm pretty sure of he got a DF ability which makes up for his loss (that being his left arm).

So to say that Zoro would be weaker is a speculation, for all I know is…

Where did you get that Shanks got his scar after Gol D Roger died?Douriki is just physical strength zoro is a swordsman and excels in skill. Also basing zoros douriki on his fight with kaku is a waste of time. Zoro had no problems with kaku apart from tekkai so kaku wasn't a match at all.
When zoro used gorrila arms he completly over powered bigan like it was a child with a rattle attacking him. I think zoro would even beat lucci now that I've seen asura.

Ok, so this is where you're coming from with this. There are so many unknowns that everything is speculation.
We know Shanks and BB fought sometime ago after Roger died and before we see Shanks in Luffy's village. I keep wondering if Oda messed here, b/c my initial reaction was that BB fought with Shanks after he left WB's ship, but this seems to be incorrect from what's been presented so far in the manga.
Has Shanks/BB improved since the fight? We can only assume they both increased in experience. If Shanks is indeed using this to judge BB's current strength, then the conclusion is simple. BB is a monster! Can he defeat Shanks now that he has his new Logia DF power? BB probably thinks he can, but like with Enel; even though Enel was so powerful, it took only one rubberman to take him down!
I see your point WHITEBEARD, and I pose this to you. If BB is indeed powerful enough to defeat Shanks, then BB is also powerful enough to defeat WB. Reason. We can assume that WB and Shanks have fought multiple times since Roger's death and Shanks became recognized as a Yonkou. We can tell that WB has a certain degree of respect (as does his crew) for Shanks as he boards WB's ship. WB is the strongest man, but has been (till now) unable to take out Shanks (and his crew). This would imply that Shanks is almost the same strength as WB. Now, if you claim that BB is now so much stronger than Shanks, that he can defeat Shanks, I say this means BB is also stronger than WB.
