Blackbeard's non-devil fruit abilities? [spoilers]

Without the fruit? The whole reason why he got the fruit was so that he could show all of the other Devil Fruit users that their powers would be useless.

In other words I'm trying to say that he knew that he would have to fight many people with Devil Fruits in order to become king, includion Logia's who can't be hurt physically. So he sought out the fruit that would nullify that barrier so he could get in and pummel them like he always does.

So the reason why he got the Darkness Fruit was so that he could bypass people hiding behind Devil Fruit powers and show them what pain is. More or less.

No, that was a mistranslation, Blackbeard's fruit doesn't magically make him take extra damage from attacks. it's just an unconventional logia-type fruit. He can nullify other powers, but the tradeoff is that he can't turn into an elemental form that lets him bypass attacks.

Anyways, it's the great age of pirates, it's obvious that most logias are pretty much screwed up if they ever face pirates like Whitebeard and Shanks in let's say, the sea. I could actually see most logias (except Eneru) being blown away into the sea by their opponents rather than being physically damaged. It would be so ackward if Oda really brought some kind of energy that allowed common humans to damage anything.

We don´t know the real power of Ace, the only time that we saw him before his fight against Blackbeard was in the Arabasta Arc and we don´t know about his real strenght because he never fought against an strong enemy. The truth is that the only one who nearly fought against him was Smoker and they abandoned the fight.

In Arabasta Luffy was less powerful than 3 monsters named Crocodile, Ace and Smoker, at the end he surpassed one of them and weeks later he fought against a man named Eneru who was more stronger and with the advantage of the Mantra. From my point of view Ace strenght is around Gear 1 Luffy and current Zoro.

But before Yami Blackbeard we saw people with a physical strenght that goes beyond the 4 monsters that I have mentioned, first with Ao Kiji who has enough physical strenght to kick ass without having to make active his devil fruit and later with Gear 2 Luffy and Rob Lucci.

The difference is that people like Luffy, Lucci and others can give more problems to Blackbeard than Ace who believed that with a Logia fruit he was unbeatable and this is the same error that Crocodile and Eneru did.

You cant use Luffys fight vs Eneru to compare his strenght with other people… its like saying regular marines that use seastone nets are stronger then Luffy because they managed to catch him in the nets. Eneru was at a natural disadvantage because in odaworld rubber beats electricity. and an even further disadvantage because he didnt know about the existance of rubber in the first place.

Blackbeard was able to withstand Ace's fire attacks and "that" punch he delivered seem to do a good number on Ace. Van Auger also said that Ace seemed to be very adept at close range attacks.

So yeah, Blackbeard's no slouch.

Yeah, he took a Pistol without even flinching. Maybe he froze his muscles, but I doubt it, even Robin's clutch broke him apart, so a Pistol would have pretty much broke him if he had actually turn into ice.

Aokiji seems like a slowpoke or just an ubberly lazy bastard, so I bet he, unlike the other three logia, actually uses his powers to train his body, even tough I dunno how training in low temperatures could improve Aokiji's enduranc. Perhaps he just did some twisted crap like freezing his nerves to become inmune to the pain inflicted by that pistol, wich would explain the ever lasting steam, but who knows, I'm not the one who makes up the ideas for logia abilities. :S

Well it all depends on if he can make the ice take on different properties imo. maybe if he completly freezes himself he becomes more fragile then if he only freezes part of himself.
and he was more prepared for Luffys attack then Robins so that could possibly have had an effect as well. maybe breaking apart served a purpose when fighting Robin but not with Luffy (but he still froze himself both times).

In general strength (in terms of raw strength) I'd say Ace is as strong as gear 2 Luffy's raw strength. Ace had more time to train his raw strength as he ate his devil fruit much later on in his life. Plus, he has three years on Luffy, in terms of fighting bad guys and getting stronger.

In strength (fighting ability), Ace is still far superior to Luffy. Yet Blackbeard pissed all over Ace once he began getting serious. In raw power, I'd say Blackbeard is gaining on Whitebeard, and probably as strong as Shanks. The reason he isn't up there as one of the Yonkou is that he's taking his time.

So in terms of raw power, Blackbeard's a hairy BEAST!

Agreed. It did only take two punches for Ace to be spurting up blood and ready to go into his final attack. Blackbeard has 'Final Antagonist' written all over him. He does seem oddly patient, maybe part of his fate mentality.
