I like how you took some of the magical curse plot of Davy Jones from Dead Man's Chest & At World's End and applied it to OP.
It's possible but even if this has any validity I think the DFs will eventually be tied in to the lost kingdom, void century, and the will of D.

I really don't see why the devil fruits have to be tied to anything.
Even before Pirates of the Caribbean Davy Jones was synonymous with the devil and Blackbeard constantly talks about darkness and he considers his fruit to be the most evil of all . Here is some references to Davy Jones as being the night and a storm kinda like how Blackbeard's powers work

Also Yami means illegal activities and Shady Business nothing is more shady than a deal with the devil . His fruit's name is Yami Yami and I don't think Oda just put that in there for no reason when he could have giving it other less sinister names.
It is true that Blackbeard says his DF has the Devil in it, but you also have to remember that he is very much a Large Ham, and tends to overdramatize things.

It was mentioned in the manga, although maybe not from a reliable character, that if you eat a devil fruit you also get some type of demon/evil spirit, something along those lines, placed inside of you and that if you eat two they will fight inside of you and destroy your body. Therefore killing you.
I don't really know how truthful that is tho, if anyone knows how to better explain than go ahead.

Oda specifically stated in SBS Volume 48 (in between Chapter 467-468) there will be a 'doctor' that will explain what Devil Fruit is later in the story. Clearly he was referring to Dr. Vegapunk since stuff about Devil Fruit ties with Vegapunk's research has been foreshadowed ever since Volume 20 Chapter 184 as far as I know.

The devil fruits may have something to do with Davy Jones, which is why I'm working on a theory that would explain it all.
Here's what we know of Davy Jones (The One Piece version):
