The movie was made in a different animated style then normal episodes. I find the movie a darker tone that almost every other episode/chapter of One Piece. The animation helps the movie be seen as darker.

It uses a diffrent, more fluid, animation style. It's a love it or hate it style… And I'm guessing you're in the latter...
