Please STOP Posting Spoilers!!!

I have been watching the One Piece anime episodes for a few years now. Although I have started reading the back issues of the manga, I have no desire to read ahead of the current episodes.

Since many One Piece fans do not feel similarly, I normally avoid One Piece forums/wikipedia pages/etc. like the plague. I do not want to find out what happens before I get the chance to watch the episode. This forum is normally pretty good about not posting ahead of the current episode (see the Do Not Post Spoilers Ahead of the Current Episode sticky thread at the top of the forum). Though I am an admitted lurker, I have enjoyed reading the conversations by others about the current episode and arc.

I have, however, seen discussions about the new crew member in SEVERAL posts lately. There is another forum on this site (as well as many other forums elsewhere on the net) specifically for people who want to talk about this kind of thing. Please stop posting spoilers on this forum! You are ruining things for people who genuinely want to see the story unfold during the animated episodes.

I must agree as well. Until I joined this forum, I was only up to the Davy Back arc in the manga. Then the sudden, "Hey this is what Water 7 is all about and Robin's past, etc." Was being discussed without spoiler tags.

I do admit that I have done the no spoiler tag comment before though.

Discussions aren't the real killer.
I remember way back when I was watching.. I don't know Little Garden or Drum, and I was wandering around KF's forums only to see people with Robin in their signature, post-Alabasta, and I didn't know what the hell to think.

I think I've seen a few signatures here that would probably spoil some folks.

It is the truth though, a lot of the users on the forum have been showing off Black Beard pirate signatures and have been saying how "The Black Beard pirates will fight the Straw Hats. Or these Black Beard crew members will fight these Straw Hats crew members."

Really, until the actual fight happens, do not worry about it. Since Oda might just be messing with us and never allow the fight to happen.

i dont kno…it pisses me off when the one that responds to the spoiler dont use the tags...it still gives u an idea of what will happen...

I agree. Using the spoiler tag doesn't help at all when the next person to reply to the post repeats the information sans-tag. Any information that needs the spoiler tags most likely belongs in the manga discussion forum elsewhere on this site.

Yes, but, granted, it is the prerogative of the poster to use spoilers, on the grounds that they use those nifty little spoiler tags.

We can definitely tighten up the watch on spoilers in quoted threads, but from what I've seen members have been pretty good about keeping the spoilers unspoiled… >_>

Indeed - that's why I've been lurking here for so long I've just noticed a trend of spoiler posts lately, and was hoping that a post of this nature might cause those who are doing it to stop and think before they post.

When I joined this forum I was at the Drum island arc. Somehow, I was only exposed of Sogeking as a spoiler and nothing else. I think I got lucky.

Notice that I posted that I do not want to read ahead in the manga. I originally posted this thread in the ADC Fansub forum. The very first post in that forum, marked as a sticky post, is a rule stating to NOT post any spoilers ahead of the current episode. Your reply is not in the least helpful.

Personally I feel everything between the latest Anime episode and new chapter should be spoilerised, or at the very least, wait at least 2 weeks before posting em, apart from that, touch shit really

I understand where you are coming from, but that only works if you stay in the ADC section. If you are going to the other parts of the forum, you are in more danger of being spoiled.

Like I said, the only way it will be guaranteed that you don't get spoiled by the manga is to catch up with it.

When you see the spoilers ahead of the current episode spoiled in anime discussion threads, please notify mods/admins or report the post. We've taken some actions in the past, and as long as we know such posts exist, we'll take some action. It is the best if we could catch everything, but since not all the staff members here are anime fans nor we could cover everything.

As for spoilers in ava/sigs… That can't be helped. If we go for the extreme, maybe someone will start to say do not use any images further than where VIZ is... and that's like, meh. Instead, you can go here and … ... wait, where did that option go? >.>; There should be "hide avas/sigs" option somewhere.

But you know what? I survived, spoilers can't be helped and you can't expect people to type the spoiler tag every time they say something that could be a spoiler, especially seeing how most of this board IS caught up with the manga.

I agree something should be done cause I detest spoilers and the last thing I want is spoilers on such a great series as One Piece, its just gonna be hard, and it'll be a real bitch if someone gets threatened with a warning or a ban if they happen to post a spoiler without a tag.

If they choose to be behind where Oda is and decide to watch the Anime, they should accept the fact that AP is a hybrid of Manga and Anime readers/watchers and stop complaining.

There is a problem with your comment though Private Zulen, by human nature, people want to complain about issues that are actually out of their hands or because they want too.

Example: People complain about the current United States President but if you actually ask some of the biggest complainers that have spoke out against Bush if they A. actually voted in the election or B. voted against Bush. The answer you receive is quite funny since they either did not vote or voted for Bush because at one time they supported him.

Humans are almost like pathetic in a sense because we want to try to control everything, and the person who originally made this topic wants to control the amount of spoilers in people's comments. While I want you to start thinking about comments before you post. Since you do have an intelligence thought be hide some of your comments almost 90% of the time, so make up for the last 10%.

Bloody hell, I went off topic once more. Anyways I am at a 50/50 split with the original topic creator. Mainly spoilers are not that great to people who do not worship the new chapters and I personally like to stay with the chapters altogether.

It's like they got diarea or something. I've been spoiled at least 3 times over for this big thing already. and yes, I am pissy about it.

There's no reason people can't have the common curtesy to keep it to the manga board. (especially when it is listed in the forum rules) I don't read the manga board. Why, I know I will be spoiled. It would be my fault if I did. But when I go to the ADC board, about the anime, and see manga spoilers there. There is no need for that.

What always gets me though is when someone doesn't label their spoiler. Okay, so you put something in a spoiler tag. But what's it a spoiler OF? Is it a spoiler of next weeks raw? A spoiler of some manga chapter that's a year away? Or a spoiler of some movie I might not have seen? They don't say, so sometimes you click it not expecting what the spoiler pertains too.

I don't even think spoiler tags are enough. If you have to put something in a spoiler tag, then your starting a discussion about something that we don't even need to discuss here in the anime forum.

I mean, it's completely unessecary. There is an ENTIRE other set of forums for manga people to discuss what they want. The only reason to post that crap in the anime forum, spoiler tags or no, is inevitably when someone who's not a manga reader starts speculating, and some manga reader decides to post a "ha ha, I'm so cool I already know" answer.

Well we weren't asking. Any literate human being can read the manga if they want. Being a manga reader doesn't make you special. We prefer the anime as our medium of choice and like the get the best experience from it as possible by seeing it for the first time in that format. And then we like to talk about it, speculate about it without some mangaprophet being a dick.

You have your forums. If you want to talk about the manga, go there and talk to the other people that give a damn.

I was't caught up with the manga at all when I first joined... I just pick my topics carefully and I never had the problem. I mean if the thread is labled "New Crew member" and I didn't want to know who the new crew member is (get this, this is really cool) I didn't look at the topic =D
OR if ADC posted a new episode, I just read the first post to get the download link, and didn't look at the rest of the posts and replied... tis very simple.

I was just careful and I dunno, it was honestly never a problem for me.

Or even better how about following the one rule posted as a sticky and not post spoilers …tag or no tag..theres a forum for manga readers so why come here and post things that ruin things for people who dont feel like or have the time to read the manga

Well…fact is, the manga people have as much right to post things around as anime viewers, its just so happen they are behind where we are. If spoilers are gonna be enforced then I suppose we are just gotta have to remove the general One Piece forum and have anime and manga viewers strictly in their proper forums.

Even if spoilers are enforced they WILL be posted in General One Piece rather you like it or not. Its General, both anime and manga, so if you don't want spoiled I guess you're just gonna have to stay in the anime forum.

Here's just what I think everyone should do.

Manga forums: Post whatever the hell you want. It's the manga, you people are up to date. You don't even need spoiler tags there.

General forums: Post whatever you want. It's general. Go nuts.

Anime forums: Don't post shit that hasn't happened in the anime yet. Even in spoiler tags. It's just being a douche.

Individual Subber Forums: Don't post anything that that subber hasn't gotten too yet(unless it's from episode before where that subber started). Some people are loyal to certain subbers and wait for their subs, so they haven't seen things beyond that yet.

Thread titles: Don't post a spoiler of any kind IN YOUR THREAD TITLE. Thread titles for the latest thread show up on the main page, so even if I'm trying to click through to my forum for my specific subber, I will still see it if you title a thread "OMG! Franky and Chopper merge to form giant robot reindeer!!". Be vague in your title, specific in your post.

If you follow these simple guidlines, I won't have to collect your nuts.

These rules sound great I don't care what people post in the Manga/General Discussion forums (I avoid those anyhow), I just hate seeing manga spoilers in the Anime/ADC Fansub forum.

I think we talked enough in here, didn't we? No matter how many times we talk about it, some people will never read the rule and the problem will continue to exist. + It seems the problem only occurs on ADC board? They already have [an warning put up, too.
