Synopsis
Chapter 1 The New-born Jumbor
[I'm refraining from making a one-to-one translation of the lines to decrease the chance of getting into legal problems. But I'll tell the story in a way so that people who can't read the raws or get their hands on some (future) official copies will get a good idea of what's happening in the stories. Needless to say, this is a spoiler-abundant piece.]
It was 3002, and the human civilization had crumbled and rebuilt itself again and again over the thousand years, despite the destruction and challenge brought by the harsh nature.
In this era of constant war against nature and havoc, construction teams were the star of economy system, the conquering force as well as a weapon themselves, because heavy robots were used in construction works to speed up efficiency.
Jumbor was the leader of a famous construction team of a little country with a cute princess. One day, as their group was about to start a reconstruction work of a tunnel which was destroyed by an earthquake, a much more powerful construction team arrived and claimed the land in no time, killing Jumbor who tried to protect his teammates against the cruel opponents…
Jumbor woke up in 3007, finding himself revived in his own clone body (memory transplanted) which has a physical age of 5 years old, and in addition to that, his body was partly mechanized. His robot arms are linked up to and directly controlled by his brain's signals. He was told that the country had gone and the princess and the king disappeared, and he discovered that his mechanized body is very powerful. He was also told he was 'last of the series'.
Jumbor went back to where he had been and discovered that the people were living in a nightmare, where the construction team was the absolute power and the general public have no say against anything. Jumbor stopped the destruction of a street of poor people's house only to be scolded by the people -- they dare not do anything against the will of their 'owners'. He was shocked and went into a bar (which greeted him with milk) and discovered one of his old teammates (now working for the new boss) in the bar. He looked at the disappointed and despondent teammate and realized that he must not cry over spilled milk but had to act like a responsible leader, leading people out of misery, and rebuilt the happy kingdom where people's wish and welfare were taken care of -- where people make roads for themselves, not others -- it's only in this environment that the proverb "The road we are to take is constructed by our own hands" becomes a meaningful sentence in the aspect of life.
In the new boss' kingdom, people are called by shortnames, and people's full names were never used [This somehow reminds me of "Spirited Away" by Miyazaki.] and people do not seem interested in knowing each other because all are just 'tools of the boss'.
Jumbor then protected his teammate who insisted his love with Jumbor even when pointed with a big gun as he was forced to tell the boss about the 'powerful kid that destroyed a branch of the construction team single-handedly' and proceeded to use his mechanized body to disassemble the boss' big all-in-one construction machine in no time. He was then greeted by the lab assistant which had taken care of Jumbor's rebirth process all these 5 years – she was actually the princess of the lost kingdom, just grown up after 5 years.
