I don't know what you mean by "will the router reach other people". It doesn't work that way…
I bought a good wireless D-Link router, my internet speed is exactly the same as the computer connected directly to the internet.

doesn't a router just connect computers in the same building. You can't connect to someone in japan with a router. Isn't that what a modem is for? which you obviosly have, if you are typing on here?

          maybe I'm missing something?

He probably means a wireless router, you should get the Dlink 4300 gaming router, its a little pricey but worth it about 125 dollars only online though, never seen it in stores.

isn't a router a router? just like a fork and a knife. they both serve different functions?

                  What? A fork isn't a knife. XD

No, there are some routers that are better than others. I had a really crappy router, I had to replace it. If you don't want to spend $125 on a router, a D-Link DI-624 is one of the best wireless ones you can get for $40-$50.

ok, but you didn't read that question, in context with the rest of the conversation. never mind….I hate explaining myself more than once....

I think I see what you're asking, you think maybe what he wants is a modem rather than a router.
I'm rather puzzled myself, but he never explained himself, so it's hard to help.

yes. yes. that's what I am saying. they are 2 different things, and from that definition, I would think he wants a modem, unless there is something I don't know about routers. (maybe I don't. I'm not a genios) which is why I'm asking in the first place.

though, you think if he wants an answer, he would come back and clarify?
