It's been like a year or 2 since I've had anything to really do with OP but I'm bored now so I figured I'd catch up.
Last thing I remember was Sanji hopping on that water train to find Robin.
anyone know around what chapter that was in?

Sounds like it's around Chapter 362, "Ebb Tide," during which Sanji fights Cipher Pol's own Jerry. The "Bingo" moment is in 359, Sanji hops the train two chapters later, etc.
Is there anything else you remember that might pinpoint the area?
one year and they are only that far? lol
Yeah, its funny, goes to show you how many weeks are truly in a year.
52 weeks… so 52 episodes a year... Wow, and that's not even counting the rapidly changing schedule.
Holy crap... I sometimes watch entire arcs in one night, not even realizing year long production!
That's the funny thing about a series like One Piece. Things seem so slow when you're reading them week by week but tend to be paced rather well when you reread in retrospect. ^^;
I know I always tohught it was halarious that in a day I'd watch a few episodes. Thinking about it later you realize that you watched a weeks worth of work, people are payed to make this, and they get a little 25 minute thing done in about a week, and the really freaky part is realziing thigns like the Davy Back Fight took TOEI months of work to finish. And you just watched months of work of the fast-paced animation/movie/media whatever industry in a short amount of time.

And don't forget that they don't always air a new episode every week, even when they AREN'T 30 chapters behind the manga and catching up. And even the manga takes a break sometimes.
I still think the manga and show move too slow. They should put 3 manga in an episode of the show, or pack more into the manga. A lot of flabbin' in the stories since perhaps Alsabastard, and even before but it got truly drawn out and lazy around Skypeia where Oda was probably looking for a good excuse to slow down and try to figure out what might work as a story.
You can easily have a ONE PIECE week once a year and wallow in the year's manga and anime, catch up and then forget it for another year. Water 7 has been going for two years now, maybe more.
In that case, it's no surprise the series has continued for 10 years and still have be seriously lacking the right amount of arcs to constitute. Sometimes, I view the One Piece Arc Wiki, amazed how a series with such little amounts of storylines can still be contunied for so long.
The most important arcs to me are Arlong, Arabasta, Davy Back, Skypiea, and Water 7. I mean… there have only been maybe 50 to 60 W7 episodes, and that's been going on for 2 years!
So... if we give each arc 2 years each, we get 10 years... Wow, and that's not even counting all the filler arcs.
i was watching 285 with my sister a week or 2 ago and it was really really slow… like... embeded filler or something :wassat: took out the funny from some parts :<
but if we didnt have fillers like the ones in alabasta etc or the streeeetching of time like here we would get naruto fillers and 1 million people coming to ask " is it done yet? no it isnt... is it done yet? ...nope.." i dont like those but... i was watching my 12 year old sisters face while watching it and she was.... bored
but reading the manga i feel everything has enough time and is played out fast and smooth :D
Even if it is only chapter 438 almost that we're at, thats still alot of chapters if you ask me!

Goddamn do I envy you.
To read the EL arc in its entirety as something new….
Holy testicle Tuesday...
