Haha, it worked! Cmon, Higgs Boson, let's see it happen by the end of the year.
We are all going to die!

Dammit… I'm alive.

@Fire Fist:

You know there's no guarantee it will be there. It'd be awesome if it was but…
-
So, where are we building the Super Large Hadron Collider? On the moon mayhaps?
-
no. the next thing we're building is the international linear collider.
http://www.linearcollider.org/cms/
although the host nation for that has yet to be decided.
-
This only reaffirms my theory that everything is the Swiss's fault.
From bad cheese to the tuba. And now they're gonna end the world><
Fuck you. Fuck you to hell.

Y2K 8: Apocalypse not now Redux.
-
I heard they are hoping to build it here in Russia to near where I live (LLH I mean)
I`m moving XD -
Read a little of it on Yahoo, (was in school, so couldn't read the whole thing), but I heard it was a success, but I still don't want those bastards using that crap, when will humans learn….......! I hope they don't go building this sh*t all over the world now!
-
My biology teacher was talking about it today. I had heard about it, but I didn't know the details. I learned how, apparently, this morning they released a single proton at super high speed, but at the end of October they'll release TWO protons at super high speed, which will either reenact the big bang or create a black hole and destroy the Earth.
If any of you are wondering what it's like to be sucked into a black hole, according to Steven Hawking anyway, you wouldn't really notice anything for the first couple seconds. That is until you were crushed into spaghetti.
I imagine it would be pretty instantaneous though. Probably wouldn't feel anything. Maybe a slight pressure.
Anyway, if this is how we go out, I'd much prefer this rather than being wiped out by an alien race or something. If it was the latter than the universe would say "Poor humans. Just an evolutionary inferior race." But if it was the former then the universe would say "Damn! These guys were f*ckin' crazy!"
-
Well it's a fact that black holes will be created at the colliding the only difference is that one german scientist think he have the mathematic proof that the microscopic black hole will be stable (not unstable like hawkin stated) and because the 2 particles will be colliding at the same speed there will be no moving force thus the black hole will be sucked by the earth gravity to the core and there it will be consume material. IF (!) this would happen the black hole need millions of years maybe billions to consume the earth. I readed the contrary and it was all disproved by those LHC scientist (google it for more information). Don't know if some one already summarized like I did (pardon in advance).
Well my opinion is it's it's just purposeful intend to strike fear at us and if it's true then it would be late anyway. -
Blackholes, in fact, self-destruct. The blackhole of 1000 tonns do it in 13 seconds, thought it exploads. EVEN IF there would be any (which is probably NOT) it will dissapear and go just -POOF-.
So uuuuuuugh, bullshit >_<
I seen a rather funny old professor guy on the TV yesteday who couldn`t speak because he was laughing so much when reporters asked him about blackholes. XD
It all looks nothing but a mass-media speculation to me now :/ -

its not as if there isn't a black hole lurking somewhere in space ready to kill us all anyways….
-

And the Stephen Hawking reference was from a documentary I saw a while back, completely unrelated to this, where he was talking about the black holes you find in space.
As far as how I fee about this: I'm really not going to worry about it. Everyone thought the Y2K bug would be the end of the world and nothing happened. Plus, it's pretty much out of my hands. I don't think they would do this unless they were pretty damn sure that nothing harmful would happen. Of course, they're going to have to have a damn good reason to halt a multi-billion dollar project.
-

I don't know what you mean by this but i say one thing: everything that relates to something in the universe it also to that in every way, that's the beautiful thing about science everything you measuring in lab can be observed in the universe thus reflect on everything.

you retarded ass, can you go back watching pokemon and reading naruto for the next 20 years before coming back here and insulting scientists 20000000 times smarter than you?
-
I don't know all the details on this but I've spoken to a few friends and colleagues about it. So far so good I guess but I'm still worried that they may create a bloody black hole in the middle of the Earth and then that's goodbye for us. I guess we'll have to see if they can get some results with this without blowing up the Earth. If they do!, that would be quite amazing.
-

Well my opinion is it's it's just purposeful intend to strike fear at us and if it's true then it would be late anyway.I've heard of something like this, but I think thats farfetched, since everything on Earth is matter, and in that case, even when it is very small, it grows big much more quickly then what you said. Basically, every single time the black hole sucks something in (it obviously starts w/ the smallest of debri, or whatever, it double it's size, every single time it sucks in something half its size, or something like that). Sure it will take a long time, but not probably as much as a million, or whatever
-
Clearly all this black hole stuff isn't as probable as we're making it out to be, if it was would they honestly be allowed to do it? Those scientists would be like the most powerful terrorists ever born. Of course, we humans have the nature to keep pushing things to see just how much higher they can go… then we go boom...
looks at thread title then looks at date ...ah.
-
My dad made a bet, that if the world doesnt end in 2012 then he will buy me a xbox360.
but if he won, well then we would all be dead and stuff.
-
Can someone please tell me why we want to Re-enact The Big Bang anyway?
-
uhm.
to prove the whole world WRONG and kill everyone.
then they will learn! THEY WILL LEARN! SHAKES FIST VIOLENTLY
-
Can someone please tell me why we want to Re-enact The Big Bang anyway?
Ahh..ok i get it now..all this is ta prove that the big bang happen…
-

For scientists it's curiosity, for entrepreneurs it's potential for industry. For me…it's a step toward space colonization. It's my life dream to see humans set out into space, I want to see that happen before I die.

I knew i wasnt the only, i want to to be abe to go to space before i die too

you people are victims of media coverage. there was never an intention to CREATE a bloody black hole on earth. the physicists said that they have ENOUGH ENERGY to create a blackhole, but that doesn't mean they're creating a blackhole. the media misinterpreted that and freak everyone out.
regarding earth blowing up because of this, read the following:
-
Oh yeah. I totally forgot this thing. So this is what afterlife feels like…
That was actually a very good comic! I suspect it wasn't made by you, e1n.
-
PhD comics are quite famous, many grad students even out of the hard sciences have at least heard about them. The only comic I read that was more entertaining was this one my organic chemistry teacher put on the cover of exams. Can't remember the name for the life of me though.
-
Some girl in India committed suicide over this. Some people just can't wait for the apocalypse.
-
Coolz. It appears I have a new comic to read. I'm not a grad student or anything, and I live on the wrong continent anyway, so neat stuff like this often manages to slip by me. Thanks.

yos, also check out www.xkcd.com

The world will end when:
! luffy and the crew find the legendary one piece
then it will end. no spoilers to the manga or anime for the record.
-
I get so annoyed when I hear all this crap about the world ending in 2012 because of the Mayan calendar
And the one about when the poles shift, wouldnt everything have died last time if that truly was the case. They have shifted before if I'm thinking correctly.
And Planet X is not going to crash into earth.
People should try being a little more optomistic. Don't be ruled by fear O.o
All these theories are just going to crate chaos and panic, we don't even need to think about them -
The world will end when it wants too.
Till then i'll enjoy my life, not worry about something I cant even change anyhow.
-
Yo, so I heard this ten billion dollar project concocted by ten thousand of the best scientists on the planet was broken in less than a week. Is this true?
-

Yahahahahahahahahaha!
If that's true, then it's a hilarious waste of money.
But I don't think that's true.

Yep, they have to rework everything.

Whew, two more months of One Piece spoilers.

I just find it lulzy that it's broken already
