Okay, my curiosity has been sparked. O' British posters, what's the deal with this guy?

I'm assuming you're talking about this guy…
_The mystery man was unable to communicate with police or carers after he was found in a street in Sheerness in a rain-soaked suit.
When staff at the Medway Maritime Hospital gave him a pen and paper in the hope he would write his name, he drew a grand piano.
His carers then put him in front of an instrument in the hospital chapel and he stunned them with a virtuoso classical performance._
_He has also composed music since he was found.
Social worker Michael Camp said the man, who is in his 20s or 30s, is usually very anxious but "comes alive" when he plays.
On Tuesday, a Polish street mime artist approached police in Rome saying he had worked with the man in Nice.
Social workers are working through a list of at least 300 other names.
The National Missing Persons Helpline has received more than 520 calls and more than 100 e-mails.
The trust has been approached by people from Australia, Canada, Sweden, Holland, Italy and France.
"(He) continues to be cared for by the trust, and there has been no change in his condition," a spokesman said.
The man has not said a word since police found him on 7 April. All the labels had been removed from every item of his clothing.
The case has drawn comparisons with the 1996 film Shine which depicts the story of acclaimed pianist David Helfgott who suffered a nervous breakdown.
Anyone who has information about The Piano Man is urged to call the helpline on 0500 700700.
People calling from outside the UK can reach the Missing Persons Helpline on +44 20 8392 4545. People calling from the Irish Republic should dial 00 800 7000 7001._
I hope that helps…

That's bizarre. Wow.
Do you have a link to the article? -
How terribly interesting.
-
yeah i saw it on tv a few days ago, it's damn incredible!
human beings are all so interesting. but i don't know at all who this guy could be, and what impress me is that nobody's looking for him. if he'd escape from an asylum, they'd already have made an announce to find him…
i hope we'll find from where he comes soon
-
from right nowill tell u its a hoax
i no they say its not but some people can act that good -
Hoax my ass. Doctors know how to make a person talk.
This is terribly interesting, though.

But why?
And virtuoso classical piano performances are pretty hard to act… -
I think he means the guy's putting us on. Like he's only pretending to be all messed up, and is really a con artist.

maybe did he ate the piano piano no mi
-
I found this all pretty stupid. The rag tabloids had a field day, too…
Some mainstream English newspaper donated an electronic keyboard to the Mental Hospital that was holding him, then, they discovered that he may possibly be a French street performer. I don't know what else has happened since that, but, the politics became a little too boring.
French. Probably. Street Performer.
I think that's about all I need to say, on the Piano Man. To me, he portrays a crazed stalker, with a possible bladder dysfunction. Those mad, staring eyes are just too much to behold.
-
the virtuosso piano playing isnt a hoax but the crazy part is…hes acting crazy to get attention and when he makes a "full recovery" (they said he is making progress) he will probably an extremely famous piano player known to the whole world since everyone is talking about it. and when he is a little older he will comit suicide from all the guilt of fooling the world.

You are so, so poetic… that line was somehow, at almost 3am, spellbinding.

I just got this weird feeling inside! Like.. honestly. - I could imagine a movie, or a novella or something. With that as the closing line, or the trailer.
"A man who took his own life, for the guilt of fooling the world. PIANO MAN."
Coming Soon…
-
It'll be pretty decent..
I can imagine the same wierdish yellowish darkish sky with a guy sitting on the road with a bottle of wine with the background music going on, with the title infront.
"Created by the directors of Million Dollar Baby presents…"
"PIANOMAN" .. next thing you know, it's like a young Beethoven movie.
-
The first time i heard it i thought "no matter how it ends, somebody will do a movie"
-
I'd watch it.

**Does anyone remember that crappy movie from the late eighties/early nineties, Young Einstein!, with some unknown actor called Yahoo Serious? - I can't even confirm the title, but look it up on IMDB.
Fkin' A.**

with some unknown actor called Yahoo Serious?
Dude he was pretty big in some circles. Yeah, I saw that movie in theaters because it had a Tazmanian Devil in the trailer.

**I've only ever seen, like, two movies with his face on the cover. One involved something like a Cuckoo Clock, as I recall.
Then again, maybe he's pretty big in some circles. Just.. under a different name, or something.
-
He was most famous as a Director as I recall. But I mean this is really reaching back in my memory. He wasn't even big in the states. He was Australian.
-
Yeah I saw Young Einstein. They used to air it a lot on Comedy Central years and years ago, before South Park.
-
im gonna make a thread about who thinks it is real or a hoax

MORE NEWS ON PIANO MAN.
His name is Tomas Strnad, and he played keyboards in a band in the Czech Republic. His former bandmate, Klaudius Kryspin, who now plays drums in the country's top rock act, Prazsky Vyber, confirmed that it was him, calling him "A little strange", in the process.
Klaudius Kryspin's twin brother, Richard, who is an IT Worker in Columbus, Ohio, said, "Wow, this is an old friend of mine!"
Besides that, the Police and Social Services have recieved information from more than a thousand people confirming Piano Man's identity.
That's totally bogus. I thought the story would be more exciting than this, really. But Minhawk, I kind of think it could be a hoax, too. Although it is widely reported news within the British newspapers.
Then again, British newspapers are always full of bullshit, sometimes.
-
its probably true that they recognized him but have no fear oi sanji yet another theory to add on to the last has come…those who recognized him are either in on it or didnt no that he set this up. butthe fact that he played in a band before increases his chance of being a con. he played in a band then broke off trying to go solo being the next elton john, failed so now he is trying to get some recognition to become famous like this. it did say he knew not only classical but also rock tunes (from his band before) so he probably is doing this so he can get famous like i said before.
-
A whole bunch of people have identified him. And a whole bunch of people have been phonies.
Last I heard he was identified as a street performer - by a French mime - but this was disproved. -
ok, it's over. piano man was a fake. it's a german who was about to try and commit suicide when he was found by the police and decided not to talk at all.
he doesn't know how to play the piano.
the newspaper article i just read made a particular effort to repeat a lot of times that the guy was gay. i say: "what does it change, dammit!?"
PS: i don't want to post a link, the article was in french.

There's an English version.
-
Aw. Stupid fraud.
Why'd he draw a piano? -
he doesn't know how to play the piano.
The hell? Did the hospital just blatantly lie about his ability?
-
That is the most idiotic thing I have ever heard!
-
The Daily Mirror reported that his status as a virtuoso had also been exaggerated. Staff insisted he was nonetheless able to perform as they had described.
It was reported that health and social workers said they were "stunned" when he proceeded to give them a virtuoso performance.
However, newspaper reports now suggest he was only able to play one note continuously. But he has now admitted that he does not play the piano very well and only drew one because it was the first object that came to mind.

Maybe it shocked the hospital workers at first time when he played piano, but when the commotion calms down, it's just another normal piano player. (like you go to a restaurant for the first time, you think whoa, it's really good! but afterwards you find out it's just an average.)
We just love dramas~.
Aw. Stupid fraud.
Why'd he draw a piano? It's the first thing in his mind that popped up.
