…and this gentlemen is one of the many reasons why I freaking dislike the Ultimate series-
-
Just finished the Amazing Friends arc of Ultimate Spider-Man and eventhough I don't like the turn the art has taken and how the last few arcs reached their climax it's really been good.
-
Finished reading today's issue of Captain America for the seventh time just now. God, it's such a great book.
Mighty Avengers was nice too. Interesting surprise at the end.
-
Damn-
Avengers Initiative 13 was EXCELLENT; I read it half a dozen times already, best issue yet. Plus it had Taskmaster and Constrictor so I liked it more. Hope we get to see more of Boulder in the future :D
Hercules 117….! Team does not impress me and Cho is starting to be an ass. Seriously of all the Japanese mythological people, you pick the guy who was gonna fuck up Olympus? Why couldn't they use someone like Susano or such?
…and Athena had better not be a Skrull cuz that'd be fucking lame
Oh and I wonder if we already know who 'He' is…. -
I enjoyed the new Initiative. Granted I do miss the old characters (though it's great to see Prodigy) but I really liked the idea. I also enjoyed the new Hercules but I do feel the team is a bit…. Blah. And I agree with what Freeman-12 said at the end.
As for Mighty Avengers
! it looks like the Sentry isn't a Skrull, which is great. I saw a number of "I hope the Sentry is a Skrull so they can retcon him out of the Marvel universe" which had me worried that they may actually do so. I realise I'm probably alone when I say this but The Sentry is a MUCH better and more interesting hero than Superman. I find "Uber powerful guy with mental issues" far more interesting than "Uber powerful alien guy who's weak against rocks" (and I realise I've probably said that before in this thread). Back on the comic, I liked how it ended and interested in seeing where this angle is taken.
-
Sentry haters…........ why is it these dipshits think no one should be a hero in the Marvel Universe unless, personality-wise, they're carbon-copies of the Hulk? Just emotionless brutes who do nothing but cause more dumb eye-candy.
I'll drop my Marvel badge if Sentry becomes a Hulk clone. I like him being an insane, mentally-screwed hero.
-
I don't have alot of money to purchase comics. Is there a place to read american comics online like manga?
-
A few, but most of them aren't very good. Your best bet is to download them through torrrents and such.
But these scanned comics come in special program called CBR. You'll need the program of the same name to view them.
Download the program here

My thoughts exactly. I've already stated I find him far more interesting than Superman, and while I realise the concept may not be 100% original (forgotten heroes and heroes with mental problems have been done before, or so I'm told), I think it works well for him. To me the people who call him the "Jar Jar Binks" of Marvel haven't given the character a chance. I feel people need to read "Marvel Knights - The Sentry" and "The Sentry: Reborn" to understand how the character works (though if people still don't like him after that, that's fine by me. Everyone is different).
-
I like the Sentry but he really doesn't come close to Superman. I get a bad taste in my mouth seeing the Sentry after reading a Superman comic.
What was great this week….Cap, of course. IM, Ghost Rider, Herc, and X-Factor were also cool.
-
Buc are the 90's Ghost rider any good? I wanted to read Ghost rider so i was wondering what were your thoughts on that.
-
IIRC Ghost Rider Vol. 2 and 3 were good (they were prob. released in the 90s)
The current Ghost Rider series, Vol. 4 (or was it 5?) is VERY good as well, recent 2 issues kicked all kinds of ass.Just read Wolverine Origins 25 and….mostly dissapointed....but it was cool that DP made a jackass out of Daken.
-
X-Men 211-
! Gambit joins Xavier on his soul search. Apparently Xavier, Jugheadnaut, Shaw and the guy Xavier visited at the hospital are all connected since their youth and are now marked for death. We also get some action this issue as well
Uncanny 498-
! Logan does what he does best at the foolish Russian militia who thought torturing Logan was a smart idea.
Oh and Omega Red's back baby! -
just read new avengers 41.
! i fucking know either shanna or ka-zar are going to be skrulls. putting us through all this guessing game crap is already annoying. about the only real interesting thing about all this is that apparently there is a skrull in the new avengers(not like anyone couldnt guess that already)
-
@DougyDougyGiro!*:
Buc are the 90's Ghost rider any good? I wanted to read Ghost rider so i was wondering what were your thoughts on that.
Honestly I didn't catch much of it and the bits I did were cameoed by guys like the Punisher or bought mainly for the Tex art. But I can tell you for sure that it was better than SuperPro.
-
Thor #9 was great, Loki's back to her old tricks again. Seriously this book is more drama with some action, but overall great as a return for Thor and the people of Asgard.
BTW I'd def. tap dat ass. -
I thought Loki was a dude?
-
Until recently, he was.
-
Loki has been reborn as a woman, a very good improvement IMO.
BTW-
^SEXY!So read some stuff today-
Power Pack Day One #3- VERY GOOD issue, real loved reading it, plus it had intents of killing so a big plus to that.
King-sized Red Hulk- Nice stories and some action, poor She-Hulk, Red Hulk made a complete wuss of her >D Oh and Red Hulk killed Bambi, so a major plus there.
Started reading Fables ATM and its good so far.
-
DeadPool is rumored to appear in Marvel Zombies Vol. 3. Hope it is true.
-
Forget that cameo, his relaunched series better live up to its predessesor.
-
I came here to kick-ass and chew bubble-gum… and I'm all out of gum.
SI3 Spoilers
!
-
Anyone here a fan of the Wildstorm Universe? I'm rather interested in it now.
-
Read some stuff today. This month's Jonah Hex wasn't all that good IMO and I didn't like the art.
Still-
Young X-Men #3-! So Sunspot is now with the Hellfire Club and it seems that Cannonballs is as well. Wolfcub manages to subdue Magma which is strange seeing as his hand should've least been burned to crisp. Dust gets turned to glass by Magma and the gang is trying to fix her up. Blindfold and Dani are sent to Pierce, who right now makes me wonder WHO Cyclops really is. We get to see Graymalkin in this issue who pretty much spews nonsense and is kinda freaking me out. Santo was awesome in this issue as usual too.
SI3-
! The Skrulls are fucking shit up just about EVERYWHERE. The Queen is messing with Tony's head, but I do hope Echo is still alive. The ending was awesome tho; NICK FURY IN THE HOUSE BEEOTCH!
Nova #14-
! Nova manages to convince Galactus to pause his consumption of the planet. The spaceships manage to take off but Nova had to stay and defeat the possessing spirit. In doing so however, he was left on the planet near full destruction un-able to escape Galactus' energy thingy. Good issue tho, Surfer vs. Nova was good.
Invincible IronMan #2-
! Good issue, Stane seems to have a split personality. MODOG was defeated quickly, but I don't care much. Stane's technological advancement for 'warfare' are really driving Tony nuts. While at a party, he meets up with Stane (but he doesn't know him of course). Later suicidal psychos come in and blow up the place.
BTW Young X-Men is getting better with every issue :D
-
@Freeman-12:
Anyone here a fan of the Wildstorm Universe? I'm rather interested in it now.
Wildstorm is quite awesome
Planetary and Authority fuck yeah
-
I'll give Planetary a read, and plan to read Authority Eventually :)
I finished reading Astonishing X-Men today;
! Joss Whedon really needs to stop with these continuous plot-twists.
The series started out GREAT but after the Cassandra Nova arc…I dunno I liked it less and less, but it was entertaining. I hope they kill off Brand someday cuz she is fucking lame.Seeing as the series continues, is Joss Whedon still on the series or was Giant-size his last run on the series?
-
Fantastic Four SI Tie in #2 was…sadly nothing interesting seemed to happen in it, but the last issue looks pretty interesting from what happens at the end of #2.
Herc 118 on the other hand was KICKASS!
! OK seriously, the HercxSnowbird thing NEEDS TO GO. …and WTF is up with the Pup in Tow?! IS IT A SKRULL?!?! COULD IT BE LOKI'S SPY?!
Mikaboshi was badass in this ish. I love his sarcastic/mocking natureEDIT: Oh and WHO IN THEIR FUCKING RIGHT MIND WOULD GET GREG LAND TO DO A COVER FOR UNCANNY 500?!?! The Alex Ross one is…meh enough, but seriously Greg Land
-
My favorite portion of the American comic industry isn't so much the superhero portion. Although I will read Fantastic Four and some DC comics every now and then. Green Arrow's my favorite of the DC's for some reason. I don't know why
-
Read TF Spotlights Wheelie and Cyclonus-
! Wheelie-
Well I don't know if he is a kid or just a short Autobot, but it was an OK issue, I guess u learn where he got the whole rhyming thing in this one :P Also it seems that the planet he is on has some connection to Unicron.
! Cyclonus-
Umm kinda skimmed thru it really, but I'm guessing Cyclonus is REALLY old, since he seems disappointed as to what has happened to Cybertron over the millenias. He attacks some autbots and then goes to some cavern, activates something, fights the Autobots again and then leaves to space.
! The issue ends with the appearance of some Cybertronians/TFs that I do not seem to know. -
Final Crisis 2
Fucking Yes
and
With blood and rage of crimson red
Ripped from a corpse so freshly dead
Together With our Hellish Hate
We'll burn you all, that is you fate! -
So that's their oath huh? Sounds pretty cool.
Anyway, getting more stuff now, but SI related-Ms. Marvel #28 was awesome
! An all action issue of Carol slaughtering Skrulls and ENJOYING it. Sadly she gets off focus when they morph into civilians but Carol manages to beat them. Giant Skrull ends this issue by attacking her
New Avengers #42
! OK so I think I'm totally mindfucked by this but let me see if I get this straight-
Post Secret War, when Fury tells Jessica to agree with HYDRA's offer, she gets replaced with the Skrull Queen and from there it was all planning 'til what's happened to date. BTW I take it it was the Skrulls who asked Electro to attack the prison right? -
Read some more stuff-
Red Hulk #4-! Loeb wants us to think that Samson is the Red Hulk, but I think he's pulling a LOST. Fight was OK, Thor appears at the end and next time its Red Hulk vs. Thor
Mighty Avengers 15-
! Yeah I'm kinda confused, but Hank gets replaced with a Skrull and seems to have been that way since before or pre-Civil War.
Next time we get a look at Elektra.BTW I have a theory that the Skrulls need some of the people they've shifted into to be alive in order to make use of their memories and behaviors and such.
Young Avengers Presents: Hawkeye-
Didn't like the story, but Kate was as badass as always.Uncanny X-Men 499-
! Great issue, Nightcrawler cripples Omega Red despite how hard Logan and Piotr tried to take him down. Cyke and Emma beat Mastermind, and later Mastermind meets someone who tells her that it is time for the Sisterhood of Mutants to rise.
OH NOES!!!
Oh and Cyke makes a deal with the Mayor of San Fran.Oh and I hate Whedon for having delayed Runaways 30 since I need to read it before YA & R SI Tie-in #1.
-
X-Men 213; WTF?!?
! So Sinister leaves part of his genetic code in Xavier, Jugheadnaut, Shaw and the guy Xavier met at the hospital along with some woman whose mutant power is immortality.
There is a device that cycles which one the code will awaken in, and whomever it awakens in, Sinister will be revived.
Xavier did the dumbest thing and let Sinister wake up in him, so stupid -
The Evil Illuminati/Illuminaughty rollcall-
Dr. Doom, The Hood, Loki, Emma Frost (wtf?!), Namor (eh ain't taking it anymore bitches!) and some random dude or another.
So how many of these do you think are Skrulls?Oh and I did not understand a single thing of this month's Batman issue-

SANTA MONICA, Calif. - Michael Turner, a comic book artist who drew covers for major titles such as "Superman/Batman," "The Flash" and "Civil War,'" has died. He was 37.
Turner died June 27 at a Santa Monica hospital of complications related to cancer, said Vince Hernandez, editor in chief of Aspen MLT, the Santa Monica publishing company Turner founded in 2003. Turner had battled bone cancer for eight years.
Through his company, Turner created online comic adaptations for the NBC series "Heroes" and published his own titles, including the best-selling "Fathom," a deep-sea story about a female superhero.
He also drew covers for large projects such as DC Comics' "Justice League" and Marvel's "Civil War" and was a regular cover artist for "Superman/Batman" and "The Flash."
"He was definitely one of the most popular and influential comic-book artists working right now," said Andrew Farago, curator of San Francisco's Cartoon Art Museum. "He was very, very much in demand as a cover artist on high-profile projects."
Ryan Liebowitz, general manager of the Golden Apple Comics store in Los Angeles, said Turner's name was synonymous with special-edition covers that often became collectibles. The milestone 500th issue of "Uncanny X-Men," due out next week, will feature a special-edition cover by Turner.
Turner was also known for drawing female comic book characters that evoked both innocence and sex appeal and exuded energy.
In 1994, the budding artist was hired by Century City-based Top Cow Productions after an editor saw his work at the Comic-Con convention in San Diego.
At Top Cow, Turner co-created "Witchblade," a comic about a voluptuous female detective who fights evil after discovering a mystical glove. The comic went on to make Top Cow's name and set the standard for Turner's future work.Credit to Yahoo.com

Oh yeah that's kinda old news, he will be missed :(
I hope I'll be able to find Turner's #500 cover variant. I wouldn't touch Ross' nor Greg Land's covers even with a stick. -
Just read the first All-Star Batman & Robin The Boy Wonder graphic novel. Incredible! While the dialogue is a little weak at first it improves incredibly and I cannot wait to see where the story goes.
"Damn you and your lemonade!"

Grant Morrison on FC2
http://www.newsarama.com/comics/080721-MorrisonFC02.html
my god my freaking god
Superman Beyond is also where we find out what the ‘red skies’ really mean, and how it all ties in to Warren Ellis’ ideas about ‘The Bleed’ space between universes as well as the origins of the Carrier from The Authority, and the horrifying secret origin of the Monitors. I don’t really think readers have grasped the scale of Final Crisis yet but it should start to become clearer by the time Superman Beyond and the other ‘skip month’ books come out. Sonny Sumo, who by all rights, went back in time and lived and died in feudal Japan is suddenly running around with a Shilo Norman, who doesn’t remember being Scott Free’s apprentice. What gives? Well, read on…
-
Some fans are discussing how Hank Pym's pimp hand is gonna save Earth from the Invasion.
-
Vulcan will later appear in a new crossover series titled 'Who will rule?'
So far only Vulcan and Guardians of the Galaxy are confirmed in it. -
X-Men 214; HOLY SHIT!
! An awesome issue, I never knew Sinister had super strength tho.
So anyway Sinister tries to eliminate Xavier from his psyche, but Xavier manages to beat him and exert him from his body. Xavier tells Gambit that he wants to talk to Scott making way for a new arc.
Issue ends with Shaw speaking with…Miss Sinister! -

I don't follow Flash, but you could check in here-
http://en.dcdatabaseproject.com/Main_Page
For quick summaries on what happened in previous issues. -
I have been reading some couple of comics lately, but to be more exact, most of the are about the War Games, The Outsiders, and some Spider-Man (to be exact, Ultimate and Amazing Spider-Man)
Speaking of Amazing Spider-Man, does anyone know any websites where I could read them (but mainly form 1-113, since I feel like reading those ones, especially)
-
You want to read the old issues from the 60s?
BTW, DC are gonna make a DMC and Resident Evil comic series-
