If I'm not mistaken he can't warp or teleport himself otherwise he would've did that when he wanted to board the ship rather than use that jet instead.

To be honest I don't know, if the ship had sunk that would've been the answer right there, generally Alucard just doesn't seem to suffer from the traditional weaknesses of ordinary vampires i.e. sunlight (though this is just a guess)

Alucard is unaffected by Sunlight because of how strong he is (IE, if a vampire becomes strong enough, he can be out in the sunlight without dying)
However, most if not all of the other vampire lore applies to him. He couldn't just phase out to the Eagle because first, he can't really teleport, only phase through walls and the like, and there is a body of water between England and the Ship. They don't touch upon this until Volume 8, but Alucard has his coffin on board the SR-71 as he's flying out there, that's how he's able to cross the water, that's how any vampire can cross water. Normally, said vampire needs to be IN their coffin, but this is another situation where Alucard can slightly bend the rules because he's so strong, he still needs his coffin with him, but he doesn't need to be in it to cross the water.

I guess it takes so long for the OVA's to come out because they are basically "movies". I mean, they are and hour long, and done with an obscenely high budget.
Anyway, I just watched the 4th OVA. As spectacular as it was I now seem to be out of Hellsing to watch :( And RIP VAN WINKLE.. I didn't want her to die

That's a horrible hypothesis..
The anime is already 1,000 archs ahead of the OVA's. And one VOLUME a month, as opposed to one HOUR a year? It's not even close, right? Isn't the manga moving about 12 times the speed of the OVAs?

The last time I read Hellsing was back in January the chapter that was supposed to follow after that was due on the 27th of February and the
(don't know if if was ever scanslated) and the Dawn don't get me started on that.And out of curiousity why do you put h's in Arc(s).

I assumed that the Manga was out of the "Natzi" arch already, and into something new. Probably because I had heard about Hellsing atleast 6 years ago, and only recently have gotten into it. So I assumed that if the manga had been going at a steady pace, then it should be leagues ahead. Especially since the anime went a completely different route, and it's only now being done properly..

The last chapter was 90 and Hellsing pretty much falls into one arc following Jan & Luc's attack on Hellsing.

I jumped ship when we got into Alucard's "Err, guys, let's finish the apocalypse before you deal with your feelings" nervous breakdown. That was, for me, the final bounced sanity check for the series.
I liked the art though…. it makes me wish I could find a reason to put up with the story. :)
