I feel like I have some sort of diabetes, and we're going to the doctor on Monday to check it out, but I was just wondering if you guys might know by any chance.
Whenever I run for at least more than 30 seconds, my mouth goes dry. Completely. And I've been taking a whiz every 20 minutes or so. It's really irritating, and it seems whatever I drink, I'm not satisfied. I try drinking a lot of water, and I get full but still have a dry mouth, or a very weird feeling that is.
In fact, I just drank a full glass of lemonade, and I'm not sure if I really enjoyed it or not.
Anyone know what I have?

Maybe you're just not used to do excercise. I still remember when I was little and my mouth got all dried off for running a bit and I temporary lost the sence of taste while drinking stuff like juices…
I think the taste that was left in my mouth was acid-like, but I dunno if that's the weird feeling you're having...
Anyways, do you happen to have any familiar with diabetes?

I dunno if that's it, because I had basketball practice a week before this happened and I was in shape, and then the next week it was when it started acting up, and this dry mouth was more intense than I had any other practice. I was SO thankful that was our last practice…
And I think you mean do I have anyone fimiliar with diabetes (?) If so, I really don't know. I've told some people about what's going on and they didn't have a clue.Oh, and waking up in the morning sucks. Both legs are cramping, and the mouth is dry. I fix the cramping by exercising them when I feel the pain coming, and then I go to drink some water. I should get some bananas…
And the drinking problem is still at large (haha, I sound like a drunk). I drank a lot of lemonade, some pop, and some milk, but not all at the same time. And I did notice one thing, Chocolate milk seems to fill me pretty good and I feel fine.
Too bad I need to go to the store to get more... -
Maybe you should just go to see a doctor. If you had been feeling like that for weeks already, then you may consider other options besides just having diabetes. Diabetes is not something that just pops up from nowhere, and if you don't have any relatives with diabetes, then yeah, it may be something else.
-
All of those symptoms are pretty clear signs of diabetes.
Basically, your blood sugar level is way too high, and your body is trying to expel as much of it as possible.
-
if you suspect that you have diabetes why are you drinking pop and lemonade? doesn't that contain a lot of sugar?

Yeah I realized that today, but I can't really say if it's diabetes. And the lemonade has been watered-down, since the lemon taste was getting strong…
But for now I'll just drink Chocolate milk. I don't feel sick after drinking that. -
Is not Chocolate Milk far worse than Lemonade for a person with diabetes?…...
-
That is, IF the man has diabetes… and I truly don't know if I have it or not.
-
Well, I hope you don't have it. Having diabetes must really suck.
So, if anything, at least tell us the results after you get a check up.
-
Huh, just found out something interesting…
I hadn't weighed myself for a week, so I went ahead and did so, and I'm 20 pounds lighter. Funny thing is, Basketball has been over for a while and I haven't really exercised, and my eating habits haven't changed. Plus, I notice that my face looked a little thinner today. The check bones really pop out.
Yeah. There's definantly something wrong here.
My dad thinks it's mono nucleolus or something like that.
Although I must say, Cherry Coke tastes heavenly, as long as it's through a straw. -
My dad lost loads of weight after getting diabetes, tough I don't know if it was caused directly by diabetes or by the treatment he was taking.
-
In many cases, diabetes correlates with obesity. This is particularly strong with Type II (sometimes called adult-onset or non-insulin dependent diabetes). Furthermore, insulin (if they put the person on it) tends to be a growth hormone and make the person fatter.
20lb swing in a week is very abnormal. See a doctor. Soon.
-
holy shit just drink water
friend of mine has diabetes and after he eats the food he has for the day that he knows will balance him out, he just drinks loads of waterand i really think you should be concerned with what type of diabetes you got
type 1 or 2
because thats fucking important -
If you had Type 1 diabetes, you'd either 1) know it from birth or 2) have a major medical event which would most likely result in a doctor telling you you had it. It means you're producing no insulin– i. e. a defective or damaged pancreas. Unless you get into savage car accidents and don't see doctors afterwards, you generally don't "get" type 1.
Type 2 is the gradual-onset type.
-
hopw bout i punch you in the gut for like an hour
I BEAT THAT BOY INTO DIABETES
seriously, it could happen
diabetes is now infectious if someone really doesnt like you -
Whatever it is, it's making me really thirsty. I'm just glad I'm going to a doctor tomorrow.
I have a really big temptation to dunk my head in a tub of really cold water, or at least swim in it like it's summer.
I'm just really tired, and I have a lot of homework for school tomorrow. Boy is this gonna suck. -

-
So yeah. I'm in the hospital right now, and about an hour ago they informed me that I do, in fact, have diabetes. The thing is, they said if I waited another day I could've gone into a coma, and we were going to see a doctor tomorrow after school.
But hey, I can actually feel saliva in my mouth.
My dad told me I can take advantage of this moment to get some stuff to make me feel better like video games and what not. Maybe this is a good time to tell him about the car I accidentally backed up into last Wednesday… -
Shitty buzz man.
Sorry to hear that.
But, yeah, go wild and get yourself some primo shit.
Something good has to come out of the situation, right? -
Well, everything seems to be in a good position. My Mom's getting me Metroid Prime 3, the hospital food is good, and I'm glad as ever to be able to taste what I'm drinking ^_^
Oh course, every hour they're taking shots for my blood sugar count and I have to inject insuline before every meal, which isn't too bad. -
hospital food was never good for me. just out of curiosity, how old are you?
-
Yeah, it's a good thing we could….
somehow help you, I think...
Wich makes me wonder...
Do you think the guy who was "HATED BY GOD" actually died? :S
-

This…was unexpected.
My dad got me a shiny new Dell Laptop, and says it's mine as long as I record all of my blood sugar levels onto it. It even has that new laptop smell to it. -
Glad to hear youre alive :)
Sorry to hear about the diabetes :(
Can you still eat/drink fruit/juices?

Yeah, it's just that I have to count the carbs and take 1 unit of insulin for every 10 grams of carbs. It use to be a ratio of 1:15, but they changed it to 10 for the first week.
-
Ouch.
Well, more proof: Go to a freaking doctor, don't put it off or ask for advice from people on an internet forum. We aren't doctors. At all. In fact, any advice we give might HURT.
Good luck, nice to know you're getting some good free stuff out of it. You're parents are secretly thinking "Glad it's not me", just watch out. You easily have another 60 years of following this procedure every meal. Good luck.
-
I'm really sorry Mr. Zoro this must really suck.

if youd read the thread, youd find out he already WAS there.
sorry to hear it-though my grandfather has it,he just takes pills.
Also, any idea what couldve been the cause?
-
Well, they said they really don't know the cause. They say it could've been a virus, or maybe something genetic. My grandfather had type 2 diabetes, but that really doesn't affect me, but my sister has Hashimoto's (I think that's how you spell it…it has something to do with low production of the thyroid or something), and both diabetes and Hashimotos have to do with the endocrine system, so we're kinda thinking that my younger brother may have some problem with his endocrine system when he gets older, but we can't be too sure...
Thanks for all the concerns, and please know that it's not that bad now. It's just a few minutes of work added into my day, really.
