Heather isn't too bad. Douglas sounds pretty meh (the original sounded far more fatherly IMO). I admit that I prefer the old Heather purely due to preference, but this one isn't half bad. I'll probably keep an eye open and see how she does the 'reuniting with her father' scene.
Only voices that I've heard that really bother me are Maria's (again, adore MEM) and Eddie (why does he sound like he smoked forty billion cigarettes?). I haven't heard Vincent's or Angela's, but both would probably bother me. And this is coming from pure bias, I admit.
While the changes in visuals do bother me, I'm far more bothered by voice changes.
@TakinawaTonfa:
Though obviously not your intent, the way you wrote your post kind of sounded like you were calling out the people who complained about the visuals, much less that ' HD remastered versions' exist.
And I kind of like the new voices personally.
Yeah, but I did want to be far more sympathetic towards the bundle. For some people, it might be the easiest way for them to play Silent Hill 2 and 3 (I'm pretty sure it's not on PSN). The visuals aren't the way we prefer it and it does take away from the murky and creepy side of Silent Hill, but that's purely because we've already experienced the game. Someone new to the games may get a different experience. Sure, they'll get a better experience from the PS2/PC/XBox versions, but those versions aren't exactly readily available for some people.
It's kind of like me and Final Fantasy 5. The first time I played and beat the game, I played the PS1 port of the game because the original SNES version was only in JP (and I never owned an SNES). But as known, the PS1 version has horrendous translation, dreadful loadtimes, and bizarre lag. But even after playing that version (and before getting the superior GBA version), it was and IS my favorite Final Fantasy ever.
We've played and loved these games, so this pack is really not for us unless we really want to replay the game and don't have the copy anymore. I mean, that's why I bought the Ico/Shadow of the Colossus pack: Because I knew they were awesome games, yet I had not yet played either of them. Still, it'd be nice if they kind of left the game untouched.
